Anyone any recommended apps for playing audio books?

I'm playing them through stock music player atm , but it's doing my head in that it doesn't seem to save my position, but starts from the beginning of the chapter each time I leave and return to the app

The Android app I find is must-have is Hailo.

However I'm also trying to help amateur start-ups like Jugger Match by installing to help boost the profile of such groups (provided that it's free, of course)

Timely just recently has been made a free App as the company has been acquired by Google.

It's a very pretty alarm app with Cloud sync between devices and options regarding snoozing & alarm puzzles.

Timely was always free. With in app purchases to expand customization and functions

Sorry my phrasing might have been slightly misleading.
The app is now completely free, with all features unlocked.

Is Cabbage still worth getting or is there a similar app around?

It seems to be either TextDroid or Cabbage.

I can't send webtexts any more using cabbage (I'm with vodafone). I did post at the time in the cabbage thread but got no reply, so it looks like the app is no longer supported.**edit** I had the paid version.

I used to use cabbage but the last two networks I have been on let me send unlimited texts, so I have no need for it any more. I did buy the paid versions as well to support the developer, which I think most people should do if they use or used it.

I still find it handy when I'm abroad. Saves me a fortune.

How did you get the promotional credit?

For just over a fiver you can get the full version on beyondpod. It's great for keeping up to date with all your favorite podcasts if that's your thing.

Podcast addict is free (donation version simply removes an ad banner at bottom) and is an excellent option.

It is still supported - there was a recent update for fix an O2 issue. I believe that a Vodafone Captcha solution was developed, but I don't know if it works successfully.

It worked fine with the captcha up to December but now when it comes to reading the captcha, the app crashes every time. I've posted this but got no response.

The O2 update took a while too, so persevere!

Can anyone recommend an app to transfer files 500MB - 1GB between two Android devices using home wifi.
I've tried ES File Explorer but it keeps failing half way through. I know I could connect the devices to the pc & transfer that way but I was thinking a direct transfer would be easier. Thanks.

There's an app called Fast File Transfer, might do the job

You could try using a DLNA app.
I think BubbleUpnP allows you to transfer files.

Handy for file transfers and if you have DLNA devices at home then you'll probably use the app for music/movies/pictures from time to time.

Give Super beam a shot. I find it works really well and incredibly fast.

Thanks to Beardo81 ,Fluffy88 & Vinz Mesrine for your suggestions. I had a look at them & Super beam seemed the easiest to set up for my requirements. It worked perfectly.
Thanks again for all the suggestions.

Is it against boards rules to ask about apps that give you free coins for games??
