    Eh duh.

If a book for a particular race is moving against the bookie and a 2-1 winner with a promise to pay 4-1 isn't helping, be sure that the bookie is going do their best to shift those odds from 2-1 to 15-8 or 11-5. You will lose your boll0x big style in the long term.
I do not suggest this is a guaranteed method of winning on dog racing, however it is highly unlikely that pp are trying to ensure dogs do not have a 2/1 sp and it would be practically impossible to manipulate the market to that exent and finally you provide no evidence that one would lose ones you know what. The deal applies to particular meetings and punters who play the system craftily are practically guaranteed to be on a 2/1 chance at 4s albeit at small enough stakes(€25 or €50)

The method I am talking about means putting the bet on after the bell goes.

I think it would be a late bet as most bookies take the bell as the signal for
no more bets on the dogs?

It is hard to imagine PP REPS forcing down the odds at BAGS meetings all over Britain.2/1dogs are fancied anyway and if dog punters only back 2/1 chances it does increase the chance of winning.

Couldn't see them forcing prices up/down every time there's a 2/1 shot. Have a look at the Betfair prices at the same time as a race goes off and you will notice the dogs are nearly always higher although with little or no liquidity.
The 1st and 2nd traps adding up to 7 can not be manipulated and just gives punters a better chance.

And it will always apply (bar non runners) in every race against a 2/1 SP which doesn't happen in every race.

you'd imagine its all locked into their margin so they just want to take money on these bets all day. the results are irrelevant.
shops are packed to rafters with mugs trying to find an edge versus top class number crunchers who graduated college with top maths degrees.

guys, dog races is worse to bet on than horse racing, with margins sometimes up to 130%, should really stay away from them

Interesting , how do you work out the margins ?

Interesting , how do you work out the margins ?

divide the decimal into 100 and then add it all up

    so 3/1 (100/4.0) = 25%

Ok well I won a bet on paddy power and attempted to withdraw it. I was prompted that I need to be verified first. Upon trying to verify my account I was told I had broken one of the their terms and conditions because of a tiny irrelevant discrepancy. I lost 125 euro in free bets (livid is an understatement) and that my account would be locked. However my cash winnings would be returned to my paypal. Numerous attempts at this over a couple of days from the live chat and phone line help people resulted in me still not having my money. I was informed the 'payments team' would sort it out. They emailed me saying it was bouncing and paypal were not accepting it. So I rang paypal and they said that my account was 100 percent set up to receive payments and there was no reason why my account shouldn't be getting the money. A couple more times of ringing paddy power, ringing paypal followed until I finally got a decent person on the paddy power phone line who set up a new account in accordance with her manager for my funds to be transferred over into and so I could access my account and withdraw through a different means. To withdraw it however I had to verify this account... I know! While verifying this account with the live help people I was told by a manager that this wasn't the right thing to do and the funds would be transferred back to my old, locked, apparently broken account as they could only sent me money through the payment system I set up with. I was not told at all how long it would take to resolve this issue or if it was even resolvable! This problem is clearly not my fault and I am the one who not getting my money. I was told it'd be 'told about any updates'! These updates could be weeks, months away. Are they withholding my money form me? Is there anything I can do? I know 50 euro isn't a huge sum of money but being and 18 year old student it is big enough for me. It's also mainly out of principle that I want it back as they have already taken 125 euro in free bets away from me so I'm not giving this up without a fight. Any help would be greatly appreciated. And if you got to the end of this you're a champ in my books. Thanks in advance

What was the 'tiny irrelevant discrepancy'?

I placed a 60 euro bet on odds of 4/6 and as a result would expect to return 100 euro. This was in their sportsbook. After placing the bet I noticed they were only going to return 99.60. Now I know that this is only 40 cent but has it happened to anyone else? I went into chat and the response was, 'im sure we can credit a few extra cents for you'.

Again I know its only 40 cent but that's not the point. How many bets has this happened on that I didn't notice? How many other people has it affected or was it just this one bet this one time? If so was it market wide or specific to my account?

I had given a different email address to the one that I set up my account with. I was reassured that this is not a problem as to why I'm not getting my money back but it is against their terms and conditions meaning they have the right to shut my account. Cheers for the reply

I would tell them it was a work address and you didn't think when setting it up.
How did you get €125 in Free Bets?
You could go into a shop and withdraw the cash there if the account is verified.

€40 at 4/6 should return €100 so what did they say the reason for the shortfall was?

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,036 ✭✭✭Guffy

Just said it was a problem with the market and refunded the 40 cent.

I've just been shafted out of €546 by Coral. I made a thread about it already but just thought I'd let you know that they change their settlement policy at will and if they make an honest mistake they're too stubborn to correct it. If anyone wants more info or solid proof I'll provide it. I made two winning bets but they keep citing a rule that doesn't even apply to the market I bet on to justify not paying out. Every response is the exact same too. Reported them to IBAS already.

You think that's bad? The max I can put on a horse at 4/1 right now is €3.34. And I only really bet on horses once or twice a year anyway.

I don't know if this is the place to put this but I'm getting to the stage where I want to lodge a complaint against the people in my local ladbrokes.

I've had a good run of form lately and have had to take back winning slips on a regular basis. Every single time I've gone to collect they've tried to short change me. It's beyond a joke at this stage.

This afternoon I was in to collect on 6/1 & 4/1 as I'd had a tenner on both. I handed over the two slips and your woman hands me back €70. I told her I gave her two slips.

"The second one didn't win" she tells me. I assured her it did. I asked her to have a look at the slip again. She said she didn't know where she put it. Anyway, long story short, after arguing long enough I got my money.

This happens all the time in there. I know mistakes happen but the last 8 times I've been in to the shop they've tried to give me a considerable chunk less than I've actually won back.

What's the process for complaining about this as I've a pain in my arse with it.

I'd take a snap of any bets which win on my phone. Try to do it standing in the bookies at the counter.

I had the same issue and I produced the picture. They paid out immediately.

It's a staffing issue, not a comany one. They should be removed

Ah I'm not worried I have a lot of accounts with different books. They did say I could dial-a-bet and possibly bet more though.

Completely missed ladbrokes in the post. Often at that carry on, handing bets in individually and calculating returns yourself beforehand help towards preventing this in all bookies.
