Have a look at the MD80, I have a few and they seem to be doing fine.

    Aircraft: MD80
Fuel consumption: 14 lbs per km
    Passenger seats: 130
    Max range: 6000 km
    Cruise speed: 811 km/h

    Pilots required: 2
    Cabin crew required: 4
    Mechanics required: 3
    Cleaning required: 2

Were just about back in to profits.

Yep, it seems they go offline at 23:00 each night...I was only about 2 minutes away from kicking off my next flight and it went offline:mad:

I've had enough of buying small aircraft like the ATR and the BAE146, I'm going to hold on to my money and wait until I can but a plane with decent range...something like 4000km at least with a capacity of at least 100pax. Can anyone recommend such a plane given a tight budget (around 2 million)?

the md80 had 6k range for 2.1 and the super constellation has a 8k range for 1.8m

737-100 for $1.1mill with range of 3440km and 118 paxs or the 737-500 for $1.8mill with an extra 1000km range and 5 extra paxs.
    I'd buy 2 737-100s if I was you !

    Wasn't aware of this thread.
Please invest in my airline- rather unimaginatively- Airlingus airlines.......

At the moment flying 14 routes out of Dublin.

    1 * B737-800 (Dublin to Ottawa)
    1 * ATR 42-500
    1 * DHC-8-Q300
    6 * Il-114-100
    1 * YS-11A-200
    3 * Challenger 600
    1 * DHC-7

    Latest route is Dublin-Dakar.......

    route_graph_in_air.php?uid=729064545

I was focusing on traditional routes with a high demand rating- moving rapidly towards long distance even at lower demand ratings.

Please invest in Airlingus Airlines........ :)

Planning on upgrading my smaller aircraft to longhaul and dropping some routes (such as Dublin-Lisbon).

Good job there, you can add me to the list..Brí airlines but it appears as BrÁ on AM.
Those stats helped me to decide who to invest in. I'm still waiting for fuel prices to drop to around $400-$800. I've only got 39,000 lbs left in the tank and around $400,000 in the bank after investing in a new aircraft.

Does it help when people invest in your company, nobody has invested in mine so I don't know what the benefits are!

When I was investing in milltown airlines it was €1.51 a share but when the transaction went through it was €2.07,I bought 10,000 and now it's €2.24 I think. Good investment for a few minutes work:)

I'll list the following from tomorrow. Just post if you want to be listed.

    Airlingus Airlines
    Avail Airlines
    WHU Air Airlines
    BrÃ* Airlines
    milltown Airlines

The prices are only a snapshot in time, and the percentage change reflects the prices of the stocks at the time of my most recent post compared to the prices at the time of the previous day's post, if that makes sense.
    I can't watch everything now!

just got in, 10,000,000lb purchased, only cost 4mill so that'll keep me going for a few days, mainly going long haul, can't be arsed logging on all the time to send off my shiity little planes. Eventually will get rid of them all and just fly minimum 10hr legs

    FUEL AT $400...BUY.....BUY....BUY....BUY...

I don;t think it helps the airline you invest in. They do however get a perk/achievement when there are 800K shares bought in them. The benefit is really for the investor to spot a commited player and invest earlt to reap rewards a month or two later.
Receeding HAirlines are on the up...Saved enough to buy a 340-200 and now after 2 or 3 days I get enough revenue from it to buy another
It definitely snowballs. Last saturday I was saving for my 4th A342. I just bought 2 more to bring my total to 16 (plus 2 B787)
Thats at least $16M profit a day just using them on 1 flight. And 12 A342 bought in one week.

D'bonair Airlines currently at $7.23 share price with 51 aircraft.

For those of you starting: Whether you stick with the initial B737-800 or sell it to get cheaper MD80s/B731s/ATR I advise you to try to get the most range out of each flight. Sent the E190 4000KM away, the longer the route the dearer the ticket. I started on Dublin to Europe, slowly added E190s/B737s/A320s then started to use the bigger a/c on routes Europe to Africa/USA/Asia. Stretch those legs and earn money. Better to sent a B738 on a 6 hour flight than on 6 one hour flights. Less airport charges and less lgging on for you.

Don't be disheartened by those of us with large fleets/big shares prices. As you buy a/c you will see your stock rise. My stock has jumped from $3 to $7 in the last 4-5 days based on buying some larger a/c. While you may have to work at getting money in,you will hit a critical mass in a week or so where you will be buying an aircraft a day, then 2 a day, then a large a/c a day, then 2 of them a day.

I was lucky and bought 8 E190s early on before they updated the prices. I got them at $1.4M each. This gave me a solid base to work with . Those 8 a/c paid for 4 B739s which then increased my revenue allowing me to slowly add B737-700s (10) I then switched all my flights to maximum range. I then bought some A320/A321s. Then I bought an A342. This was my critical point. That A342 and the 2nd one 3 days later snowballed into my current fleet of 16 A342s.

    30K shares bought in AirLingus

    Phew, got in on time.
2,000,000 lbs for me- I bought an AN-10 last night for a Dublin-Moscow route, which vacuumed up some excess cash.......

I really need to get working on long haul!

Finally seem to be getting the hang of this :) Just bought another two MD80s and plan to buy a 737-700 later today or tomorrow. Share price is performing nicely too.

    Air-Madrid

    Total Flights: 99
    Pax of all Time: 6898
    Reputation: 100.%

    Company Value: $2,267,087

    Stock Price: 0.22
    graph.png

    Fleet:
    1x B737-800
    3x MD80
    1x ATR 72-500
    1x ATR 42-500
    1x CRJ 200LR
    route_graph_in_air.gif

Overall I'm pleased with the performance, it does take time to increase funds for new aircraft and what-not. Few pointers I've picked up over the last 2 weeks of playing it are, as others have said, buy fuel when it's low. It seems to be staying at $400 longer that what it used to. Also, keep an eye on the price of advertising too, it's possible to get Billboards for $5,000 a day which will maximise profits on routes. And use the various websites out there to use your aircraft to their full potential. This image was posed earlier in the thread and is also useful.
