Looking at the latest bargain posted I was planning to buy a new GPU.

Considering that they have the same price, would you go for a

    GTX 570

    or a

    GTX 560 448 cores

Are they very similar? are there any advantages on having a GTX 570?

  • Moderators, Technology & Internet Moderators Posts: 17,133 Mod ✭✭✭✭cherryghost

    GTX570 is waaaaay faster.

EDIT: Just saw you have a 560 in your link, not the 460. 570 is still a good bit faster though :P Pricewise I think you should out a few weeks if you can, prices will continue to drop across all GPUs I reckon

the important thing is to get the best spot on the price drop wave. as we know there is a break in price drop where parts get rare and overpriced.

570 still has space to drop due to no mid range of 6 series ( if there even be one ) and AMDs perfect 7850 7870 cards.

its quite funny how amd has to drop 7970 price due to 680, and how nvidia has to drop price of 570/580 due to 7870. its fecking mess atm!

its great for us though. AMD is going to have a hard time beating the 680, cause no matter how low they drop the price, Nvidia can keep up cause the 680 cost them so little to make, seeing as it was originally a 670Ti and was meant to compete with the ~€400 7950's in performance and price.

Nvidia is make MASSIVE profits off the 680 now.

What's the nvidia equivalent of one level up from the 6850? Need that 400 MHz pixel clock :p

    570, at a guess?

    560Ti is faster than the 6850, but good luck getting 100fps @ 2560*1440 :P

With a DirectX 9 config, I get 250+ fps in TF2 at 1080P as it is, shouldn't be too hard to do 120 fps at that res, especially if I go down to a dx 8.1 config. Makes things easier to see anyway.

well thing like TF2 will be soon ported to iphones, so its not the best benchmark ;)

Yeah right... I wish it were still as easy to run as it was back in 2007. It's not a very well optimized game. CPU load is the main part anyway, so I think I should be ok.

Yes you would be fine with that gfx card, I have it and use it at 120hz 1080p. Get hundreds of fps in orangebox games, not sure how much. It's a cpu thing anyway :-p

Very interesting thing linked in bargain alerts. Free delivery on non bulky items? It won't apply to full builds, but I'd someone is looking for gpu or hdd maybe it applies?

Corsair Special Edition White Graphite Series 600T, ATX, ohne Netzteil|€146.87
    Club 3D Radeon HD 7870, 2048MB GDDR5, AMD Radeon HD 7870, PCI- Express|€310.48

That would take up a fairly large box even without the case. The offer is great for one off items, or cpu, mobo and ram upgrade.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,414 ✭✭✭Fluffy88

I just tried a single HDD too, €100 and still got the shipping :(
Is the offer not started yet or something?

Also where do you find this info? I can never find anything about shipping on HWVS unless I go to the last page of the order process.

  • Registered Users Posts: 712 ✭✭✭deejer

You can see it flashing on the home page. No link for more information though so maybe it doesnt cover international shipping??

Holy crap. Even I would probably go for that, much as I like building PCs myself, that's a lot of hassle taken out for a mere Euro.
