I've had to listen to this ham for the last two weeks, it's so atrocious I'm thinking of moving to another country where they've banned it (probably plenty of them).

Am I missing something with this song, it's huge, massive and yet has lyrics like:
"la la la la laaa la la la la lalalalalala"

"I wanna wanna wanna get get get what I want
    Don't stop
    "

    "See you, breathe you,
    I want to be you
    Alalalala alalalala"

"Give me give me give me all of you you
    Don't be scared"

    Yeah don't be scared.

I mean, Jesus, this is the kind of music 6 year old girls make up in their bedrooms when Blue was alive.

This has bothered me for too long at this stage, and I've been hiding it and bottling it up. I need some kind of validation.

That's undoubted song writing talent there I didn't know it was possible to transcribe the female orgasm into lyrical form!

I don't think it's a massive song on account of the lyrics. Most big songs aren't...

    🤪

Their song is clearly a "fake" orgasm.

I more so mean it's popularity on Irish radio, it's played to a "why have my ears fallen off the side of my head" degree, which is against health regulations. Listen to 98, FM104, Spin, TodayFM (slight improvement), they bang it out with incredible regularity.

Don't listen to the radio. I found this a handier solution than the killing urge put into me by The Killers a few years back. God damn I hate those sh*t twats.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 274 ✭✭johnmacward

More to the point, the pop music industy, fair enough, releases pretty bad music and lyrically most are hopeless (in my opinion of course) but the songs sound competent, they're catchy at least, the rythym's are syncopated, logical. This song on the other hand...

    See you,
    Breathe you,
    I want to be you.

It's a strange deviation, Cascada make better music than this.

My problem is, it's always ON in work. Occasionally i throw on Today, Phantom, even RTE1 but eventually an earthquake rocks and it slides back to the centre of the dial toward 98.

Anyone else have this problem, you generally despise popular music and yet know every lyric.

Aaah lad. Do you honestly believe the stations in dublin are better than Culchie FM? 98/104/spin whatever are just comercial talking clocks. Remember how sh!te atlantic 252 was with its songs repeated every hour? Well just put a dublin accent on it and thats the dirge you get up here.

Im sure ye have pirate radio stations that play metal or rock? Whenever I drive up to Dublin this is the case anyway.

Theres NOTHING in the line of variety down here, its the euro pop SHYTE on Spin, Beat, 2FM, TodayFM orrrrr the fiddly diddly on the local stations and Radio1.

Lyric FM, what a load of bollocks.

    Rock station FTW here.

I mostly listen to talk shows and flick between Radio 1 and Newstalk for that.

Our pirate stations are mostly the WORST dance music ever, no rock ones. Phantom used to be pirate rock, then got a license and now plays soft indie throughout the day. It's not the worst but it's not the best either. It's great when they whack on a bit of Thin Lizzy. I feel alive again.

Current Sugababes song is pretty bad:

When I'm shopping with my girls they say Hey Sexy
In a two piece at the beach they say Hey Sexy
When they put me on their arms
    So they maximize their charm
Cause I'm shining like a star
    Yeah, I'm so sexy

Remember George Harrison's "Got My Mind Set On You"

    WEIRD AL YANKOVIC

"(This Song's Just) Six Words Long"

This song is just six words long
This song is just six words long
This song is just six words long
This song is just six words long

    Couldn't think of any lyrics
No I never wrote the lyrics
So I'll just sing any old lyrics
    That come to mind, child

    You really need words
    Whole lotta rhyming words
You gotta rhyme so many words, mm-mm
To do it, to do it, to do it, to do it
To do it, to do it right, child

This song is just six words long
This song is just six words long
This song is just six words long
This song is just six words long

I know that you're probably sore
'Cause I didn't write any more
I just didn't get to complete it
So that's why I gotta repeat it

This song is just six words long (six words long)
This song is just six words long (six words long)

Oh I make a lotta money
They pay me a ton of money
They're payin' me plenty of money
    To sing this song, child

    I gotta fill time
    Three minutes worth of time
Oh, how will I fill so much time, mm-mm
    I'll throw in a solo, a solo, a solo
    A solo, a solo here

This song is just six words long
This song is just six words long
This song is just six words long
This song is just six words long

This song's got nothin' to say
    But I'm recording it anyway
I know if I put my mind to it
I know I could find a good rhyme here

    Oh, you gotta have-a music
    You need really catchy music
This song has got plenty of music
    But just six words, child

And so I'll sing' em over
And over and over and over
And over and over and over, mm-mm
And over and over and over
And over and over and over again

Six words long, six words long
Six words long, six words long
Six words long, six words long

This song is just six words long
    It's just six words long

Nothing can be as bad as the following lyric from 90's group Snap's song "Rhythm is a Dancer" :

    "I'm serious as cancer
when I say rhythm is a dancer!"

Although Shakira's "Whenever, Wherever" song came close with this classic:

"Lucky that my breasts are small and humble
So you don't confuse them with mountains"

I'm surprised I haven't been eaten alive for saying this stuff about the Veronica's, some idiots are buying the singles obviously.

I should named the topic: The Veronica's: most intriguing lyrics of all time? then I'd get the fans.

Or maybe EVERYBODY thinks the Veronica's are sh1te. Completely possible.

I concur completely, especially on Shakira's breasts that aren't as big mountains line. I mean for **** sake.

Lady Gaga is like that as well to be fair, lyrics don't make any sense as if shes trying to take the piss out of the general public. She says everyday: "I can't believe they love my bull****, the absolutley LOVE it".

Who gives a fuck about lyrics?
It's all about the music. The rhythm, the chord-progressions, the melody. That's what makes listening to music feel good. The specific words used in the melody are just an afterthought, a formality.

I'm not saying the songs mentioned are good, but if you honestly think that lyrics are anywhere near as important as the 3 things mentioned above, imo you are either one of those "art-****" or a musical retard.

JohnMacWard as someone else said the only station worth listening to is radioIpod which plays no hits from the 80's or 90's does play actual non stop music and does not repeat the same six songs every hour on the hour(well unless thats your bag) but seeing as your stuck in a workplace where that cant happen i suggest radioSilence sponsored by the good people at http://www.earplugsonline.com/

Because there's a lot of art-**** out there :D.

But more importantly, people like to know the lyrics of a song so they can sing along. Nothing wrong with that.

Think of all the good, catchy songs that have been released in recent years (there have been some). Now think about their lyrics. hmmmmm....

Ask someone to sing "seven nation army" by the white stripes. Chances are they won't even sing the lyrics at all, rather they'll sing the guitar riff. Strange .

And what about classical music. An aweful lot of classical music is fully instrumental. Think of the best instrumental classical songs. Are they somehow inferior because they lack lyrics?

This discussion should be in the music forum!

I didn't want to suggest that songs without words are in anyway lesser, but to suggest that words are not important in music is absolute toss. Words can convey very strong emotions and sentiments very quickly so as part of a song which tries to convey any experience they are very useful to the creator to express the same to his/her/their audience.

Words are very powerful and used in conjuction with good music can make good songs. they are In no way the lesser part of a song in fact good lyrics can often drive the creation of the music, froma song writing POV.

To belittle someone for listening to lyrics is a bit mindless though and does nothing except make you seem pretentious.

Stop, please just stop. You're hurting my brain. Lyrics can or can not matter, some music is great because of it's lyrics over all the other elements, think Neutral Milk Hotel or Bob Dylan. However some music is soured by it's sh*tty lyrics, think Muse. This music however has only one redeeming feature, it makes girls dance like sluts in clubs. The lyrics are the easiest thing to attack though.
