Got ths and the bluetooth adapter that allows control of my ipod through the radio. Excellent features. Sound quality is great but there is an audible hissing sound at low volumes. all in all a great bargain.

Yeah that's the one, you should be able to get one in Halfords.

Is that it, great, I wanted to pick one up today but I won't be able to leave work untill 5, I was going to go into Maplins, but by the time I get in there it will be closed.

Do you think Halfords will have it??? I will check the net for a closer store to work and try to make it there today.

    Thanks there for your help

I would wager Halfords will have a few thousand of them.:)

It's a very very common (and inexpensive) part. I got a gold plated one in a car shop for three quid. I don't think you need to be paying more than that, to be honest.

Is anyone else getting hiss at low volumes? Its also more noticeable during talking and on quieter parts of songs. Im trying to determine if it is happening to others. Thanks.

Grand, I'll pick one up in halfords then.

I am getting a hissing but I would put that down to my connection problems, but someone else said that they were on an earlier page. I wouldn't know what the solution would be, but its very annoying.

Yeah me too. There is that hissing noise at low volume. Anyone else getting it?

What car do you have? I put mine into a 03 Passat. I used all the correct adaptors and previously there was no hissing noise.

Had a look at the site, and I'm thinking you're using this which won't be bad, but if your car's aireal is on the back window, generally the reception tends to be utter crap: have used a few of devices (not this one, but others that do the same job).

Im not sure. It may be worth a try and could be a nice cheap fix but if there is a grounding problem or interference from a power supply I would expect the hissing to get louder as I turn up the volume ( I could be wrong here). But when I increase the volume above approximatly 15 the hissing is no longer audible as it is hidden beneath the sound.

For anyone that missed this.. there's an almost identical radio coming up in aldi this Sunday for 79.99.
It pretty much has identical features. bluetooth, SD, USB, CD, REMOTE.. just a different faceplate really.

Not identical or even pretty much. It looks cheap.......real cheap and if will not suit your car if you have a nice dash. And the big difference here is that this tevion HU has a built in mic for the phone bluetooth which is ok, but not ideal. The silvercrest unit had a seperate mic to the HU.

    True.

I hooked up my CD Player last night after buying a connection from halfords. However I now have the buzzing sound that you have, I am going to buy one of these online and see if it helps at all, worth a shot anyway.

Another problem I'm having, which is probably just me being stupid, is last night I set all my preset stations and then this morning when I turned on the engine they were all back to the way they were when I bought it.

Its a good CD Player all the same though.

There are red and yellow cables coming from the back of the stereo. Swap these around(google it if you're worried) and they should stay set.

Let us know how you get on if you get it. In fairness though for €89 it is a fantastic peice of kit and I only really notice the noise when the engine is not running. There is actually a bit in the intructions about swapping the wires around to get it to save the radio stations. Just a simple swap of wires as brophs said.
This morning I managed to swap mine for a new one in Lidl thanks to their no quibble exchange policy :D and will install it later on tonight to see if there is any difference.

Sounds good, I will try that later on when I am putting in my speakers, You would think these things would be easy but sure its all part of getting something on then cheap so its worth it

Let us know Vox how you get on with the new stereo

I got a chance to slip it in there and tried it on another car and unfortunatly it is the exact same. Possibly the only thing to try is the grounding thing mcgowaner found. Strange because the sound quality in general is excellent.

One more thing.. has anyone figured out how to set the handsfree volume? Mine is a tad loud..

built in mic, sounds like a better job to me because of the size of hole i would need to drill into the dash to fit the external mic. I did not fir the mic because i didn't want a large hole in the dash.

Frank, the external mic is designed for the A pillar, not the dash - therefore no hole to be drilled.

My microphone is very low, do you think you could buy another mic that woudl fit it, also I kind of need a longer cable.

Bit clueless here, what's the A pillar?

Missed the lidl stereos last week and haven't had a chance to pop in and see if there's any left in Deansgrange, so I might get an Aldi one on Sunday instead.

The A-pillar is the supporting strut that connects the roof to the bottom part of the windscreen. Its the one that blocks your view when you go to pull out at junctions:)

Cool, thanks Mr Motorsport. (Likewise let me know if you've any questions about Lego, South Dublin or Scouting).

Will it honestly make much difference in call quality if the mic is there or on the faceplate of the stereo? Both seem central enough imo.

I just installed my Lidl car stereo tonight and it seems to work very well. I am getting the buzzing noise at low volumes though and I would be very interested to see if the grounding solution works for others. By the way, I could not get the stereo to read a 4GB Class 6 SD HC card. A 2GB normal SD card was fine. Cheers
