i know i should know better than to post an unfinished piece here but ive spent all day from 9 this morning to 11:30 at night working on this and im questioning what ive done with it.

its a bag of ideas at the moment,i think i might have tried to turn a simple groove into something alot bigger than it can be but then again i think on some level it works(i could be wrong on that one)
anyway its very rough, gonna finish it tomorrow after i figure out what to do with it.

i do love the intro though so i reckon ill be doing a dub version of it.:pac:

Collaboration with York based Producer, DJ and radio presenter Diakon.

Getting lots of interest, and an interesting remix on the way with some vocals.

    Another collab....

this time with Producer ( and rock climber ) Tommy Wilson, under his funk breaks title of Milyoo (he also has his Tasty side project ).

Being half way up a sheer cliff face must give you an odd perspective, because Tommy does some incredibly interesting music, and i was very lucky to get to work with him.

    Hi All

This is the first track I have finished. Would appreciate any comments/ feedback.

    Hi Conor,
Had a quick listen to your track Control. I'm no pro at this malarkey but here's my feedback anyway:

    Overall Vibe/ Groove:
I like it, would definitely get my head nodding. Like the reverby washed out feel with the throbbing bass in the background,

    Sound Design / Selection:
Some nice synth sounds: Nice pluck, nice watery sound that comes in around 2.35., nice whistly sound.

    Arrangement:
Needs more variation - maybe try introducing some random fx swells, here and there to keep things interesting. Also try and humanise your percussion with little fills / licks every few measures.

The pluck synth sound that goes through most of the track should be taken out at some point. Additionally I'd like to have heard some more melodic elements (this is just personal preference) at some point, maybe a dark sounding pad or minor stab hits.

Also you could do with more percussion elements to keep driving the track. I can only hear a kick, clap, hat and ride cymbal. You could add some bongos, toms, claves or something similar to give it a bit more rhythm. It doesn't have to be a full on rhythm even an off beat bongo lick sent to reverb every 4 bars can really help drive the track (for an example of this and check out Joris Voorn - Deep Side of the Moog).

    Mixing:
From what I can hear the mix to be cleaned up: especially around the bass end (I was listening on headphones so take my advice with a pinch of salt). I found it hard to hear the kick with a bass that size. You could try the following and see if they help (I'm not saying they will but it's what i'd try):

    1. Gentle sidechain compression of the bass with the kick. This should bring the level of the bass pattern down when the kick hits. How hard you compress is personal preference and depends on whether you want to actually hear the compression.
    2. Use eq to give the kick and the bass each their own space in the mix. Find where one peaks using an spectrum analyser and then cut the the other instrument at around that frequency. In your case the bass sounds pretty subby, so you may want to cut the kick at around 40HZ and then possibly boost the kick( or cut the bass) a little higher (whatever sounds best though)
    3. Reduce the release time on the bass synth so that it's tail isnt overlapping with the kick.

Overall I thought it was a good first effort and as I said, got my head nodding which is half the battle.

Sean Nash & Ollie Jones-New Track

okay so this is a very rough sketch of my latest one.its a collab between me and a fella called ollie jones.
truth be told i did 99% of this(through no fault of ollies)but hell be doing a big room version using the melody in the breakdown.

mixdown isnt good and it has some mad issues with the volume automating spiking but i figured id throw it up as i dont know when ill get time to finish it off and wouldnt mind some feedback on it as it is

nice sean. music wise/feel wise/groove wise it seems great. i'd sort out a lot of the 'dodgier' sounds on it though.
