Just bare in mind that they charge 15c per min for voicemail and it doesnt come out of your free minutes. I was going to get an iphone but considering i need to check my voicemail 2-3 times a day this would add €15 per month. Ridiculous

That's not true any more, see here:

    Voicemail is free!

Ive noticed that coverage is better so far. i have both my iphone 4 on 3 and my iphone 3gs on 02 with me as it is taking ages for my number to port over.

I live on the mallow road and work in the airport business park so thats the only places ive checked.

Voice mail is 15c/min on the smart phone plans, only free on the regular plans. Pretty sneaky. No one should be charging for voice mail, it would be 1 thing if it came out of your flex units, but this is not the case.

also, interested in seeing how the three dudes are getting on with their new phones? Hows coverage going in Dublin?

And once it falls back to 2G do you have to manually go and select 3g? Saw some posts about that yesterday which put me off three. But I can be persuaded if this doesn't happen.

Still waiting on port over to happen. Once I switch off the wifi the 3g kicks in and is fairly good, listened to todayfm over 3g no buffering. In Leopardstown at the moment.

    Thanks.
I was told they had bad coverage and so it was useless going wih them but they have the cheapest/best offer so i dont see why not.

Coverage is great in Dublin and speed is awesome, getting over 1.9Mb download, with o2 will never get 3g signal but on 3 Full signal 3g in city centre office.
    so far so good.
i turned off the automatic network and manually selected the 3g and no prob at all.

Thanks deep. It's good to know.....that seems to be good speed.

Has it dropped it's 3G signal yet?

Keep us up to date when you get a chance.

I really 50/50 on what to do....wanted to go for three then heard things about the network and the way it works with the iphone. Then decided to wait until 02 open their orders up for new customers.

Posted this on another thread but no reply, so I'll try here :)

Question for you guys, if you got the text add on or calls add on, which is used first? I mean, is the add-on used after your flexi-units run out or straight away? So if I got 100 texts as an add on would my first 100 txt messages come out of that or flexi-units?

The signals drops for few seconds and picks up very fast, I have tried all around the city and it is rock solid ( even indoors), where o2 was struggling to get 3g for me, now i have faster internet everywhere.
wait for someone else to confirm aswell as i have only tested it around dublin 7 and dublin 2 yet.

That's what i will presume so, say you get 350 flexi units and 100 text add-on.
so first 100 text from add-on and then rest from flexi units if you have any left.
Not sure though but that is more likely.

I'm liking what I hear about three :-)

Voicemail doesn't matter too much to me...as no one calls me :D

Anyone around other areas of Dublin care to share their experiences of three and the iphone4...hows the 3g signal? and is it dropping and automatically reselecting 3g.

    Thanks

Can anyone confirm what sort of Internet access is available through tethering on new iPhone 4 data plan.

I'm currently with three on a jailbroken 3GS and have the €20 10gb mobile broadband, which isn't censored, I had the 1gb plan before and it had quiet a few blocked sites.

I might not get the new iPhone but am interested in switching to one of the new flex plans with give 2gb data and a possibility of adding another 2gb as an add-on.

after activating the phone etc you need to power it off and then back on again..
I had the same problem and was beginning to get worried :D

Once restarted it picked up 3g straightway..first time online was bit slow but after that the speeds picked right up,..very impressed with 3 atm

Did anyone get the iphone on 3 in Galway or even da west. Im with 3 at the moment, and am undecided about staying with 3 or moving to vodafone/o2. The coverage is supposed 2 be way better. Any feedback would be appreciated!!;)

You need to reset your network settings. Settings > general > reset > reset network settings. Phone will reboot, it will then work fine.

I got it in galway, so far signal's been fine (though death grip did drop it when i grabbed hard) and 3g speed test is showing 3.1mb download speeds, which is a hell of a lot faster than my o2 broadband dongle i have up here.

Ordered a 32gb this morning on the three website, and got an email 2 hours later that I have been approved.

Now waiting on a shipping time, I hope its this weekend as im in the UK next week for work.

I'm switching from meteor, intesrtingly I have been using a three mifi for the past few weeks in the UK and at home, no problem with threes signal and the fact that I can roam in the UK and just use as I would at home is fantastic.

Download the speedtest.net application from the app store, that will give you the results and record them for comparison in future.

I am considering switching to 3 for my mobile upgrade as you seem to get better call value. I've heard plenty of stories regarding poor customer service but since I rarely if ever call O2 I'd be interested in some feedback from current customers.

    Do they allow/charge for tethering?

Do they unlock phones for customers?

Looking for reception reports in D1, D15 and D24 area!

Need a bit of help here lads, gf got ip4 on three today and her reception is awful. Shes been in south dublin and is now in the city centre. Phone is displaying full bars on 3G.

I've been ringing her from my mobile and landline, with both the reception sucks. It's cutting out etc and we can barely hear each other.

Tried the airplane mode on/off trick, still no better. Anyone have any ideas before I take it back to the store for a refund? Please?

and no, she is not holding it in that special way!!!

Anyone know what happens if you're out when 3 try to deliver the iphone ? Is it done by An Post....i.e. do you drop down to your post office to collect ?

I dont know if you're being a smart arse or what so for the record I got the phone from 3. I'm with 3 also, moved from o2 because three's signal is better in my home and work, and they are cheaper. I WAS NOT BASHING 3!

I think you may just have to change it manually.
Settings > Phone > My Number (and obviously change the number).
Hopefully that should sort your problem out.

I'm still waiting on my number from O2 to be ported over, so I haven't bothered yet.

    It was tongue in cheek.
Also with O2 and contemplating a move to 3.

    Way, way better prices.
Hesitating till I hear move re coverage etc....

    Wasted on her, absolutley wasted.

So no reception problem, absolutley crystal clear!
