    Newspaper snobbery I guess.

I think it's a great paper, as good as any Irish paper on the market.
Yes, it does sensationalise at times, big deal?

The online site is superb, ****ing loaded with news and everything else

The health and science and tech sections are very very good

One of today's gems, snobbery it is not.

Now, that's a story I'd read. What exactly is wrong with that ONE story?

Many papers have similar snippets that take you away from the mundane and the ordinary.

Fair enough with the one story although I could quote some more. It's the style of writing which I hate.

I've noticed a lot of abuse directed at the daily mail on boards.

I know they write some rubbish but so do a lot of newspapers.

What is it exactly about the Daily Mail that you hate?

I don't see INDO/SINDO/NOTW/SUN/MIRROR/STAR links every time I look in AH, that's why.

Well, at least you are giving reasons. Something tells me that many are simply following the flock on this one, persons who read the paper and persons who don't. It's fashionable nearly to be anti the Mail, and anti some things.

Just like when Barack Obama was running for U.S. President. The whole ****ing world and his mother was supporting him; but many didn't even know why. They knew **** all about the man, and what he stood for.

So true, so many mail links, yet people hate the mail?

It is a detailed news report on an issue in Britain, an issue that people
are reading about and anting to know about. Could you maybe elaborate on what is "wrong" with this article?

There are thousands of articles, it's easy to pick out a few that gets your goat and then criticise.

People wont read anything unless it has Ashley or Cheryl Cole on it.

I'll give you a reason. The Daily Mail have a history of being anti-Irish. They came to Ireland as the Irish Daily Mail so they could make money. I don't see why Irish people should give them money, but you are free to do so.

I love the way it can be vehemtly on opposing sides, depeneding on which issue you buy:- Cervecal cancer jab

UK - anti - it will give your children autism (or some other popular middle class illness)

They are spoofers, to the last. Private Eye and plenty of other blogs and websites regularly point out their horsesh*t.

    Here's one recent laughable example:

Now, that's a reason I ca go with. It's the "It's trash" that is just plain lame.

The paper and site contain a mountain of news and other stuff, some brilliant, some good and some not good. It's not perfect, but what paper is?
Folks here moaning are actually reading the articles. I don't buy the paper, as I find it difficult to read. It's quite dense and at times hard to focus on.

That is why the Sun, Star are that bit easier on the eye, simpler and easier digestion

    Xenophobic and Racist?

You seem confused, surely you should only be one or the other?

On one hand, you're afraid of foreigners, but you think that other races are inferior?

That may come from reading this paper.
It actually reduces your ability to act or think intelligently IMHO

OP, you wouldn't happen to be a journalist by any chance? I ask because only a journalist would be naive enough to ask that question.

I'm not familiar with the Irish version, because they don't appear to have bothered with a website, but the UK version is pretty unpleasant. Any publication which boasts such bigoted cúnts as Richard Littlejohn, Peter Hitchens, Melanie Philips and Jan Moir on the payroll deserves to be hated.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 37,214 ✭✭✭✭Dudess

Yeah, the Irish edition is fairly tame - very tame actually - compared to the UK one.

As far as I can see, there's not much to choose between the Mail and the Express. The Sun, Mirror and the Star aren't exactly high-brow papers, but unlike the Mail and Express they don't pretend that they are. I do look at the headlines of the Daily Mail, but otherwise I just ignore it, and so should everyone else.
