Mon 17th Oct, 3 mls recovery on grass in the heath in 29'30 (9'50). Quite possibly the slowest run of my life but who's counting. Felt like a cancer patient most of the day, post race fatigue and a headcold ain't the best combination. I think my body is thinking i'm trying to kill it, thats what it feels like anyway.

Cracking race Brian. You deserved that one. Keep it up.

As i said before skip the marathons for a few years, give me your slot for London next year:) and work on crushing those pb times from HM distance and below.

Ha yeah, i'll put you down as the first reserve for London so. If you want my Brighton marathon number (for free) give me a shout, its on a week earlier.

My marathon performances may be fairly poor but the training is giving me the strength for the shorter races by the looks of it.

Nice one! It didn't take you long to recover from Berlin, I only did my first non-recovery run on Sunday :o

He doesn't have that much time to play with. He's in his late 20's now.

    serious question.

Races in Ireland are more important - because it's not like there are hundreds of UK-based runners who are going to flood the forum with transfer requests - but I'd rather keep the rule simple, all races without the express permission of the organisers. Saves on explanations and arguments.

    Fair enough i guess.

I still get asked for ID in the pub and the bookies, that's all that matters

They just want to check that you're not trying to get the discounts on pensioner discount day :pac:

That's pathetic, I haven't been ID'd since I was about 16, except in Leeds, the good people in Leeds don't think I'm old like the ****ty Irish do.

They're rediculously strict in the uk. If they think your under 25 they're obliged to ask. Out of frustration i often ask them "honestly how old d'you think i am" and they say 18 or 19 confused.gif

Tues 18th Oct, rest day, still not over the cold and still wrecked from Sundays race.

Weds 19th Oct, track session in the heath. 2 mls w/u then 14 x 400m at 10k pace. Difficult to know what my 10k pace is, but with the race only 3 days before i went with the dunshaughlin time (6'00 pace). Did the reps between 86 and 92 secs so happy enough. Feeling the pinch towards the end. 2 mls w/d then.

    Thurs 20th Oct
, was supposed to be 6 mls easy but i ended up doing 3.5 mls recovery in 33'12 (9'30). Felt terrible this evening and never got going. Hope the cold clears fully by the weekend. No doubt the race knocked me for 6.

Fri 21st Oct, 5 mls easy in the heath in 42'36 (8'31), followed by 6 x 100m strides after. Felt a little better today. Headed out straight after work in a desperate attempt to run in daylight. One week of that left before the clocks change next weekend. Cant believe dcm is only 10 days away. I have to say it feels great to not be running it for a pb this year.

Sat 22nd Oct, Hill session in the heath. 2 mls w/u then 8 x 1 mins at 10k/10 mile effort with jog down recovery. Picked the side of Parliament Hill for this. The efforts were ok the first half but they burned big time the last 20 seconds and it was a case of keeping the running form intact. Interesting session and good to do something different. 2 mls w/d after. 6.5 mls total.

Will do 12 mls at 3'45 marathon pace tomorrow, which is my usual easy pace (8'30) anyway so it will be fine.

Sun 23rd Oct, 12 mls easy in 1'41'51 (8'30) in Richmond Park. Wanted to run in this park for a few months and thats another one ticked off the list. Ran the "Tamsin Trail", a 7.8 ml lap around the outside mostly made up of gravelly paths and grass, a runners dream. Quite a few drags made this tough in parts but overall a very enjoyable run in blazing sunshine (sunburnt now), stark contrast to the sh*te your all getting at home. This park is enormous (40% bigger than the phoenix park) and i was trying my hardest not to get lost. After i did the lap I cut across the middle past the hundreds of deer and the lakes, stopping for water and to check the soccer scores on the phone (and to laugh at united tongue.gif). Last 2 mls legs were a bit sore, good prep for next week at pacing pace.

Weekly Review, 37.5 mls, good recovery from the 10 miler last Sunday.

    Yearly Mileage, 1603 mls

Mon 24th Oct, 4 mls recovery in the heath in 38'28 (9'37). Legs were tired from the last 2 days and tbh it felt like i did a 20 miler yesterday. My legs are in for a treat on Monday , i better bring money for a taxi and a needle to pop the balloon :p

    Tues 25th Oct,

Woke up this morning said to myself "great heading over to Dublin for 4 days today, started packing the bag, grabbed the passport, etc then it slowly dawned on me, "It's tuesday you twat". Pacer taper madness possibly :D

Track session with the club in Finsbury Park tonight. Plan was 6 x 1200m cruise intervals at tempo pace (6'12 pace or thereabouts) in about 4'40 with 80 secs recovery. After a rushed mile w/u, i knocked out the first 5 really easily, felt too easy in fact and it didnt feel like i was getting much of a training effect. It was difficult to watch the majority of the B group pull further and further clear of me. So on the last rep i went with them and pushed on the last lap, lost the discipline tbh. Finished it in 4'15 with the rest of them almost bang on 4'40. 6 laps w/d down before the lashing rain came and i called it a day for 7 mls total.

Does not bode well for those of us planning to run in your group on Monday if your going mad now - your supposed to be the experienced leader :)

Aimman is going for sub 3:40, maybe you should hook up with him?

I'd Imagine RQ is thinking the same, but she's not giving anything away :p

My plan is to start out around the 3:45 guys and crank things up a little bit at 16 miles if I feel strong enough!
