I'm no expert but it looks like you have some wifi issues.

Yeah, I wasn't expecting my ping to improve so dramatically. It should be noted that ping tests on Speedtest.net are not reliable but according to JD's Auto Speed Tester, when pinging Google.ie, my ping went from 30ms on ADSL2+ to 6ms on VDSL2.

It's better than some people's pings on FTTH. Pity I don't have the attention span for gaming to take advantage of it, not that my previous ping was bad either, though, I've noticed websites load a bit quicker.

Speedtest.net pings are ok, just not eniskillen. It pumps out incorrect values all the time.

Yeah, its called Horizon. The integrated wifi antenna is a farce.

Pajor: get UPC to de-consolidate your modem from the horizon box.

Can a separate router be ordered or something? I was thinking of just buying a cheap cable router.

You can either add an access point or getthem to send a cisco unit to take over internet functions and then bridge it to a decent router. If wifi is your only concern then the former will do fine.

Tesco mobile broadband sat 5.30 find it slow , are these results average.
    Ping 89ms , download 6.80mbps , upload 1.40.

In simple terms how do you know what's reasonable , the speed on net is ok to poor presently thks

Really? Here's my Horizon on WiFi (admittedly, same room):

Range might be crap, but throughput is fine. I use homeplugs (ty Eircom ;) ) and an old router in bridge mode to extend all around my apartment. Its a large duplex I've recently moved to (within the last 3 weeks) and I can't get any WiFi signal from upstairs to downstairs.

Thats a good line. I'd give it 24hrs to make sure all is stable then call em and ask for a reprofile.

I personally find the server in Carlow to be shíte! (Sorry BlackKnight :pac:)

I tend to use the few in Dublin and they usually give better results.

That's just me though I guess!

    Nice speeds!

Every other provider uses the Eircom network, don't they?
We don't here many problems about Eircom broadband, so I think that there is something a much somewhere.

Got sky in yesterday. It started off very pretty with a 12 up 3 down on a few occasions and then after 15 minutes down to 2. Shocking as I wouldn't be expecting much congestion and I am close enough to the exchange I believe.

Will post some snaps tonight as in work now.

This is just getting stupid now,I can't believe how bad things are getting with our local exchange(Dunmore East).
Since July the connection speed between 8-12:30 every night has dropped from a slow but stable(for the last 4 years) 6-7MB download speed,
to between 0.5 MB to 2MB.
This is not just my connection but most in the area.We are officially going backwards and getting close to dial-up again:eek:

    Here's my current speed.......

    3683045439.png

Here we are an hour later.......

    3683136171.png

And we are getting back to normal(regular rubbish speed)...........and breathe;)

    3683259736.png

    Last one.......
