Neighbours' 2010 season finale will see one Ramsay Street residence go up in flames, it has been reported.

According to TV Soap, the dramatic incident will provide a big cliffhanger as the final episode of the year airs in Australia next month.

Pictures published by the magazine show a burning Number 26 - the Scullys' house - as Lyn (Janet Andrewartha), Karl (Alan Fletcher) and Lucas (Scott Major) look on outside.

Although a number of characters are known to be departing Neighbours in the months ahead, it is currently unknown whether there will be any fatalities in the blaze.

The storyline has not yet been officially confirmed by the show's bosses, but executive producer Susan Bower has promised an explosive end to 2010 in her latest diary entry on the programme's official website.

Bower wrote: "As the end of year nears, it's one shock after another with some very emotional stories and a bit of fun thrown in as well. We've already filmed the end-of-year cliffhanger. It was sensational with lots of shocks, so I hope you enjoy the rollercoaster ride!"

In Australia, the fire episode will be the final edition to air before Neighbours makes its move from Channel Ten to Eleven next year. Meanwhile, it is expected to be transmitted in the UK in early 2011.

About time they revieled who pushed paul! Rebecca is fecked  uh oh!

Poor Rebecca, I was thinking it wouldn't be as simple as her walking in and handing the divorce papers. Was she the person who was texting Susan all along? I wonder will Kate figure out she was responsible.

I enjoyed Karl serenading Susan, she seemed very impressed and happy.

Neighbours character Mark Brennan will stay on the soap for another year, it has been revealed.

Scott McGregor will continue to play the detective, who has been investigating the attempted murder of Paul Robinson.

A source told the Daily Star Sunday: "Scott McGregor, who plays Mark, was brought in for a few weeks to cover the investigation into Paul's attack.

"But the girls went mad for him. We haven't seen a reaction like it for years, so his contract was extended until the end of next year.

"He's got some great stuff coming up and everyone is looking forward to how the viewers react when they see what he gets up to in 2011. There's going to be another hot relationship hitting Ramsay Street."

Production firm FreMantleMedia Australia is to initiate cuts to crew operations on Neighbours in 2011.

The company made the decision so that a change in the soap's production model can be upgraded, according to TV Tonight.

Sources revealed that changes will include studio shoots reduced from three to two cameras, while one camera will be used for location shoots. Locations are said to be confined to the Lassiter's, Ramsay Street and occasional one-off places.

Due to the changes, the location manager and catering team have been dropped from the programme. Other roles including technical directors and art directors may also be cut.

A spokesman for FreMantleMedia Australia said: "Neighbours is undergoing a workflow upgrade to accommodate advances in technology and production techniques to ensure we are at the forefront of professionalism and efficiency.

"This initiative to contemporaise the creative and production process of Neighbours is being driven by FreMantleMedia Australia’s desire to produce the best possible programme possible.

"The Neighbours production model has been in place since 1985, it is time to evolve and adapt the international standards now used to create high-turnover drama production."

Legendary Neighbours character Harold Bishop will return to Ramsay Street next year, a cast member has confirmed.

Ryan Moloney, who plays Toadie in the serial, told TV Week that actor Ian Smith will reprise his role "for a little bit".

He enthused: "I know that Harold is coming back for a little bit, I can't wait. I love Ian and it's good to work with an old friend."

Smith was last seen on Neighbours in February, having announced his retirement in August 2008. The star has since admitted that he "struggled" on the show.

Decided not to ration my last 3 episodes and watched them all last night, at the end of the last one she said it would be the 25th before it's back. :( The day after I go back to college, just typical. :(

Really wanted to see more of this detective brennan! :D Anyone know where I could watch it before it comes onto our screens, Australia must be way ahead of us. On that note why is there such a difference between Australia and us?

I think Australia always take a break at Christmas or before it so they take it off the air here so we don't catch up..

Grr, I am then going away on the 28th so will have to set it to record.. I think it is back on in the UK this week.. I think it may be on youtube..

But why the need for the gap between Australia and us in the first place?

If your not going away for more than 3 weeks you can just catch up on the rte player, or watch it on the rte player if your away somewhere with access to the internet and a computer. Now Im off to search youtube! :D

'Neighbours' star Ian Smith has been speaking about his return to Ramsay Street as the legendary Harold Bishop.

During an interview with Holy Soap, Smith was asked if he could give any details about Harold's upcoming storyline.

    Warning: spoiler alert!

He replied: "Well, I'd have to kill you if I told you too much! Harold is called back to Ramsay Street to help a friend, and of course you all think you know who that friend is, and you're all wrong. And of course there's human pathos, there's laughs - lots of laughs - [and] a little bit of romance, but I'm not saying who for, because I don't think she/he would like me to let it out."

He added: "Look, there's a little bit of everything, but the thing is it's all a happy ending and it couldn't be better, and I loved it."

Smith said his return to the show could last from "maybe six weeks to a couple of months".

Great to have Neighbours back this week. Really good week, even though I knew what was going to happen I was still shocked when Steph was found guilty and the given 6 yrs. Her final scence where she looked at the photo of all her friends and then turned it over to see the message from Lynn, was really moving.

I would have preferred for her to have a more happy exit but it was good that it was a story that built over a number of months what with the Dan fling, the pregnancy, the fake marriage, the fallout with Libby, the handing over of the baby, the post natal depression, the ploughing down of Ringo (RIP), the drama of the court case. So long Steph you will be missed.

In reality would Sam have been allowed to prosecute that case?

I'm glad Steph got sent down and is gone :) - she should have left a long long time imo

I dont understand why Toadie didnt try and get Sam off the case as prosecutor considering her involvement with Dan and all

    :(:(

Scott McGregor is to leave Neighbours.

The actor will finish his role as Detective Mark Brennan on the soap.

McGregor first starred on the show in August during a six-month stint, before graduating to a regular cast role in December.

However, TV Tonight have claimed that contractual negotiations led to the role being written out.

A TEN spokesperson confirmed that he will finish filming in April but will remain on air until August.

Eve Morey has signed a deal with Neighbours to remain on the show for a year.

The actress, who plays Sonya Mitchell, explained that she is pleased to have the opportunity to develop her character on the soap.

She told the Daily Star: "It was wonderful on a lot of levels. It was great to know I'd be working for a year - from a struggling actor's point of view that is fantastic.

"But it also meant there is a year's worth of developing the character because she will become part of the bigger storylines instead of supporting.

"And I also knew the current storyline about Callum would be coming up so there was some meaty stuff to work with."

Morey also insisted that she's enjoyed her time on the show so far.

She added: "I've loved every minute of my time on the show. It's so much fun and I love the people I work with."

As Home and Away's Shane Parrish he played one half of Summer Bay's most beloved couples, opposite breakout star Melissa George as Angel; now, 15 years after leaving the sun-drenched soap and with a turn in hit Aussie series Underbelly to his name, hunk Dieter Brummer is set to stir up the Ramsay Street locals with a guest role on Neighbours.

The 35-year-old Sydney-based star is relocating to Melbourne for a seven-week stint on the show, playing Captain Troy Miller. And, as the former boyfriend of Sonya Mitchell, it's safe to say that not everyone in Erinsborough will be laying down the welcome mat for the sexy soldier, who's guaranteed to see plenty of heavy combat during his time on the Street.

Dieter memorably departed Home and Away in 1996 - his performance as Shane having earned him two Silver Logies for Most Popular Actor - and went on to pursue other interests, also cropping up for guest roles in home-grown shows. In 2009 he joined the cast of Underbelly: A Tale of Two Cities as corrupt cop Trevor Haken, winning critical acclaim and returning for follow-up series Underbelly: The Golden Mile.

It may have been a while since UK viewers last saw Dieter onscreen, but from what Neighbours bosses are saying we reckon his latest gig will be worth the wait. 'We are delighted that Dieter is joining us and very excited about the character he is playing,' says executive producer Susan Bower. 'The Captain will certainly leave his mark on Ramsay Street.'

Callum used live with his grandmother when Steph introduced him to Toadie I think he may have been adopted as I think Steph said his mother was dead. I think when his gran became sick he came to stay with Toadie and he adopted him. Sonya is his birth mother maybe thats why she started hanging with him and Toadie to begin with.
