I have Parasite Eve for the PSX, but it's the NTSC version and I haven't hooked up the NTSC Playstation 2 in quite sometime. I played the first disc I think and it was good, excellent cutscenes. It was based on a book by a Japanese guy which I shamefully haven't finished :/ I don't finish things often enough.

Parasite Eve 1 never got a PAL release.

Never understood why Parasite Eve didn't recieve a PAL release. I played a little bit of it on a modded PSX years ago. Very good game.

Never realised it wasn't released in the PAL territories, I should have a game of it soon.

It didn't get a PAL release becasue at the time all europeans hated RPGs which as evidenced by the run away success squaresoft had with secret of mana

So is Parasite Eve considered rare?

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 53,268 CMod ✭✭✭✭Retr0gamer

Think it's pretty common and not particularly sought after.

A prototype of a PAL release would be...

But the NTSC version, nope, not as far as I know. Just did a search for it on ebay US are there are many many copes. All going for a higher than average price though.

I would imagine it's one of those games that has the price boosted a bit as it's desirable/linked to Square.

Hmmm Dunno, took me a while to track a decent copy for a reasonable price.
Good game, love to see it up on PSN

I remember it came on a cartridge. Instant loading on a c64! Any cartridges for the c64 are pretty rare these days.

I have it as well, gave up a some point when I couldn't open any doors or find any keys. I think you can clear it in an hour.

Have Alone in the dark The new nightmare for the ps1. It's in my 'never been out of the box' pile. Probably never will be either! :(

Yeah, it's good and all but fierce hard at the start, you need to conserve your ammo like a bitch. Never cleared it :/

I had Alone In The Dark for the 3DO, back in the day, and thought it was great, very creepy indeed, you can see where Resident Evil evolved from when you play it.

I can't seem to get into any retrogaming right now, if I do get a moment I end up playing Operation Flashpoint, Professor Layton and Pandoras Box or Gran Turismo PSP.

Totally forgot GT was out on PSP, off to get it now

Careful there, unless you are super sneaky and have Custom Firmware of a certain version, it will insist on updating your firmware and all your lovely emus will cease to work.

Just started playing The Darkness on 360 again. Rather creepy when you play it while sitting in a beanbag with speakers in it beside your ears.

On a retro note: Played some Soul Caliber on DC

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,750 ✭✭✭ghostchant

Was playing Soul Calibur on DC the other day myself, brought back great memories. Got Skies of Arcadia the other day so that's been moved to the top of my to-do list

I really hate that game. It just seems badly made, controls terribly, the AI is laughably bad, shooting out lights is annoying and the story while interesting is basically arse.

Well, since we got into a discussion about Final Fight in another thread I popped out ol' reliable Double Dragon 1 & 2.

    :D Kick ass! :D

Playing Sol-Feace on the Sega Mega CD as of late, decent enough shoot 'em up with a nice score to it.
It will hold me over until I get my hands on Soul Star or Silpheed.

-have double dragon on the neo geo cd console, not a bad brawler its a street fighter clone

-Dreamcast,i forgot how senstive they are to scratches since they use their own custom file system
