in case there is any confusion about what i said in an earlier quote about always
people playing with me. what i meant is my friends regularly come to my house and play for the night on their on accounts.

I read a book Outliers, the story of success by Malcolm Gladwell recently. He said experts need to put in about 10,000 hours before they become expert. Have you put in 10,000 hours?

i would reckon i must be close if not over the 10000 hrs u talk about. but the 10000 hrs i played could be like 40 or 50 k for someone else considering the number of tables i play.

Do you play any cash games?

What's your living situation? Any desire to leave Ireland?

live with my wife and 2 kids happy where i am, no intension of going anywhere at the moment. cant see that changing unless they bring in some sort of tax.

How did you develop you're style of play?
What type of style of play do you find hardest to play back at or against?
When you came back for the final day in the SCOOP, did you have a strategy plan out?
You seem to have played very aggressive in the SCOOP, was this a major rush for you when you kept 3/4 betting Pearljammer etc?
What rules did you use for bankroll management before you're big cash?

WP on a great 2 years of results.

i gradually developed my style from learning from my mistakes and watching what some of the top players were doing.
    hate playing against maniacs
my plan was to play my stack. when i could afford to pull moves without crippling myself i did.
i knew most of the players on the ft and knew alot of them reraise light so when i thought the time was right i popped them back. the deep stacks we were playing made this easy.
i was never too good at managing my bankroll once played the 100-r with $200 in my acc. thankfully i got a bit better at managing it now

Who is your favourite casino manager and why am I ?

Thanks for taking the time to do this Jude.

In the first three levels of a multi day live tournament will you take a known race for all your chips?

    Do you multitable MTT's ?

Do you keep notes, if so can you tell us a bit about how you use them

Do you use any software tools like HEM PT?

Do you play many other sites besides stars?

Have you done any training replay videos with commentary of your big games?

What kind of hours do you keep?`

You finish fifth on a significant final table, how do you feel ?

    definitely not

    yes

i take alot notes on players. if i m ever in a hand against a player i have a note on, it along with stats i have on the player as well as how the betting went during the hand help me come to a decision

    HEM

    ps ft pp and party

    no

start at 6 play till between 12 and 4 the later the better

it always hurts to be knocked out but as long as i did nt make a mistake i usually get over it quick

best/worst things you can do at the table?eg ipod, sunglasses, focus

best image to have at the table in a standard tourney live/online midway/late on?

do you think players have different tendencies between online and live?are they expoitable?

fondest memory from the game over the years?

thought i'd throw a few in,thanks for doing this!!

best thing u can do is give the players the total wrong opinion of your game. if your tight its going to benefit u if they the opposite eventually they cop, but it can take a while. worst thing is only paying attention to hands u play-watch every single hand

i always try to give the image i m tight. nobody falls for it ireland because there is usually a few players at the table who know me and my style. but when i play abroad i m usually unknown.

    5 betting pearljammer with 88

During one of the first hands at the wcoop final table Pearljammer 4 bet, you 5 bet and he folded (maybe 3 and 4 bet), both of ye had air. Had you some sort of timing/sizing tell? Or can you tell us your thought process?

i knew he was capable of doing it with air and i could afford to 5 bet him and not do too much damage to my stack. i had already decided that if he flatted me i was nt going to put another chip in the pot without a set

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,454 ✭✭✭TripleAce

You mention you use Hold'em Manager...what fetures do you use the most for tourneys? Do you also use HUD, and if yes what stats you think are the most important for tourneys?

    Thanks and good luck!

    Hi Jude,

    - Why is Stars your fav site?

    - (Serious question here) - do you have any personal techinques in trying to control your breathing/BPM when you're playing live? - do you use yoga or any other holistic methods? Any breathing techniques?

    - Do you have any general advice for controlling that rush of adrenolin during play in order to minimise tells?

    Thanks.

congrats on your results, very impressive.

have you ever come across sckill (stars) or sckilla (fulltilt)? if so how did you find his play?

obv you change gears as tournaments progress and considering your table etc. but overall would you say you more often employ and TAG or LAG strategy in the early to mid stages of a large field tournament when stacks are still 30/40bb+?

at the moment i m really enjoying playing poker so not sorry about turning my back on science. i ll always have my qualification so if things take a turn for the worst i ve got a back up plan

i rarely tilt, when i do i find the best is just take a 5 or 10 min break sit out if you have to

4 whats the bmw like on petrol
5 why did rooneydives stop playing (any1)

    1. yes, if you've got a good game u can consistently make money playing tourneys without a big score
    2. if the 2 of us are playing the same big tourney we normally swap 10%
3.early i play fairly tight, once the antes come in i start raise a lot more hands,
in the late stages i play my most aggressive game especially short handed

well done on everything super results from a top player,

how far do u think rizla will go tonight?? surely close to a big one and will you be with him watching him take it down :)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 52 ✭✭j.thaddeus

How big an influence has Fintan " the godfather of soul " Gavin had on your poker career.

Putt these Galway players in order of how you rate them as players; Pat Callahan, Dave Curtis, Silky, Keith McFadden, Derek Murry, Fintan.

When I hear the terms " getting it quietly ", " most underrated player " one player always springs to mind for me; would you agree ( hint, he can fling a seven iron 100 yards )

    You have a PHD ( in bio-chemistry ? ), reckon you'll ever use it.

Isn't it about time mr Rizla hit that six figure score; he gets there so often, is he doing something wrong deep or just running bad late.

Whats the most someone tried to nip you for after your scoop touch.

the hand i remember from your scoop win was when you double floated a guy and then took the pot on the river, can you go through your thought process for that hand.

Good Luck in the well and thanks for taking the time.

fintan taught us all how to play, i think he invented the game. we ll never fully be able to repay him but the 50% we give him out of our scores shows our appreciation

are u trying to get me into trouble, derek- 1st silky- last

ya he can definitely play, but would want a few more big scores if hes going to keep firing clubs around like that

    doubt it

ya its only a matter of time. tonight could be his night cant wait till 10. the only problem is enpea is still there with chips

not much, every1 knows i m i tight bastard so they don't waste there time

i had played a lot of hands against this player on previous tables. he was calling lots of my raises and i coped he was donk betting when fairly weak.(i raised w a9 he fc from bb w a10) the flop came k-high w a spade flush d. i did nt think he had the k because he was check raising me when he did flop a hand. so i floated the flop bet, thinking he was putting me on a draw or maybe a king. the spade hit on the turn and he lead out again i flatted. i thought by me flat calling twice it made my hand look like a monster especially after the flush coming, and i would be able to put him off a marginal hand on the river. he had less than 15% of his stack in by the river so unless he put a pot sized bet on the river he was getting reraised.

only messing silky and gl tonight nic

    Cheers for doing this Jude.

Would you swap your SCOOP win for a WSOP event with a smaller prize?

Who do you think will be the next big thing from Ireland?

Why do you think there is such a strong pool of talent currently in Galway?

Who would you rather be Nicky Power or Flipper Walsh?

i would be willing to drop up to $150k if it meant a braclet

    ashling

when good players play against each other regularly it really improves your game

Do you put alot of faith in feel opposed to thinking about a hand logically and breaking it down.
Dose one suit cash (feel/logic) and one suit tourneys?
Do you play cash if so what games stakes and how do you fare?
Name the top five things that make you a successful player.

i go with my gut feeling a lot but i get that feeling by putting all the pieces together

    i wouldn't think so

    good head for numbers
    patience
    mentality (don't steam easy)
    bankroll management
    experience
    balls

In terms of poker where do you see yourself in 5 years time?
Have you ever felt out of your league on the poker table live or online?
What players made you feel like this if any? live & online?
Have you good BR management or are you a degenerate like most of us on ere?:pac:
Are you any good at golf?
Who has had the biggest impact in teaching, advising you in your poker career?
Who is the best player live and online youve played with?
Is it true that you galway feckers only got good at poker because ya`s all got sh1t faced on the contaminated water and developed super soul reading/luckboxing powers?
    Tomato sauce or Brown sauce?
    Chicken or Ham?
Is it true that you can run faster than Usain Bolt even giving him a headstart?
    Gary Glitter or Michael Jackson?
Yes or No for the lisbon treaty?

    Qne question from me

Did the 900k+ cash affect your ability to play small buy in donkaments much. Obv it would but were you able to go back to playing the lesser ones, or did you ever. Does a 10k 1st prize in a 3000 runner field interest you anymore.
