ive got an s4 and have to say the battery is excellent.

On my work days i leave the house at 6am and dont get home till 9pm.

my phone always lasts the day. i wouldnt be a heavy user but i make the odd call/browse the net a bit. for the makority of the time though it is not in use.

Good tip re the extra battery, also you can buy a usb charger on ebay for about a fiver. you would be surprised the amount of items that have usb ports these days and can therefore charge your phone.

    tvs for example...

I'd say the missus is a heavy user that checks Facebook every 5 minutes. Any phone my gf ever had, had poor battery life. Funny how all the phones have the same issue :) my s4 used to use up 25% from 8am to 6pm on a work day with WiFi always on, brightness half way up and GPS location and whatnot on, and then I'd kill it reading news and other stuff after work by 12 pm.

Hope the missus doesn't know your boards account.

;) she doesn't. She knows the story anyways, but she ain't ready to go for the likes of the note line up to get that excellent battery life.

I had 2 spare batteries and an external charger for my s4. Pop the back of the phone and your fully charged in 2 minutes :)

Anyway to get back to the subject. Anyone whos looking to stream media from phone to a DLNA device like Xbox or smart TV should check out "all cast" pretty good and simple app. Let's you play movies, music and pics very easily.

Also Check out "Cast To UPnP/DLNA for GMusic"
    https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bubblesoft.android.upnpcast

Tricks your phone into thinking that your smart TV or Xbox is a chromescast device and let's you stream Google music directly from your phone. Pretty nifty stuff.

Both apps come with a trial and paid to unlock full features.

is it FB draining the battery?

No matter what app you install It shouldn't be dropping 70% in 3 hours unless you are constantly using it playing games. Even then it shouldn't be that high.

Have you had the phone long?

    About 6 months

Your missing the point. Using the phone more is draining the battery, not Facebook. Don't forget there's all these others things have to work in order to get you to Facebook, internet and everything else.

    More use = less battery

Main use say for a night out would be the internet and taking pictures. Have to leave the internet on for viber etc. Still though it shouldnt go down this fast should it??

No. Then again Id always make sure I have 100% before going out.

Try using your phone in safe mode. If it behaves the same means it could be a faulty battery or something else.

To boot into safe mode without all the installed apps just press and hold the menu button when the phone is starting. That will just confirm weather its a faulty app draining your battery or the phone itself.

Most addictive, fun, yet very simple game I've played in AGES.

there is a free version for those who want to get a feel for it.

Check out "Train Crisis Plus" - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.uplayonline.traincrisis

    yeah.

though i was asking if you knew/thought that the FB app was draining the battery, always syncing, etc.
the app's probably worse on the battery, than just logging in through the browser

I've seen it mentioned here before that the fb app is very heavy on the battery.

check here (or ask) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2392504 if you don't trust/want to install the other one

though it'll do no harm, install away

I had some issues with AceStream. First trying to find the apk. Then when I did it wouldn't work.

What did work and what I'd recommend is to skip to step 2.
Download Torrent Stream Controller from the Play store. Open that and select a channel (SS1 for me). It will detect that you don't have acestream and will download it.
    Worked fine for me then.

I've done this and it plays on my S3 for about a minute and then freezes.... I wouldn't mind whatsoever if I could watch it in SD or lower quality and more reliable....

I've tried it a lot of times now and my WiFi connection is pretty good.....

    Any suggestions?

Google play music. It has an add to queue feature for making an on the fly playlist. Plus you can upload all your music to the cloud for free (up to 30,000 songs) or you can use their streaming service for €10 a month.

My favorite for playing music on my device is PowerAmp!

Plus the full version unlocker is just €0.77 at the moment.

I like N7 Player but it's only a trial, still works after but it wants you to buy the app.

    Anyone use Llama?
