    Sorry typo. I think they said the siblings and parents have been awarded compensation. Maybe it is the norm in Italian cases that both criminal and civil actions run at the same time.

    According to CNN (who are doin a real hatchet job on the Italian justice system) it's to stop the guilty party from profitting. Also, a defamation(sp?) charge carries an automatic fiscal recompensation.

    There are grounds for suspicion. No prints or DNA samples of Knox found at the scene (Porsecution: Knox plus the boyfriend meticulously removed them all (is that actually possible??))

    Also, the defense DNA specialist was apparently barred from giving evidence.

    Don't you just love journalistic spin:D?!

    Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

    The fcuk she is. Both her and the boyfriend changed their stories after they were arrested, turned of their mobiles in the time following the murder and had no alibi. Then the bizare antics that they pulled at the police station while awaiting questioning.

    The difference between the British and US coverage is stark alright. I expect Fox to have a poll on how backwards Italy is after this similar to the way the British claimed the same of Portugal with the McCann incident.

    The victim didn't want to partake in a 4 way - the rest were on the drinks and drugs.

    A vanished child is far more questionable than a media covered trial, to be fair.

    According to what I've read the standard of DNA evidence wouldn't be acceptable for most western countries legal systems.
    I'm not sure but I think a recanted confession can't be used in this country (that may have changed with the recent criminal justice acts).
    That it's a miscarriage of justice is imo.

    I understood that, but I was illustrating there is a vast difference between the cases, and hence how they are viewed by the media.

    I suppose it is a relief for the family that people have been brought to account. The poor girl got an awful death which can be easy to forget in all this.

    Seems to be major split opinion on this case. I dunno though, I thought the defence of "the female police officers are jealous" was seriously reaching.

    There's a lot that doesn't really add up here.
