I'm using it on the regular Desire myself. Took a walk there down to the shops and left my WiFi. Took my phone out of my pocket when I was down there and noticed that the Wifi had been turned off, even though the little widget had said for it to be on. Kinda smart the way it does that. I like it. Haven't gotten too deep with the custom setting. Just working off the default profile, for now.

On my HD Juice Defender keeps turning on my 3g connection when I don't have Wifi selected. Really annoying - selects the sync option too so it connects my phone to the net AND downloads info regardless of whether I want it to or not.

Prefered the previous version of JD, the UI was not as clean but it didn't do this 3G crap to me..... can't work out how to stop it, have tried a load of settings.

Lads any good apps for keeping track of blogs? I subscribe to lots through Google Reader, there's probably an app for that...

Ideally I'd like an app that, whenever it has an internet connection, saves the most recent blog posts locally, so that I can read them on the bus etc

My phone is a Samsung Galaxy 5 BTW... Android virgin over here :p

Try Pulse. Slickest RSS reader in my opinion.

I've searched the thread and can't believe there hasn't been a mention of it yet... alchemy... addictive little game where you have to combine different elements to unlock new ones. Aim to unlock all 360 of them. Easier to use on a tablet cos of the workspace, but still as addictive On the small screen. :) there are two different ones On the market, its the one with the testtube/beaker icon.

Whats the best app for controlling a PC/Laptop via the SGS?

Is there an app which turns the SGS screen into a virtual mouse pad?

    Ben

anyone got any tips for streaming remote media from a home pc?

i needed a bit extra on my data allowance for the month to get online from a remote office, but it was either 250mb for €4.99 or 7gb ('unlimited') for €14.99 so i went for the big'un and figured I'd just make the most of it. :D

I've got orb installing now on the htpc at home (via teamviewer, very handy :)) and installed orblive and androrbto test, but i was wondering if anyone knew of any alternatives to get access to my music & video collection?

Subsonic is your friend and massively superior to Orb. Go to www.subsonic.org to find out more. The app is brilliant for streaming music and recently added video too. Very easy to set up and get started. I think I use this app nearly every day tbh, and can't recommend it highly enough!

good stuff, i'll give them a go now since orb failed to stream any video at all to orb live or androrb. :(

That costs a tenner  I'm actually looking for somenthing similar but free

Gmote is free and will do music also, not video though (only mp4 no xvid or divx).

Except gmote sucks. I think subsonic is well worth a tenner since it'll let you stream from any computer or device you want as long as it has a net connection, and not just your phone. You get what you pay (or not) for with these things ...

there's a free version of orb live in the android market, but being as the free version doesn't seem to work i doubt they get many takers for the paid version. :)

    Hi all,

Has anyone used the TVU, DROIDtv, Direct TV or similar apps on their Android phone?

I'm particularly interested in hearing what the streaming picture/sound quality is like and whether the promised content (particularly live Premiership soccer and TV series like The Soprano's, Boardwalk Empire, The Wire etc) is easily available either FOC or via a small monthly/annual subscription?

It would be cool to be able to stream movies/TV Series on demand or watch big games when travelling.

    Ben

What sort of media? I have just installed AudioGalaxy. Best App i have every had. Have it installed on my Mac at home. All my music on there. Out and about, I can listen to it streaming, or when Im in work, I can stream directly to my laptop. It effectively turns your phone into an ipod, but with unlimited allowance!
