Well he's had 1 good week there in 4 attempts so lets hope this week is another.

I'm assuming he'll be 36 hole U.S Open qualifying at Walton Heath on Monday as well. (If he doesnt win this week ;)).
A top 3 in PGA would probably get him top 60 and qualified.

I've watched very little of the BMW today, but the course is playing very tough. Shane is -1 through 15, having shot +1 today. He's tied 19th. Cut looks like +2.

Birdies at 17 and 18, finishes on -1 for the round, -3 for tournament. Great stuff, Shane!

In the field for The Memorial next week as well :)

Tipping along nicely today again -2 for the round today after 15 T7
A bird in the last 3 would set him up for a nice cheque or possible win tomorrow hopefully

I missed it all today because I was at rugby in the RDS - seems he played very well....really looking forward to tomorrow's play. Hopefully this will bring him up the world rankings nicely.

good week, pity about the triple at the 17th

he went for broke on 17 thinking he could win the tournament, didnt work out

he will take a lot of confidence from the week, he played very good golf

70k payday, not too shabby, moves to 48 on the R2D, one place behind Harrington.

Shame about the 17th in the final round, but he played some great golf - it has been a good week for him, and good for us to watch.

Teed off with Peter Uihlein at 7:10 this morning at Walton Heath (Old course).

Due off in round 2 at 11:55 (New course).

    Off to Ohio then :)

The European tour are tweeting from it, but very sparsely.

    didn't make it unfortunately.

shot a 75 in first round and opted not to play the second round. Pity.

Did he withdraw? He would have been on round 2 now.

He started his second round at 12 didn't he? How do you know he didn't make it?

    Brian Keogh on Twitter.

Right choice not to play the second round given he's playing the Memorial this week, no way he was making it after a 75

Last year the cut off was -6. I have no idea what weather conditions are like and I haven't heard any other scores but he would need to go very low on the easier new course in the second round.

Players often withdraw after round 1 if they are too far off the pace.

He may have cut his loses and headed for his flight to the states.
He still has 2 majors to look forward to this year regardless.

66 in round 2 would have got him into a playoff. Khan topped qualifying. Casey who shot 74 on same course as Shane came second with 64 on the easier course. Maybe he was a bit rash not giving round 2 a lash.

Shane then proceeds to post a picture of the airplane bar last evening on Twitter. Does no-one filter his account before posting? This after his great comment recently on his favourite hole in Ireland (I'll leave ye to work out his reply:rolleyes:)
Great example to youngsters -quit & head to the bar. Very disappointing.

Having said that I hope that The Memorial goes well for him & that he makes Top 60 in OWR to qualify for Merion.

Think he should consider changing Management Company tho':D:D

He still has another chance to make it but would need a top 5 I reckon at least.

Are you not sick of sports star who have been trained to say and act the same as each other. He enjoys a drink like an awful lot of us. He had a great week in Wentworth, tried to qualify the following day for the US Open but decided after his first round that it was probably not going to happen for him and set off for America. So he posted a picture of a bar. I'm going to bet he had a drink from it when he was finished taking pictures. So what? He had a drink after a good weeks work. Yeah he should also leave the management company that got McIlroy a Zillion dollar deal with Nike. They clearly don't know what they're at.

Christ - maybe if your so delicate you should refrain from reading his comments. He is young, talented, living the dream and enjoying it and I am delighted he is not a media drone.

His reply to 'favourite hole in Ireland' was crude though. I'm sure kids follow him like.

he didnt walk off a golf course midway through his round this year or he didnt make racist remarks but hey lets knock one of our own..lovely..!!!!

Jesus... it was a joke. Any child young enough to find that offensive shouldn't be on twitter. If they are, that's their parents problem. Lets hope they stop following Shane though and start following Frankie Boyle.
