have you done any financial spread trading? if not, would you consider it?

Not really, I went on one of those Delta Index trading workshops when they did their country tours and enjoyed it but never really but anything in the account of great magnitude. I've had a couple of fun spread betting experiences, and heard some even better ones from friends.

iyo how much of a persons accesible funds should they put on Binocular at 10/11 this Saturday? 100% or 100%?

il think of more questions later.

Haven't really looked at the race. I like your staking plan however.

Most of my accessible funds will be tied up laying Lloyd for X-Factor elimination.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,933 ✭✭✭H8GHOTI

I've seen your views in the BBV a few times about X Factor. About Simon Cowell manipulating it etc...
Could you expand on that a bit?

Like to what extent to you think it's rigged? How is it manipulated or how much influence do the judges (well particularly Simon) have over the public vote? I think you also mentioned he sacrificed Jamie. What you mean by that?

Thanks & good read so far.

Do you think that your current lifestyle's short bursts of mental effort will translate well into the constant concentration/state of semi-fear running your own business entails?

  • Registered Users Posts: 39,123 ✭✭✭✭Mellor

    Thanks for this,

I have a slight interest in specials myself, mostly because I reckon then are hugely influenced the the unwashed masses. However, I don't punt very high, and certainly don't do a huge amount of research.
However, I did let my bet on JEDWARD run a week too far before laying it off and I am in the red for the market. Any suggestion on how to get it out?

Do you do much or any UFC betting?

What made you choose The C(isco?) Kid as a username?

Seeing as films/horses/albums etc was done.
What are your top 5 books

great read and great humour, thanks!

would recommend Idioterne over Breaking the Waves for Lars von Trier films. It will help you bring out your inner spa.

    which would you prefer?
    (a) a good facial
    (b) busting the nuts

yeah I put them in the wrong order

    Good well

    1. Biggest bet misclick (either numerical or selection:) ) and what was the background?
    2. Now STS is gone what do you see as being the next "Money Printing Machine"
    3. What teams have you been religiously punting on this season in your football singles.

you said in one of your earlier posts that you chat with various guys who are in the top 5pc of punters in various sports. How do you know they are? How did you meet them ?

What did you make of Brohamers book Modern Pace Handicapping. did you try and apply it to english turf racing or aw racing. any joy?

Do you think its worth bothering with speed ratings over jumps?

What are the best 5 gambling/horseracing books you have read ?

top 5 resources for punters on the internet ?

Regarding horseracing, do you specialise in a particular race form (flat or NH) and a particlaur race type (E.g. 4yr+ handicaps in flats or handicap chasers in NH) and reasons for doing so.

When I was punting alot I used to do Wolverhampton and Lingfield on the AW, and European group racing. Aw was because I could apply the concepts that I enjoyed learning about to it, and group racing for similar reasons, and also that I'm a racing snob. I don't get excited by National Hunt that much really, but give me a Group One at Ascot and I wouldn't miss it for the world. I actually really enjoyed all weather handicaps but would just specialise in tracks rather than race types. Although I've always loved 2yo maidens and Irish NHF races. I had a system in NHF races that went something ridiculous like 19/23 in its first like two months, before going 18 without success. I was also lucky enough to have a decent line of info for a while from one of the best Irish amateur's out there.

which do you enjoy more, studying the form for 4 hours or playing a 4 hour poker session on line?and why?

Definitely form study. It's very satisfying when a pace analysis or just your view of a situation works out perfectly. Poker is such an imperfect game, it frustrates me so much. I could be winning like 6 buy-ins and I'll make a silly mistake and just monkey tilt away buy-ins.

Is it really possible to do both poker and sportsbetting(mainly horseracing ) to a very high level successfully or should you really just concentrate on one to maximise your income?

I'd imagine just one. Both are very hard work. I know a few guys on Betfair who trade football/horses and who rake pretty high as well. They seem to relate better to high volume poker though and multi-table SNGs or MSNL though.

    Cheers

Would you rather be known as the best sports bettor ever or best poker player ever?(assuming both would get you equal monies in the long run)

Neither. I like to get it quietly. I certainly wouldn't be on TV like Findlay proclaiming my greatness when I still have people I've knocked back years ago. But obviously sports betting is infinitely more fun and cooler than poker.

    Do you have a idol?

Tiger Woods, Spencer Pratt, and my Dad.

One thing that you could change if you could go back in time?

Should have completed my course in Galway, was definitely the only thing about college I regret.

Do you chase your losses when losing lots?

Yeah, getting a bit better though. Now that I'm saving towards something, I see every bet as a step on that path and don't like to throw it away as much. I've also slightly changed my circle of friends, and have a much more balanced social circle now in that I have plenty of friends who don't gamble. It's very hard to be disciplined when so many of your mates like to have a pint and a few bets because there's plenty of times I've turned a few fifty quid bets into four figures losses. Losing used to insanely tilt me which is obviously completely illogical and disastrous.

    Best musician/artist of all time?

Rolling Stones of any generation, but Conor Oberst is the guy I've grew up with so he'll always be my personal fav.

    Favourite part of Ireland?

Love Dublin, although I have a mate in Belmullet which should be one of the worst places ever but I've always had an insanely good weekend there. People are just too funny, and it's quite scenic too if that's your thing.

I think I hate poker, how good of an idea would it be to lay Lloyd for the maximum I can and go out in a blaze of glory either way?

    Any additions to this list?

No. I've been quite good lately. Did at bit as Shelbourne the other week but that's about it. I've been hanging out with normal people alot lately. But the degens tend to re-surface around this time of year so I'll have to be on my best behaviour.

What are you going to do in college next?

Culinary Entrepreneurship in DIT i think. If anyone wants to price up me finishing I'm interesting in taking some action.

Also Hi Cloy was an awesome animal, was at Fairyhouse the day he won the Powers. Never thought much of Hourigan though.

Only defoe and crouch should be in the england squad from spurs in my opinion.

Big Tom will defo go, spraying ball everywhere. Really quality footballer, plus Capello loves him. I'd take Ledley too, even with one leg he's still on his day the best centre back in England, would have 100 caps injury free.

Have you ever been to NI for a game of poker? If not I can recommend a good game and very cheap, if you ever need a holiday just give me a shout and I can et you in for a laugh.

    Cool. Cheers.

    Brilliant read.

I share your passion for sports betting. And poker. However, I find sports are lot easier to find value sometimes. I think its because I've only really played poker for the last 5 years.

I don't want you to exhaustively differentiate between all of the below but...

Would you find HU PLO 200, a 2m2f handicap hurdle at Clonmel, LOI, GAA, Golf or Jedward et al a bigger draw for you personally?

Is it the draw of finding the edge or a more sporting draw for you?

    Great Well. WP

    esp this

    "
There's that five or ten minutes of true pleasure after you watch the board roll out for the final pot with the last of your dollars, where you know you can't do anymore for a while and the tilt just leaves your body and you are just eerily calm for a while. Then obviously the disgust and upset kicks in, but that ten minutes are pretty fun."

Golf the greatest sport to have a punt on ?

One of fav posters C kid, Keep it up. Great Well.

What would ya rather follow(in the flesh) Tiger for 6 holes or any other golfer of your choice for 18?

US Open 2008, how much did he make you? I had him at 7/2, What ya get him at? He'd win on that course with one arm let alone one leg... although it was so close.

Do you play Fantasy premier league?

In the following markets are you a lifetime winner or loser

    Boxing?
    Snooker?
    Tennis?
    Formula 1?
    NFL?
    Rugby?
    Big Brother?
    I'm a celeb?

Who's your fav poster on here?

When do you start looking into the eurovision market and how deep where you in on the last one?

Would you play Russian Roulette for just one shot to win 5 Mllion(or name your price) , 5 empty barrells 1 Bullet.

Ever been to Listowel races? how does it rate in your diary ?

You say you tilt in poker, do you think the tendancy to tilt is a dangerous characteristic for a pro gambler.

In what way is POD overrated and give us a player equally as good who is underrated.

How would you price this treble ?

Brilliant read so far, few questions,

You say we should have more sports discussions on here, would you be interested in setting up a sports discussion thread on here like they do on 2+2? ie people laying each others bets.

If you got 2-1 on a one off toin coss, wat percentage of your roll would you put on it?

How much would you need to get to never do 1 sports bet ever again or never to play one hand of poker?

Also re the dog racing and as a former owner of a number of hounds i can concur there is no greater thrill than punting your own animal when full of the jungle juice...oops did i say to much :D
