    Spice burgers - good.

On the other hand their Onion rings were umm lets say sub-par.

Maybe it's just a Wispa-removal type marketing ploy.

66 members on the Facebook group so far.

Rumour has it that Big Al's might be taking over spice burger production... I'm not sure how to feel about that.

Wouldn't it be odd if spiceburgers were saved thanks to this thread... but were forever more associated with rim jobs?

  • Registered Users Posts: 679 ✭✭✭Steo46

Adrian kennedy is talking about spiceburgers right now.

Eh, you've got a frickin' point!

I hate online protests, petitions et cetera but hell , if Tom can get RTE to come answer questions on Iran then there's gotta be scope to get some burgers goin.

Any ideas how we can get this going ? What about a worker's co-op.
    (I'm serious)

I love spice burgers and have done since the 1980s. Used to get one every week or two from the chipper. Prefer them cooked whole as opposed to halved.

This is a sad day for Ireland.

I find it unacceptable that some people have never heard of, let alone tasted, spice burgers. Not cool.

You know all this talk of Spice burgers has made me hungry:D

But anyway I'm not to pushed about the article, I still have the oul fish and chips to keep me company on a night out.

I think the last time I ate one was in Mosney in the 80's, doesn't get more bleak than that, meh

Ah..Spiceburgers. I remember we used to eat these when i was a poor college student many moons ago cus we could not afford real meat and i remember they were horrible things. Sorry to hear about the loss of those jobs though.:(

Up to a few years back I had been aware of the spice burger but never actually had one. I decided to try one a few years back from a chipper in Rathmines and fuppin' hell it was amazing. Cut in half and with salt and vinegar on each half they are very tastey. All those years I never had one seem somewhat wasted! :pac:

It's terrible the company and jobs have gone to the wall. Hopefully this isn't the end for the spiceburger. They are just too damn tastey.

    I am surprised.

I though it would have the opposite effect in that "fast food" is generally "poor people" food and with more people hard up that it would get more busy.

They can take away our Spice Burgers...but they will never take away our Battered Sausages!

AFAIK the company (Walsh Family Foods) were taken over by a investment company some years ago. Its a sign of the times that a product that sold well (along with others from the range) will no longer be available cos some accountant decided that the margins were too thin. They are not available anywhere else outside of the ROI. The ould spice burger like Jacobs bikkies are gone forever. :(:(:(
