Hmmm, if you'd said you hadn't created an account it would have been more conclusive to say this but I still think the problem is down to no default account being selected. I just tried it myself there, I cleared data from ultimate, exported from lite and I was able to reproduce the problem. Then I went into accounts and pressed the one that had been added to set it as the default and it worked fine from then on

I'm going to fix the export but in the meantime I think you'll be fine doing another export as long as you have an account selected as the default before you do it

Could you give it a shot and let me know if it works this time? You can always clear data again if it doesn't. Thanks
I uninstalled the other beta after I got ultimate working. Lost all the data now anyway.

I use cabbage lite, updated the app, now the shortcut has vanished from my screen, not in applications :(

I'm not sure what you mean. Has it gone just from the home screen or is it not in applications either?

If you go to the home screen then press menu->settings->applications->Manage applications is it on the list?

It has gone from the home screen and in applications, it is on the list in manage applications.

Crap, I thought I'd fixed that problem. Can you uninstall it from the Manage applications list and download it again to see if it shows up?

Loving this app, meteor's text and browse plan means I have free texts to any network :)

Just a suggestion, change "Cabbage Ultimate" to "Savage Cabbage". Just rolls off the tongue :P

    Good :)

And I'll look into why that happened.

    I might just do that

Just updated there, wasn't aware there was a paid version of this now. Will purchase shortly.

    I've a question.

With the paid version, using it as your inbox, does it always send messages using your webtexts? Reason I ask is I don't want to waste webtexts on people who are on meteor as I can text them for free.

    Well done Sam :)

    Best app ever.

I have a question. Heading to spain at the end of June for a week and I'm wondering how much it would be to send a text using my data. I'm on '3' and they charge €4 per mb of data in Spain so if I send a text from cabbage, have you any ideas how much it will cost?

Use wi-fi where possible to avoid any charges

As long as you're using the "Via server" sending method it shouldn't cost too much. I just sent 3 messages to myself and the total data transferred (sent and received) was 8.8KB according to 3G watchdog so assuming there's no minimum charge it should cost practically nothing.

You should call 3 and make sure that there's no minimum charge, i.e. that 8.8 KB should cost 3.35c and they don't do anythig crazy like charge €4 as soon as you connect and then give you the rest of the megabyte for "free"

Another thing you should make sure of is that you've disabled background data. Cabbage will still work but you won't end up with a massive bill because the phone's checking your email every few minutes

The default is to send using your web texts but there's a separate option "Send as real SMS"

If you are using an Android phone without a data roaming package, be ware.

I turned on data on my phone during a trip to London recently to send a couple of texts. I was connected for 7 minutes & the phone downloaded 3.5mb in data within that time (in the background), which cost me about €30.

You are better off trying to get wi-fi where possible.

Menu->Settings->Accounts and sync->Untick Background data should solve that problem no?

Menu->Settings->Wireless & Networks->Mobile networks-> Untick Data roaming should prevent background data when roaming

Edit - I see the context now. Kind of counter productive to use Cabbage over roaming 3G

That will prevent all data when roaming, not just background data.

Not necessarily. It uses tiny amounts of data so depending on the plan your on it could cost a few cents or nothing at all where roaming texts cost up to 30c each

How can I disable the notifications. I just received a text and I have received the text with a cabbage logo and a piercing sound :(

I am on cabbage lite.. (never happened on the previous version)

    You've just found a bug!

You can't change the setting in Lite but just open the app once and you won't get the notification again.

If you're interested in the technical bit, read on :P

That notification is a feature of Cabbage Ultimate. There's a setting that disables it in Lite but it defaults to being enabled and it's only disabled when you open the app for the first time. You received a message before you opened the new app for the first time so the notification setting was still enabled.

So, again, just open the app once and you won't get any more notifications

I've just uploaded an update to the lite version that fixes this problem. It includes a few other minor updates too

I noticed that but I didn't think it was a bug. I thought it was kinda giving you a taster of what the Ultimate version did :)

    Not sure if this has been asked before, it's a reasonably big feature request, I think, but one I would be willing to pay for;

Is there anyway to sync the texts sent from the desktop version to the mobile app? So that all texts sent from both versions of cabbage appear inline?

    Sorry if this causes headaches!

It's something I've considered and it would be possible but the main problems are security and data volume. I don't want to store people's messages on my server and I don't want hundreds or thousands or messages being transferred through my server either so I'd have to come up with a way to do it without sending it through my server and that's a bit tricky. It's not something I plan to do very soon but I might get to it

    Cool, thanks for the response.

I'm far more likely to use the desktop version if it's available at any given time so it was just something I've been wondering about. Thanks.

Any more features in the pipeline for Cabbage Ultimate? Or any other apps in development?
