the answer was here all along :D
Just been playing with my new Vu Duo and the new Vix 2.2 Image.

I was looking at the DTT tuner plugins and I noticed something. The Standard drivers for the Nova HD plugin have the same specs as the Sony Playstation 3 drivers.

    Guess what.

    It works.

I can confirm the Sony Play Station 3 Play TV DTT tuner works perfect with the Nova drivers and it gives you all the current Irish DTT channels including RTE 2 HD.

    And its a dual tuner!!!!!

I was about to sell mine but stopped short when I seen one selling for just £6 on ebay!

    My advice, grab one quick!

    Update -

Just got message from Rytec Guys that they have added RTE1, RTE1+1, RTE2, TV3 , TG4 and 3e for the Terestrial Channels EPG to sort out the current issue.
They advise disabling EIT in setup first.

I will check in the morning and report back.

At least it gives us an option until we find out whats up with the Saroview EPG for us.

    D

Just tried it and it works pretty well. RTE 1 +1 is patchy as is RTE News Now. But main five channels are full up to 2am Tuesday morn. RTE actually go further into tuesday.

Now I really am lost. I click menu, plugins, green (download plugins). There is no DTT tuner plugins section. I go to dvb, expand that and look for irishfreeview's Sony Play Station 3 Play TV DTT tuner. Can't see it. Am I missing something? did I misunderstand something perhaps?

    Edit:
AH. hang on, I have it backwards. He's talking about a piece of hardware working with Nova T drivers, I got it the other way around. I'll get my coat

It says that the driver to use is the nova driver

Is there any way to use the rytec epg for the dtt channels, and the opentv epg for sat channels?

Why are you looking for irishfreeview's Sony Play Station 3 Play TV DTT tuner in the plug ins? The driver used is the Nova Driver!

Read his original post on the subject, He clearly says that the Play TV hardware works with the Nova Drivers!
There is no mention of a Sony Play Station 3 Play TV DTT tuner Driver release, He just states that the Nova drivers will run the hardware.

EDIT:I see you figured it out ;)
Shoulda read the replies you were given before you get that coat :P

    Dont think so.

Only to run one before the other. They will over write any existing entries.

    Tell me this then folks,

Where does the Irish DTT epg info come from wrt the wonderful miracle that is VIX?

Lets take my old setup as an example. I used crossepg, with OpenTv provider - Sky UK Open TV (Astra 28.2). So it was my understanding that the Irish DTT epg info was coming from the satellite feed (sky I guess) for the same channels. Is this the case?

Vix has nothing to do with the DTT EPG issue's.
There is an ongoing issue with Non Saorview certified equipment having issues decoding the MHEG data stream since last week.
Not 100% au fait with the cause but I believe it has something to do with Saorview changing the datastream/table slightly from ENG for the language info to eng.
Theirs a whole thread here on the issue http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showpost.php?p=72720689&postcount=1407

No no, my question is generic regardless of current issues. Where does the box get it's dtt epg info from in the my usecase example above?

From the MHEG data stream broadcast.
Similar to teletext the EPG data is embedded in the broadcast itself.

The thing is that, the saorview boxes still work, and show the epg data normally.
This suggests that the changes made are saorview compliant.
This means that the non certified boxes should change their firmware to cope.
If it is just that the language case has been set to uppercase, then a simple case cast would resolve the issue.
Considering that the firmware for these boxes is updated reasonably frequently, it doesn't seem like the biggest task to fix this.

Thanks mate :) I have it installed and running again now ;)
Issue free since I put it on and I don't know if its just a placebo effect to my tired eyes ;)
But the skin seems a lot smoother too, there used to be some pixellation on the fonts(not that I ever had a prob with that ) but now its super smooth.
    Thanks a million mate :D

well spotted mate :) changed the fonts on some of the menus to a higher contrast and toned up the background where it used to be over stretched so is bit easier to read. have lot more finetuning to do to it tonight and tomorrow
had been using the default vix skin since updating to vix 2.2 few weeks ago beta testing and had not got around to updating my skin and forgot how plain and grey the default skin can be, but i suppose each person has their own preferences and a lot of people like it also,

Well that saves me a few bob on going to specsavers this year then :P :)

I do quite like the default VIX HD but hands down I prefer yours.
I still can't figure out why VIX offer Magic(Which I hate in its SD version! Esp in quickepg, channel guide and the setup menu's)as part of the default download and don't include your's too?
Especially as both yourself and VUplusNL are part of the team over there.

i agree i dont know why its there other than pli use it on their default skins in their image and vix uses a pli base. vuplus nl has his on feeds due to people requesting it on the vuplus forum. so only advice i can givve is to open thread and request it to be added to feeds as this seems to be the protocol to get them added. cheers :D

    hi there

can you do me favour and install the last ipk dated 15.06 on vix forum first and see if that loads and if it does then install ipk dated 16.06 and it will upgrade it.

however looking through the crashlog i do not see a skin error but a common error that sometimes happens with several button combinations pressed.

post back here mate and let me know if it is ok then

    cheers

It should show 3 tuners? The two sat tuners, and a third (C) for DTT stick.
