    Long, narrow-ish strip of land due west of Gethings? Looks like it was always going to be filled in. will make that whole area even more congested though.

    BTW - CAPS = Shouting....you might not need to...

    It's a Hostel I think. Dunno where they'll put it though, doesn't seem to be much room for a hostel and parking,unless it's on the carpark.

    PLANNING PERMISSION HAS JUST BEEN GRANTED TO A LOCAL BUSINESSMAN FOR NEW HOUSING IN ENNISCORTHY.... IT'S FOR 68 DWELLINGS ON A SITE BESIDE 'THE ORCHARD', BETWEEN THE MAXOL STATION AND THE LIDL/ALDI ROUNDABOUT ON THE BELLEFIELD ROAD...

    By the sounds of it you mean this application? If so the breakdown is as follows:
    Permission for a residential development to be completed over 3 phases consisting of;
    (i) 38 no. detached/semi-detached dwelling houses comprising;
    (a) 8 no. 2 bedroom homes
    (b) 18 no. 3 bedroom homes
    (c) 12 no. 4 bedroom homes. Total floor area associated with dwelling house development of ca. 4791m2

    Phase 1 of the development shall consist of 18 dwelling houses.<br/>
    Phase 2 of the development shall consist of 20 dwelling houses.

    (ii) 30 no. apartments over 3 blocks comprising;
    (a) Block 01, 3 no. 1 bedroom apartments & 6 no. 2 bedroom apartments
    (b) Block 02, 5 no. 1 bedroom apartments & 3 no. 2 bedroom apartments
    (c) Block 03, 3 no. 1 bedroom apartments & 10 no. 2 bedroom apartments,

    And looks like the apartment buildings being 3-4 floors.

    Looks like this application, in which case it seems to be next door to the car park, closer to Mill Park Road and knocking the house there at present
    Permission to demolish existing dwelling house and erection of a three storey tourist hotel comprising 13 bedrooms and breakfast room together with parking spaces, services and all ancillary site works

    EDIT: "parking spaces" seems to just refer to two disabled spaces, which may allow for a smaller footprint than the description suggested

    While everyone's talking planning can anyone recommend a good builder about the town. Planning on an extension you can pm details if you know someone good.

    Was in town this eve around 4 or so and it was great to see the town relatively busy again.

    Also got a coffee in the pantry (where toffee and thyme was) and place was busy, looks like they have a really nice set up there to be fair, should do well.

    I notice the removals lorry in St Patrick's school. Must be finally out of the place.

    Im presuming the stage being set up opposite Galo is for Galo being allowed outdoor dining?

    Hopefully a few others get the opportunity aswell, would be great to see it in town if we had the weather.

    It is, and the pub at The Still getting set up outdoors too, which if we get the weather would be a lovely stop for a few scoops

    I think Administrator will agree that this Forum is no longer active. This is hardly surprising when there are useless negative conributions like the one previous to this.

    Is there ANYTHING to be said for discussing hurling clubs? ;)

    At least it filled a few pages here anyway. :D

    On a completely different topic, though - seems the Riverside Park is badly struggling for chefs and possibly other staff too. My wife and I had a table booked for outdoor dining last Friday night, but they contacted us last Wednesday to say they were going to have to cancel all outdoor dining because of a staff shortage. That must really be hitting them in the pocket.

    Not even an umbrella. Tough times.

    Its why we should end the PUP right now, especially for those who were offered their old job back. Or at very least, have a reporting mechanism to say as much.

    I see they've just posted about it on Facebook a short time ago: https://www.facebook.com/RiversideParkHotel/posts/10159470424893064

    Already some negative reaction from some unhappy people.

    I also see on their Facebook page that they posted last Friday that they have vacancies for chefs and cooks.

    By the way, occurs to me that this shows that people will complain no matter what you do.

    Couple of weeks ago, they announced that after re-opening, you could book for dining only - i.e. you couldn't just turn up to have a drink if you felt like it. There was uproar.

    Now they're announcing that it's okay to just turn up to have a drink after all, without having to book. And people are complaining again.

    Tough old world sometimes....

    They deleted that particular post for some reason; the comments went to but're not being reposted despite this is that was the hotels intention.

    Same wording, only two extra pics of same photo and the same criticism from same people.

    Never get opinion from social media, it is in a perpetual state of outrage.

    Quick question.

    What pubs in town have a beer garden to serve outside and are currently doing so?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 84 ✭✭Duffry Goat

    After extensive research I have found that The Bailey is definitely the best. Rackards is a close second

    I must do some research myself, one of these fine days.... :)

    Great song by The Saw Doctors. "Same oul' Town". It's like a cold wet day in Enniscorthy in December. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iMr2QRsW0HU&ab_channel=SawDocker
