This should do nicely. Who can name them all?

Well he got a lot of very positive feedback last night especially on the double ipa or "super kpa" so I'm hoping he puts those empty 1l bottles to good use!

I could actually name them all except for the Nogne. I'd have to look that one up.

    Nice selection though.

the founders breakfast stout would be the pick of the litter there for me

After the tasting in The Bierhaus, I had a Nogne O Kriek .
I thought it was awful. I think they age Kriek in wodden casks in Belgium for a reason - this just seemed to really lack something. I've kept it for cooking.

    First Nogne O that I haven't liked.

was lucky enough to try some Black's of Kinsale's specials in The Bierhaus, Cork last night. Unfortunately none of these beers are commercially available but I really hope that they are a sign of what the future might hold regarding the quality of their beers.

We got generous samples of a Double IPA, a Black IPA and a whiskey barrel aged Imperial stout.

Seriously, seriously good beers - all three.

The DIPA reminded me quite a bit of Of Foam and Fury - right up there in terms of quality - right up there with any DIPA in terms of quality 8.2% IIRC.

The BIPA, while I thought not quite as good as the former was also a very, very good example of the style. For me it didn't quite have the length and complexity of the DIPA. Would I buy it? YES! around 9% IIRC

The Imperial Stout is probably the stout/porter I've liked most in a long time. It is a style that I've gone off of late but this was a beauty. Rich, quite dry, subtle whiskey notes, well hidden alcohol, but beautifully light at the same time. Fantastic. Over 10% IIRC

Three superb beers and it should be noted that we were drinking Stone and Beer republic beers while tasting these. There truly is a revolution in Irish brewing this year - long live the revolution!!

I really hope Black's commercially release beers as big hitting and good as the three I tried last night.

Thanks to all from Black's and The Bierhaus!

I hear he is bringing out some mini 5ltr kegs very soon ( next week id say ), filled with the black ipa. They'll be about €25.

Hopefully I am right on this, its what I was told anyway, because it will be Xmas day sorted.

But i wouldn't count my chickens, because I thought the beers you had last night were going to be brought out in 1 litre swingtops.

Looking forward to seeing what he is going to come out with next year, when he settles in the brewery, I'd say things are probably difficult at the mo, having not been in long. I think he will take it to another level, seriously talented brewer.

Just opened an Eibauer Porter and had a few swigs.

Never done this before, and never thought I'd say this, but this is going down the drain. Horrific. Smells like sugar. Tastes like Coke gone past it's best. Can't even just say fucck it and get drunk off it, because it's only 3.5%.

Ah well. At least I've a Warsteiner in the fridge as well.

They were in 1L swingtops - just not for general release.
But I believe they bought 900 bottles so they'll have to put something in them!

just in from the headline. what a lovely man the barman was. gave me a McGarnigle's glass (is that the name of the new brewery, the granny's red knickers ale people?)

Had an Aztec, a Kinsale Black IPA, a Metalman something with nutmeg and coriander, a red grannys knickers.

Also visited Probus and got 2 Kinnegar Coconut Porter, and 2 of the Ginger Pumpkin

and had a Purgatory and a Rebel Red in The Gingerman.

I had a bottle of the red last Saturday. Quite disappointed with it. Very flat and not a remarkable taste.
However, that's due to change soon by all accounts.

I even spotted a load of the bottles in the a Eurospar in Pennyhill in Lucan this evening. Great to see the local shops supporting them. Either that or they've got a helluva sales rep!! :D

P.S. Sipping on a McGraths Blonde tonight. Not overly impressed.

I don't like McGraths stuff. It's just not for me.

Forgetting about the contents of my last post for a while, I'm supping on a Buried At Sea tonight. Drinking it straight from the bottle. It's pretty much perfect.

A lovely bottle of London Porter hiding at the back of the fridge.
Always on point, it really is a delicious beer.

One of my salvaged beers from a recent trip to the US - Dogfish Head Burton Baton. At 10% it's at the higher end of the DIPAs, but a wonderful sipper. I had a very chilled bottle in the US, but wasn't that impressed. Back home, at room temperature, it's lovely.
