Deal, 50k on Special Duty for the 1000 Guineas. Easy. I've always wanted to open my box on DOND though, it's just a fun gamble.

Betfair or Betdaq? (If Betfair does the 20% effect you)

Both, predominantly Betfair for the specials liquidity.

    Do you green up?

Yes, probably not as much as I should. A lot more recently, I've started to really appreciate the sexiness of an all green screen.

What sports do you specialise in?

I wouldn't say I specialise in any. I'm lucky in that I have guys that i regularly chat with who are in the top 5% of punters in a number of sports from european group racing to LOI football. According to my P&L specials, rugby, and football are my top earners. I would say I'm more knowledgeable about horse-racing and specials. And for sheer enjoyment nothing beats backing a dog but I'm a massive lifetime loser.

Any value in betting on the premiership?

In sheer betting terms, probably none for the average punter. Obviously it's going to be profitable in a number of areas.

Ireland's greatest ever sportsperson (1 only).

    Shane Kelly, seriously Aidan O'Brien

    Favorite sportsperson's autobiography?

Not a huge autobiography fan, biographies are much more interesting. Probably John Daly's.

    A funny betting story?

One of my mates is a real degen. Like busto 11/12 months. You couldn't trust him with anything, it's sad obviously but is pretty funny at times. When we were about 19 ee had been drinking one of the rugby weekends when we got word for a horse in an Irish bumper. The word from this source was golden at the time, so we wanted to back it but didn't want to miss the end of the game. Our mate obviously got landed with the task of backing it for us, as he was busto at the time and we were subbing him beer/dinner etc. He ended up with about 750 on the 11/2. He goes down to back it and horse bolts going to post and runs about a mile apparently. Mate thinking of a fast one, doesn't bother putting it on. Horse obviously wins. Now he's in big trouble as it's the bumper so he doesn't even have anything to get out on. There's a 2/1 fav in the last at some dog track, so he doubles this with the 5/2 outsider in the Spanish football game that night. Dog wins and it's all on the footie game. Mate comes back to us and told us that the local independent didn't have the readies and offered him a cheque and that we could collect the next afternoon. This happened occasionally so we didn't really think too much of it, until one of the boys asked for the slip to mind it. Mate quick as a flash pulls out a slip that he's written up and put a false initials on it at the price like the cashier used to do. It was one of the old independents and was just a pencil/stamp job. Other mate obviously doesn't notice no stamp so just pockets it and we think nothing of it. Went for dinner about eightish and degen mate keeps ducking out every ten minutes into the bar next door. Before dessert says he needs some fresh air, and that he was gonna go for a walk and would meet us in the bar after. Again we think nothing of it, as gambling addicts are always pretty strange lol, and we just presumed he'd done the loot again. Anyway meal finished we fall into the pub next door. Mate is in a corner at the back staring at tiny screen watching this Villarreal game, bout fifteen minutes to go and it's 1-1. He always backs fav so we joking about how he must be on the fav and anytime they go close we ooohing and aaahing and just generally winding him up. He's really quiet whole time and can't take his eyes off screen. Bout four minutes left and the away side break and their striker clean through slots it home. Mate jumps up on table starts manic fist-pumping and is like high-fiving. We're in fits of laughter as it just looks hilarious. Most of the pub is looking at him. Anyway score stays the same, and it's only then that he tells us the full story. Was pretty funny at the time, but slightly sad too. F*ck knows what he was gonna do if it didn't come in. It's probably the own time in his life he's benefitted from a late winner too as he is the king of conceding late accumulator busters.

Thanks for taking the time GL.

    5 films I should see before I die ?

I'd imagine you've seen most of them but my five all-time favs are probably Good Will Hunting, Wall Street, American Psycho, Millers Crossing, and then something by Tarantino. Recently I've seen The Vistor and Gigantic and enjoyed them both. I'm dating a performing arts student at the moment, so have been working my way through the EDF thread on obscure movies to make myself seem cooler. However after a few viewings I'm pretty sure she would be more impressed by High School Musical rather than Breaking The Waves.

5 albums I should listen to before I die ?

This is too hard so just going to pick my five most listened too on iTunes. Frightened Rabbit - Midnight Organ Flight, Bon Iver -For Emma, Forever Ago, The Sleepy Jackson - Lovers, The Strokes - Is This It, Bright Eyes - Letting Off The Happiness, Jason Anderson - Tonight.

Recent stuff i like that you should check out is Lovers Turn To Monsters, Cosmo Jarvis, Volcano Choir, Girls, and JEDWARD.

Favourite place in the world that you have visited ? (A little about why)

I much prefer cities than anything else. It's not very original but I love Barcelona. Just vibrant, cool, fun to explore, and it's one of the only places where my favourite things to do don't involve gambling.

If you could have dinner with any person, famous or not famous, living or dead, real or fictional. With whom would it be and why ?

Gordon Gekko. So i could try and talk him into giving me a job.

You have been given the opportunity to create an hour long TV show pilot of your own design. What is it called and what's the premise ? (Only ask cause I have had lengthy pub conversations with various random people about this but if nothing comes to mind just skip)

Great question. No clue at the moment, but I'm definitely going to use this as a conversation topic soon.

Why is Blackjack so much more fun compared to poker ?

Any social gambling games are just great. Gambling is much more fun with other people.

The best chinese food, in Dublin anyway, is all in the worst areas. Try the Jazz above the Spar in Coolock Village, or the takeaway on Shangan Rd in Ballymun, round the back of the flats, past the travelodge.

Plenty of "colourful" local characters, but the food is top notch.

What is going on in Home and Away IYO? Fav Character?

Jack is alive, and Hugo's not people smuggling he's just visiting Jack who had to leave through fear of his life for what he had uncovered and is living on an Asian island. I don't try to second guess such genius storytellers but I fancy this one for sure. We haven't had a resurrection from the dead for a while.

Chloe all-time fav female cast memeber. Donald Fisher all-time favourite male. Although if this Detective Robert Robertson keeps banging Leah and hangs around it will soon become him. He is the most exciting thing to happen to Summer Bay since The Diner opened. It's like Tarantino writes his dialogue but no one else's.

You've thrown out some great analysis of betting on social events (e.g. XFactor) in the BBV. What type of research do you do for these types of bets?

I keep records. I real Digital Spy, Betfair specials forum, and a couple of other x-factor forums religiously. I've always had a good filter when it came to reading forums, and there are a couple of guys who i listen to/msn with alot about it. I pay special attention to the twitter/facebook stats and i talk about x-factor/Big brother alot when it's on to different demographics. It's something everyone has an opinion on. Past history is also very important. There's no magic system, look at what Cowell says and does, think about what stupid people would like, and price accordingly.

Who do you think is more annoying in Home and Away, Rachel or Jai?

Rachel. AINEC. I mean traditionally Summer Bay residents are 300% more unlucky than normal people but poor Tony Holden just never catches a break. Dead wife, dead son, other son leaves, family falls apart, gets stuck with Rachel who nearly kills his baby. Just really unlucky. Now she's gone back to work without talking it through with him. B*tch.

I don't mind Jai that much. He's a slightly annoying emo who needs to get over Annie (who btw I'd like to see beaten to death). Plus it's hard to hate someone who has such fantastic hair.

Most you have ever won on a single bet?

Probably like 11 or so on a single.

Most you stood to win (but didn't) on a single bet?

Have had a couple of six-figure greens look semi - interesting at times in golf, but never really a massive sweat as I just trade anyway. Don't really do accums so don't have that one-team let me down to a last minute equaliser story. Its just not how i bet.

Best horse you have seen (flat and NH)?

Would have been fun debate before this year but STS obviously. Personal favs include George Washington, Yeats, Johannesburg, Dalakhani, Montjeu, Six Perfections, Ghostzapper, and Hawk Wing.

Istabraq. Favs include Beef Or Salmon, Rhinestone Cowboy, Kauto Star, Harchibald, and Ned Kelly.

Horse with most potential who never realised it (through injury or otherwise)?

Hawk Wing should have been one of the all-time greats.

What is the essential tool kit you use when studying form?

I've always looked at races from a US-influenced pace analysis POV. But discussion is most important for me.

    Good luck.

    Cheers

What years were you in DCU?

    2005

Did you play pool much while there?

Played once I think, with BCB and he destroyed me. I suck at it. I play nine-ball with my college mates a bit, and normally just try to up stakes so much that it will hurt them if they lose. Then i just try and cannon the nine everytime.

Did you ever win a DCU poker soc comp?

    No.

What games and stakes do you play online?

HU PLO100-200. I'm not good enough to play higher, and plus I tilt waaaaay too easily. Although i do like to try and spin it up occasionally

What sites do you play on?

Just euro sites, Betfair and iPoker mostly.

Ever been to Vegas? If so any good stories?

    No

No. People who think it should be are retarded and have no concept of sports. Plus I was born in the UK, so while I'd rather support Ireland I can just support England now anyway in South Africa. And after yesterday they'll have about four Spurs players starting so I'll be happy out.

Regarding horseracing, do you specialise in a particular race form (flat or NH) and a particlaur race type (E.g. 4yr+ handicaps in flats or handicap chasers in NH) and reasons for doing so.

which do you enjoy more, studying the form for 4 hours or playing a 4 hour poker session on line?and why?

Is it really possible to do both poker and sportsbetting(mainly horseracing ) to a very high level successfully or should you really just concentrate on one to maximise your income?

    Worst gambling moment obv?

None really. Poker annoys me way more than gambling. I've busted rolls loads of times from poker just monkey tilting away money. However I think every true degen somewhat enjoys busting anyway. There's that five or ten minutes of true pleasure after you watch the board roll out for the final pot with the last of your dollars, where you know you can't do anymore for a while and the tilt just leaves your body and you are just eerily calm for a while. Then obviously the disgust and upset kicks in, but that ten minutes are pretty fun.

    Ever tried to give up?

    Yah.

Ever REALLY tried to give up?

No. I live in Sligo, it's hardly the cultural capital of the world. Gambling is fun. When i go away I rarely think about gambling that much, on holiday I won't even check the racing results unless it's a huge race

Do you remember that Italian exchange student that was in Home and Away years ago. I think she was hit by a train. My God she was quality.

Yeah i do remember that she lived with Alf and Ailsa. That train scene was funny. There's been some good deaths over the year!

No. Marion was alright with me, her only mistake was getting caught!

Is Tiger Woods a lifetime winner or Loser for you and is it a significant amount.

Yes and yes. Although it was substantially dented by Mr Yang. I don't care what anyone says and you can debate it for as long as you like but he is the greatest living sportsman and we will never see the like again. He completely transformed the game, and his sheer mental strength is unparalleled.

What colour scheme do you use in Betfair, I like the yellow and White.

    Original. Blue and Pink.

How strong is the riggers man crush on phil babb.

Strong but he's definitely better looking than Durr so fair enough. No contest between him and Antonius though. Patric is sooooo hot.

What's your current biggest antepost bet.

Don't bet antepost much anymore. I've had a small investment on Special Duty and still think she's value. Also on Chelsea for the Prem, and Olly and Lloyd for X-Factor outright, but fear I'm in trouble with both of those.
