It's hard to decipher just what exactly it's all about. For those of you who don't know, Inception is directed by Christopher Nolan. The film stars Leonardo Di Caprio, Marion Cotillard, Joseph Gordon Levitt, Ken Watanbe, Cillian Murphy, Michael Caine, Tom Hardy, Ellen Page and Tom Berenger.

Inception is described as "a contemporary sci-fi actioner set within the architecture of the mind."

    The Matrix! :p

    Looks interesting.
*prepares to love Hans Zimmer even more*

Nolan hasn't really made a dud yet, has he. This is bound to be very, very good (/crosses fingers).

    Super cast too.

EDIT/ About Zimmer, he needs to get back on form I reckon (not counting Batman seeing as that was a collaboration). He hasn't done a standout score in ages.

The trailer is excellent and has me very excited about seeing this. I just wish they wouldn't show trailers this far in advance. It is probably still 12 months away.

Not released til next July but..

    "Directed by Christopher Nolan"

    That's all I needed to see! ;)

    Great director. Great cast.

    Long wait :(

Anyone else think the music in the trailer was really Terminator-esque?

Some more information about the story and characters via io9.com:
Leonardo DiCaprio has thus far only been described as a CEO and our first glimpse of his character in the new Inception trailer showed a mildly skittish person, but revealed little more.

Incontention reveals, based on an inside source who's read the script, that Leo's character Cobb is also a thief. Cobb "dives," (perhaps this was what all the water was about) into people's dreams to get information.

Ellen Page, Joseph Gordon-Levitt's Arthur and Tom Hardy's Eames are all a part of Cobbs business team. Together they create and manipulate your dreams, Ellen Page's character Ariadne is an dream engineer of sorts.

The way someone enters another dream is via injection. Which means they can enter dreams from wherever they are, shots being portable.

But the biggest spoiler of them all happens after Cobb and his wife end up trapped in the dream world and his wife tries to convince him to stay in the dream world even though he wants to go back to be with his family. Somehow Cobb's wife ends up committing suicide in the dream world in an attempt to try and get back to the real world — not sure what changed her mind. But as urban myth goes, if you die in your dreams, you die in real life. And Cobb wakes up accused of the murder of his wife.

Morning all, the new trailer for Chris Nolan's Inception is out but it's in French :(

    Looks amazing to be honest.

Indeed it does, I read a bit about the central idea online of
being able to enter people's dreams and steal their subconcious ideas
and could be the next matrix

To be honest, Christopher Nolan could make a film about a man taking a sh!t on a plate, and Id still pay to see it, such is my trust in him. Cant wait.

With this and Shutter Island, looks like two mind ****s with DiCaprio in the same year.

This looks great, and thankfully seems to want to retain some mystery, unlike most trailers

    Looks very good alright..

Until looking at the IMDb page, I didn't realise how much of an impressive cast this had: Leonardo DiCaprio, Ken Watanabe, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Marion Cotillard, Ellen Page, Tom Hardy, Cillian Murphy, Tom Berenger and Michael Caine.

Going to be nice seeing Tom Berenger back on the big screen, one of those actors whom got a raw deal and is fully deserving of a comeback.

Im off to watch the trailer!

Nolan hasnt made a bad movie yet, in fact he has made 3 of my favourites of all time (Prestige, Dark Knight and of course Memento!).

But this trailer looks like it's kicking things up a level!

is that Nolan himself falling backwards off the chair at 0:56?

Top Drawer lead, top drawer director, top drawer cast, between this and Shutter Island, 2010 is gonna be a good year for DiCaprio!

Think I saw June 2010 as a release date somewhere.

According to IMDB the US release date is July 16, they don't list a UK date.

I agree totally with something said above, in that it really retains a sense of mystery. Have no idea what it's about and I hope it's a case of not knowing too much going in to see it as well.

Think I mentioned in a different Inception thread, have to love the Terminator-esque sound effects towards the end, very atmospheric!

Well colour me intrigued; Ted, I have no idea what's going on.

Inevitably, I presume there'll be a second trailer that gives the entire plot away, but for now I am utterly baffled as to what this movie could be about. I suppose Nolan is (for now) using his new clout to keep people guessing. My favorite of his is still The Prestige

Oh and I'm still not sure where I stand with Ellen Page; she's a bit too Katie Holmes for me, she looks too cute & twee to take seriously as a character.

Nope, and only thought of that movie after I posted; I still stand by what I said however. Like DiCaprio funnily enough, another member of the Inception cast, Ellen Page is an actor whose very physical appearance can prejudice my ability to accept her in a role. From what I know of Hard Candy, Ellen Page's mousy, teenage appearance would have suited that movie, but like Katie Holmes, she may stick out like a sore thumb in other films.

DiCaprio envokes the same reaction in me as you find in Ellen Page. I find Page very watchable whereas DiCaprio annoys me, he was woefully miscast in The Aviator....too young.

The film in which he was nominated for an Oscar, won a Golden Globe and generally received plaudits from everyone for his portrayal of Hughes ?

Watch Hard Candy. It might change your mind. I do get what you mean about Katie Holmes...her Rachel Dawes was patronising to Bruce Wayne in BB and i always hoped that he'd smack her one! She was also unbelieveable as a cunning reporter in Thank You For Smoking.

But yeah Ellen Page can be a fine actress once she stays away from twee roles like Juno and Whip It

Christopher Nolan is an amazing Director! The Dark Knight is one of my faves.

Leonardo DiCaprio, Marion Cotillard, Cillian Murphy, and Michael Caine.

The Director and those 4 ^^ do it all for moi to go and see it lol

Looks very good. Gives me a vibe of T2 crossed with Minority Report. Leo Di Caprio lead role which is great but even better is it has Tom Hardy!

    Even the trailer confused me.

Aye but I'd rather have a trailer that made me go WTF than a trailer that basically told me how the film starts and ends.

    Looking forward to this myself!

Can't wait for this one. Most anticipated movie of the year. Shutter Island was my second most anticipated movie and that turned out okay.

And I love that we know next to nothing about it. How many movies can we say that about in this day and age? I mean we already know most of the plots for the 2011 blockbusters, for crying out loud. Awesome.

Christopher Nolan keeps getting better with each movie... Insomnia being a slight hiccup. Inception looks absolutely mind-blowing. Oh, and if you haven't seen it, by god, get your hands on Following. Excellent film.

Saw the trailer for this a while ago, looks like it will be a good one.

This is why I love cinema, it stretches the imagination.
And anything that isn't in 3D is always a plus (please don't let fcuking Avatar ruin the film industry).

Insomnia was nothing compared to the original with Stallan Skarsgard, he was 10 times better than Pacino.

So, technically we finally have an offical grasp on what Inception is about. This really doesn't give anything away but just gives us info, nothing most of us following this film closely haven't realised:
    L.A. Times wrote:
The film stars Leonardo DiCaprio as a specialist in the new branch of corporate espionage -- he's a dream thief who plucks secrets from the minds of tycoons after pumping them full of drugs and hooking them up to a mysterious contraption. The problem, though, is the land of nod can be volatile -- as can DiCaprio's character, Dom Cobb, who is a wounded dreamer after the loss of his beloved wife.

The movie may be Hollywood's first existential heist movie, and though that may not sound like typical fare for the air-conditioning months, Warners and Legendary Pictures are banking on the movie catching on as a brainy "Mission: Impossible" by way of "The Matrix"; the globe-trotting movie may have had its subconscious baggage packed by Sigmund Freud, in other words, but it also carries a passport stamped by Ian Fleming. DiCaprio says Nolan is the perfect director to turn that unlikely combination into a July hit.

"Inception" does have major computer effects: Several vivid sequences show a dream metropolis in churning calamity, a city skyline seems to fold in on itself as a dream begins to lose its shape and, unlike many Hollywood versions of dream surrealism, the scene has the look of a massive mechanical failure, not a morphing, liquid calamity.

Sounds interesting, I think, definitely one of the bigger movies I wanna see in the cinema this year. Full article here

Plus, the viral marketing has begun:
This is the supposed machine they use in the film: http://www.pasivdevice.org/ and this is the link you get after reading it: http://www.mind-crime.com/

Cool... It sound as if Nolan's been mainlining some Dick. (Philip K. that is)
