I got it in galway, so far signal's been fine (though death grip did drop it when i grabbed hard) and 3g speed test is showing 3.1mb download speeds, which is a hell of a lot faster than my o2 broadband dongle i have up here.

how do you check 3g speed on iphone? i went to safari to speedtest and it kicks me into the app store when i try to start the test. any ideas?

Download the speedtest.net application from the app store, that will give you the results and record them for comparison in future.

I am considering switching to 3 for my mobile upgrade as you seem to get better call value. I've heard plenty of stories regarding poor customer service but since I rarely if ever call O2 I'd be interested in some feedback from current customers.

    Do they allow/charge for tethering?

Do they unlock phones for customers?

    I know - me again :)

If ye can keep an eye out for 3G to 2G switching and back again, it would be great!!!

    So far everyone seems happy!

Looking for reception reports in D1, D15 and D24 area!

    Thanks

Need a bit of help here lads, gf got ip4 on three today and her reception is awful. Shes been in south dublin and is now in the city centre. Phone is displaying full bars on 3G.

I've been ringing her from my mobile and landline, with both the reception sucks. It's cutting out etc and we can barely hear each other.

Tried the airplane mode on/off trick, still no better. Anyone have any ideas before I take it back to the store for a refund? Please?

and no, she is not holding it in that special way!!!

Anyone know what happens if you're out when 3 try to deliver the iphone ? Is it done by An Post....i.e. do you drop down to your post office to collect ?

I dont know if you're being a smart arse or what so for the record I got the phone from 3. I'm with 3 also, moved from o2 because three's signal is better in my home and work, and they are cheaper. I WAS NOT BASHING 3!

the new number i received with the microsim is still showing in itunes even tho my old number has been ported, i have received a call so i know it has,

whats with that, any ideas, did a restore to see if it would refresh to my old number, but it still shows

I think you may just have to change it manually.
Settings > Phone > My Number (and obviously change the number).
Hopefully that should sort your problem out.

I'm still waiting on my number from O2 to be ported over, so I haven't bothered yet.

    It was tongue in cheek.
Also with O2 and contemplating a move to 3.

    Way, way better prices.
Hesitating till I hear move re coverage etc....

    Christ on a bike:eek:

False alarm folks, just had gf on the phone (again). Turns out she still had the plactic cover on the phone:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:! So it was covering the mic and speaker, therefore I couldn't hear her and she couldn't hear me!!

    Wasted on her, absolutley wasted.

So no reception problem, absolutley crystal clear!

    Sorry 3!:P

    No worries R,

FTR, I was with 3 for a year, no problems, ever. Then whored myself to o2 for the 3gs. This was a very very bad move. Their network is not all that and a bag of tayto!

I didn't have any signal AT ALL in my work in Santry. With three I get full bars (even get two in the lift!!!). Also o2's network at home and in a lot of places aroiund Dublin was pants.

I cant fault three, I'm now on PAYG on 3gs, topped up €20 on 10th July and still have €8 left, bought the fiver internet add on and it's lasting well, more than enough.

I had trouble with the reception / emails but the carrier update on itunes sorted that. Would highly recommend them.

Maybe she should retire back to the kitchen for some sandwich making!!!

Fantastic. Excellent. Thanks for the info!
Can't get over the price difference.

    o2 want €100 pm for 700min, over 18 mts and €199 for 16 GB iP4

3 want €95 pm unlimited mins (up to 3000), over 18mts and ZERO for 32GB iP4

    Its a no brainer.

What? Are you crazy? Sandwich making involves handling knives!

After today's episode, she'll be lucky if I let her use her own spoon!:D

Anybody know how to check your balance from the phone (on billpay)?
Also for others who are porting from other networks, what's the story so far?
Job done, or still waiting? I'm still waiting by the way.

Still waiting , was told in afternoon could take up to 24 hours because of rush.

    Ah that's alright then.
I'm in no real rush anyway. Was just a bit worried that there was a mistake or something.
Oh another question by the way. Is it cool to make calls and stuff at the moment, even while the number's not ported over?
