Nice tournament to get into, only 24 man field.

Not a bad draw, neither of his opponents have been in great form lately (bit like himself).

Hopefully he gets to play 1 game Thursday and Friday and not have to play 2 in the one day until Saturday :)

Let's hope he plays well at least. Great that we should get to see him on TV again.....seems ages since the last outing.

He drew the short straw, will play both his matches on Friday.

Another day to rest up/practice though? Seemed to be a slog getting there

Not ideal, but surely he should be able to manage two rounds in one day fairly comfortably.

Yes and if his first opponent has lost his first match it gives him a chance to get to last 16 a match early. Maybe not so bad afterall.

With the result of the first match Shane will go into his first match tomorrow knowing a win will put him through to next round.

Ah feck it, he's just lost to George Cotzee. He needs to win this afternoon just to hope to get into a play off in that group.

If Lowry wins, they'll all end up on 2 points, will it be a 3 man play off? I would've thought the individual scores in the matches would count, as a means of separating them (a bit like goal difference in football)

Round robin matchplay is a bit of a novelty, not sure what the rules are!

    4 up after 12.

If he wins this, he'll be in a 3 way playoff with 2 qualifying.

How does the playoff work? Sudden death stroke play?

Gets aiken or poulter next, I'd say he's hoping its aiken given the way poulter usually plays matchplay

Poulter is playing rubbish at the minute, I'd be more confident against him. Best of luck to him whoever he gets.

It is a very weak field of players.

Well done Shane - great recovery after this morning to top the group. Poulter going home, which is a big surprise.

true, but still given his matchplay credentials he's hard to write off

@ fix, yeah, not a great field, but cracking course, and 800k to the winner not to be sniffed at!!

It is a very weak field of players.

Saying very weak is stretching it a bit. Theres criteria for getting into it, i think Stenson was the only invite. Also despite the world in the title it is just a European tour event.

A lot of them just don't seem to be playing very well. Fabulous looking course - great for TV.

Am i missing something then. Is there only 2 players from top 30 in OWGR at it.
I dont mean to put this in Shane's thread. Was just an observation.

Was once a world class event.

Anyway. Must check out course. Have seen it in golf mags.
