    Ah that's alright then.
I'm in no real rush anyway. Was just a bit worried that there was a mistake or something.
Oh another question by the way. Is it cool to make calls and stuff at the moment, even while the number's not ported over?

Yeah In theory that's your ported number, it is temp number at the moment and will become ported number automatically once port is complete, you can make calls and browse, will come out from units.

Mmmm, applied this morning online and this afternoon got an email saying I was not successful, even though I have an excellent credit history. This happen to anyone else or has anyone got any insights?

    Here's the email:

"Dear XXXThanks for choosing 3. We’re sorry to say that we cannot set you up on a Pay Monthly contract at this time as your application was not successful. You can of course appeal this decision if you are unhappy with this outcome. However, its not all bad news. Have you thought about 3Pay - our pay as you go option? You get the latest mobiles, extra credit and you wont have a fixed contract. Appeals should be sent in writing to: 3 Credit Referrals Team PO Box 10190 Dublin 2 Please include the following with your letter: - your full name - full home address details (for the last 3 years) - your date of birth - your 3 order reference number. Yours sincerely 3 Credit Referrals Team"

Anybody know how to check your balance from the phone (on billpay)?
Also for others who are porting from other networks, what's the story so far?
Job done, or still waiting? I'm still waiting by the way.
3 porting is backlogged due to numbers porting onto network. Should all be sorted by tomorrow

Nope you need to activate it, do this by connecting it to itunes, it will connect to the istore and then activate the phone for you.

Voice mail is 15c/min on the smart phone plans, only free on the regular plans. Pretty sneaky. No one should be charging for voice mail, it would be 1 thing if it came out of your flex units, but this is not the case.

very true im just after changing over from a legacy tariff to their max flex plan and they did'nt inform me about the 15c for voice mail b,stads:mad:.
when i called them about changing back since my bill does not come into effect untill next month they said NO.
a well just as well im out of contract looks like their going be losing out on about 1000e a year f**k you 3.

Hi, has anybody in the Clare area bought the iphone 4 on the 3 network yet?
    Any feedback?
    Any flaws?
What's the speed like in Ennis and surrounding areas?
Are there any extra costs they don't tell you about?
I believe there is no free Skype on the iphone with 3?
    Thanks for any pointers.

I am considering switching to 3 for my mobile upgrade as you seem to get better call value. I've heard plenty of stories regarding poor customer service but since I rarely if ever call O2 I'd be interested in some feedback from current customers.

    Do they allow/charge for tethering?

Do they unlock phones for customers?
As to your 2nd question: If you ask them nicely, they will give you the unlock phone for your contract phone after one year, on a pay as you go phone, they'll charge you 25 euro or something for the code after you've used the equivalent money to a one year contract.
Their customer service (except for Irish sales) is located in Mumbai and they're sometimes not well informed about things. They will forever transfer you or will ask to call you back with the answer which can be tedious.
In general, I'd say they're having the same problems as any company who uses a call centre in Asia.

Anyone know what happens if you're out when 3 try to deliver the iphone ? Is it done by An Post....i.e. do you drop down to your post office to collect ?
The couriers delivering phones are instructed to give the phone only to the person who ordered it. They can even ask for ID.
It really depends on the individual courier you're dealing with in my experience and I've had a few phones delivered by 3.

Any one got any clarity of how this will work (search is down for me atm). From http://www.three.ie/iphone/#terms1

"Please note that from 1st October 2010 a call set up charge of 5c will apply to all out of bundle domestic calls and the call set up charge for in bundle domestic calls will equal one quarter of a flexi-unit."

Mentioned it in three store in Athlone today and thet knew nothing, thought it might be just if the call wasn't answered (which is ridiculous, especially the in bundle minutes one).

Anyone know if this is applies elsewhere or got more info on it?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,544 ✭✭✭Hogzy

I read in the T&C's that it will take one quarter of a flexi unit to connect. Its when someone picks up. Not if it rings out... although if it goes to voicemail you'll be charged

Got a call from 3 as I had registered my interest on the site. I had gotten my upgrade in O2 earlier but I thanked him for the call and said that I already got one. He asked what shop and I said I got it in O2 because they gave me a better price than 3 and I was generally happy with them. He then asked why I had upgraded when I had preregistered on their site and given my phone number. He seemed very upset at this. He couldn't seem to believe that I had enquired from 3 and not purchased!

Are we still waiting for an answer on how to check our balance? the My Three thing online just says "Sorry, this service is currently unavailable. Please try again later" and "Sorry, there is no data usage for this mobile."

Three staff need more time to brush up on the T & C's then. That's probably enough to make me not go for 3 (if my willpower holds). Crazy paying cents per minute or using units then having to spend more for the privilege of making the call. the limited life of the free add on's a bummer too.

I've been on the 3 network for the last 3 years or so and have just noticed their sneaky price increases. Thought the new contracts were just for the iphone, but they're trying to introduce them to all bill pay users.
The price of the cheapest contract has gone up from 19 to 25 euro, the price of the phones has gone up (where you got a free phone before, when you took out the 19 euro contract, you now have to pay for the same model on the 25 euro contract).
Pay as you go has also gone up, text message have gone up from 5c to 12c, so there's lots of price increases. Haven't fully investigated yet, but will hold on to my old contract as long as I can and keep an eye out for what the other operators are doing.

I only seen a link for insurance on the final confirmation page. I didn't notice any insurance option while doing the checkout/payment.
