Boards hatred of The Daily Mail

I've noticed a lot of abuse directed at the daily mail on boards.

I know they write some rubbish but so do a lot of newspapers.

What is it exactly about the Daily Mail that you hate?

I LOVE the DM, it's so fair and balanced

I know everything they write is completely fabricated, head-melting, stereotyping, racist, xenophobic rubbish.

    Fixed.

Their poor coverage of pick-up-artist news stories.

Didnt know Daily Mail hate was exclusive to boards.

Here's a question, why's it called the Daily Mail if you don't get it posted to you?

It's a xenophobic, homophobic, ultra right wing hate rag that thinks all Irish people are a bunch of potato eating terrorists

    ..... pretty much

Everybody hates the Daily Mail, and the only ones buying it are the Daily Mail staff, this being a condition of their employment.

Sensationalist headlines that are taken out of context.

Half literate egotistical journo's that make Brendan O'Connor's Sindo monkey babbling look intelligent and modest by comparison.

Being incorrect in content, factually, legally, and grammatically.

    "Inventing news".

That fat bird that does the ads for the Apprentice. I won't mention her name because if you say it three times in front of a mirror with your eyes closed she will come to your house and eat you.

And because all Internet sites need villians.

    That about covers it.

No, it's the "left out any useful information in their stories" thing that annoys people

First tabloid in Britain, afaik. For that alone it deserves utter contempt.

It's also a fear-mongering, manipulative, speculative and emotive piece of shit (which often comes with awful free CDs) that's stunting the mental development of anyone who reads it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 24,228 ✭✭✭✭ejmaztec

.....and the only tits in the Daily Mail are the ones writing the yarns. The Sun's sh1t, but at least it's got two kinds of tits, or three if they do a story about another kind of bird with no clothes on.

It's a 'New Conservative' publication.. nobody forces anyone to read the shite

The question should be why are the articles linked to so often rather than why do people hate it

    Newspaper snobbery I guess.

I think it's a great paper, as good as any Irish paper on the market.
Yes, it does sensationalise at times, big deal?

The online site is superb, ****ing loaded with news and everything else

The health and science and tech sections are very very good

There are a lot of people here who hate FaceBook too. I wonder which is worse, or do the two hate groups overlap a bit / much / 100% ....

One of today's gems, snobbery it is not.

Now, that's a story I'd read. What exactly is wrong with that ONE story?

Many papers have similar snippets that take you away from the mundane and the ordinary.

Fair enough with the one story although I could quote some more. It's the style of writing which I hate.

I don't see INDO/SINDO/NOTW/SUN/MIRROR/STAR links every time I look in AH, that's why.

Well, at least you are giving reasons. Something tells me that many are simply following the flock on this one, persons who read the paper and persons who don't. It's fashionable nearly to be anti the Mail, and anti some things.

Just like when Barack Obama was running for U.S. President. The whole ****ing world and his mother was supporting him; but many didn't even know why. They knew **** all about the man, and what he stood for.

It is a detailed news report on an issue in Britain, an issue that people
are reading about and anting to know about. Could you maybe elaborate on what is "wrong" with this article?

There are thousands of articles, it's easy to pick out a few that gets your goat and then criticise.

I'll give you a reason. The Daily Mail have a history of being anti-Irish. They came to Ireland as the Irish Daily Mail so they could make money. I don't see why Irish people should give them money, but you are free to do so.

They are spoofers, to the last. Private Eye and plenty of other blogs and websites regularly point out their horsesh*t.

    Here's one recent laughable example:

Now, that's a reason I ca go with. It's the "It's trash" that is just plain lame.

The paper and site contain a mountain of news and other stuff, some brilliant, some good and some not good. It's not perfect, but what paper is?
Folks here moaning are actually reading the articles. I don't buy the paper, as I find it difficult to read. It's quite dense and at times hard to focus on.

That is why the Sun, Star are that bit easier on the eye, simpler and easier digestion

    Xenophobic and Racist?

You seem confused, surely you should only be one or the other?

On one hand, you're afraid of foreigners, but you think that other races are inferior?

That may come from reading this paper.
It actually reduces your ability to act or think intelligently IMHO
