Looks like it'll be the Aviva now that Ulster are out.

Good thing imo, we wouldn't fill Croker with a Frenchie team.

Ye, delighted it won't be in Croker.

    Saturday 30th April, 3:30pm. Perfect.

email below from the leinster branch

    Leinster Rugby Ticket News

    Heineken Cup Semi Final tickets

    Dear Supporter,

Following the epic battle that took place in Aviva Stadium yesterday, and driven by your fantastic support both in the stadium and around the Province in the lead up to the game, Leinster Rugby have now secured a place in the semi finals of the Heineken Cup.

Ticket allocations have now been agreed with the ERC who are the sole organisers of this fixture. Tickets will be available to Season Ticket holders from 10am tomorrow and will be sold on Ticketmaster via a unique password. Tickets will not be pre-assigned and will not be available via your Season Ticket account as is normally the case. Ticket allocations will be dependent on the venue.

    IMPORTANT:

Your passwords and full allocation details will be emailed to you this evening when opposition and venue have been confirmed by the ERC. Please note that this email will be issued by sportstickets@ticketsmaster.ie on our behalf and not from our office so please ensure you do not ignore/ delete this email. If you do not receive your password by 10pm please email tickets@leinsterrugby.ie

    Kind regards,

    Leinster Rugby Ticket Office

Was croker ever a possibility. I thought a full Aviva earned more for the IRFU then a full croker.

Will we be able to retain our season ticket seats for this?

not automatically according to the email above. they are jumping straight to the pre-sale with all seats up for grabs, but only to STH for first 3 days. Likely be able to grab them if in early though.

    Personally prefer that anyway.

Due to fixture congestion there could only be one rugby game in the Aviva that weekend (think the FAI have it booked the other day?) So if Ulster went through they would have taken it.

Leinster would have gone to Croker as it might be a bit of a stretch to send Ulster and their fans to Croke Park!

Slightly O/T but Erik Lund could have been a great signing for the second row!

The contract agreed by NLR holdings (a company set up to manage the Aviva by the IRFU and the FAI) to host the Europa League put a limit (of 2) on the number of rugby matches held in the ground between the begining April and the Europa League final in order to guarantee that the pitch would be in a good condition. That meant that only one home semi-final could be played there that weekend.

Leinster's HEC path must be the toughest ever. Sarries, Racing, Clermont, Leicester, Toulouse and, maybe finally, Northampton/Perpignan!

well I feel Northampton are the next best team tbh so that could be the final.

Leinster v Toulouse is much more deserving of being a final but, it should be a great game. If any team can beat Leinster in Dublin, its Toulouse. Looking forward to the match.

So looks like only 2 tickets per STH. Presume there will be a lot available later but annoying that will likely end up spread out.

Yeah got the email too. Looks like the ticket sales are being controlled by the ERC.
Its a free for all, any season ticket holder can buy wherever they want.

Leinster and Toulouse are, again, the best two sides in the competition. Some said that the winner of yesterday's match in the Aviva would be the overall winners, but really, whoever win the next one will take one hell of an effort to beat in Cardiff.

Injuries screwed us for the semi last year. Player management is key, but difficult given that we still have a fight on our hands in the Magners... Toulouse did show that they are very capable of throwing games away, and Leinster will put them to the sword if they play like they did in the second half today.

    Still would have preferred BO...

Biarritz would have been a virtual bye! They are hopelessly reliant on Imanol and Yachvili, and uniquely dire from 10-15.

Toulouse will bring a different threat and plenty of pedigree, but if you look at their performances this year, they've been mostly average. They've dangerous runners out wide and if Dusatoir is fit he's a great player, but they've huge problems at half back without Kelleher. Skrela is a ponderous player.

For us non season ticket holders when are they on sale? Can't find any infomation on it. Ticketmaster I presume that much anyway..

    · Play-off games are not covered by your Season Ticket.

    · As this is an ERC run game we have only been given a limited allocation of tickets for this fixture therefore it was not possible to pre-allocate tickets for our supporters as we have previously done for Aviva Stadium games as some of these seats would have been allocated to the opposing team.

    · As all unsold tickets for this game have to be returned to the ERC two weeks prior to this fixture we will not have access to any tickets once they go on public sale so we would urge you to purchase your tickets during this window.

    · Your password will allow you to purchase up to 2 tickets for each season ticket held so for example a family Season Ticket holder with 4 tickets will be given one password allowing them to purchase up to 8 tickets. Please note that if you do not use your password for the full allocation, it can be used again to purchase the remainder of your allocation in a later transaction.

    · The cut off for use of this password is 5pm on Wednesday, 13th April with no exceptions. If you fail to use it you will not be guaranteed tickets for this fixture.

    · Our allocation of tickets is double our number of Season Ticket holders so there are enough tickets to ensure all Season Ticket holders will be catered for with 2 tickets each, however the quality of these tickets will be dependent on availability so we would recommend booking early. Tickets are being issued on a first come, first served basis so we cannot guarantee any blocks of seats together.

    Tickets are prices as follows:
    Cat A Premium: €70
    Cat B Premium: €60
    Cat 1 Stand: €50
    Cat 2 Stand: €40
    Cat 3 Stand: €35
    Cat 4 Stand: €30
Family Tickets (2 Adults and 2 Kids only): €120

Schoolboy/girl: €10 (Please note that these tickets are only available to schoolboys/girls and are in designated schoolboy/girl sections. It will be not be possible for adults to gain admission to these sections on matchday).

    according to the leinster lowdown:
Leinster Rugby would like to extend an enormous thank you for the electric display of support which was pivotal in securing Leinster a place in the Heineken Cup Semi-Final.

ERC has now confirmed this fixture against Toulouse will take place on 30th April at 3.30pm at Aviva Stadium. Unlike the Pool Matches and Quarter Final, this fixture is being run by the tournament organiser ERC which has provided Leinster with an allocation of tickets for supporters.

Season Ticket Holders have already been emailed directly by Ticketmaster regarding Leinster's allocation. If you are a Season Ticket Holder and have not received this email please contact tickets@leinsterrugby.ie immediately.

The ERC will put any remaining tickets on sale to the general public from Friday morning at 10am.

    Against Ulster I would play

    VDM
    Strauss
    Wright
    Cullen
    Toner
    McLaughlin
    Jennings
    Heaslip
    Boss
    Sexton
    Fitzgerald
    D'arcy
    O'Malley
    McFadden
    Nacewa

Thats resting, Healy, Ross, Hines, SOB, Redden, O'Driscoll, and Horgan.

For the next week against Aironi I would bring these guys back in and rest some others.

Does Shaggy need a rest? He was probably the least active player yesterday and the least banged up. I'd give D'Arcy a rest, he's taken a lot of pummelings throughout this season and played the entire 6 nations.

Good point, to be honest I was kinda thinking of having McFadden on one wing and Fitz and give whoever did the best on the wing the 11 shirt for the SF, though I think you might be right leave shaggy at 14, rest D'arcy and put McFadden in at 12

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,889 ✭✭✭tolosenc

McFadden is a centre, though. Why put him on the wings when we have at least 4 perfectly good wingers in the squad?

Fitz, McFadden, O'Malley, Conway and Nacewa for me, with Dave Kearney on the bench.

Boss and Sexton, with Reddan and McKinley in reserve for the HBs.

SOB, Jenno and Heaslip with Ruddock on the bench.

Cullen and Locky in the SR, with Toner on the bench.

Wright, Strauss and Ross up front with Healy, JHW and Heinke on the sidelines.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,572 ✭✭✭WeeBushy

Sexton is so unbelievably important to this team, is it madness to have him on the bench and start Madigan/McKinley and have Sexton on the bench if things aren't going right? If that's madness then start Sexton but the second things (if) are sewn up bring on the replacement.

Because there are concerns about the 4 wingers not actually being perfectly good at the moment and because McFadden has performed well at wing when called upon there. I like the pace he brings to the backline and think he's slightly wasted at inside centre.

We're so close to glory, it's nice to have the fixture reversed and in Dublin this year.

Last season we didn't have Sexton, our scrum was weak and we were away. Now that has all changed. I also don't think Toulouse are as strong this year as they were last year.

We just need to keep on, steady as she goes, and focus on Ulster, play full strength team, send the kids off to Aironi the following week, hopefully secure a semi final spot, then the boys are well rested and prepaired for Toulouse and give it everything.

All going well, we'll then have one more league game, then hopefully a Magners Semi the week before a Heineken Final, maybe away to Munster, and another perfect preperation for a massive game.

It's so close I can taste it.

According to a post of LF we've signed Carr on a 1 year deal.

Around the time the Cronin signing was happening it was rumoured we were also signing Carr but then apparently the management lost interest after Morris, Kearney et al started to up their games. I'm guessing since Morris is leaving their interested was renewed. Apparently, he's only getting a one year deal as there's a good few contracts up next season so we're going to see where we stand then.

Its been touted for the past 12 months without much concrete evidence. He will be needed as cover for an ageing Horgan, erratic Fitzgerald and inexperienced Conway.

I reckon he will get plenty of gametime next year and will break into the international setup.

    Very pleased with this signing.
