TODAY ... Variable cloud, occasional light rain, but amounts 3-7 mm rather hit or miss, as a band of showers makes further progress northward, followed by a few sunny intervals but also scattered showers in moderate south to southwest winds 40-60 km/hr, highs 14-17 C.
TONIGHT and WEDNESDAY ... Very mild, showers through the night and tomorrow morning, turning to heavy rain by the late afternoon to overnight hours in parts of the south and west. Total rainfalls 10-30 mm by Thursday morning. Lows about 8 C and highs 13-17 C. Winds south to southwest 40-60 km/hr.
THURSDAY ... Some heavy rain likely in Connacht and parts of the inland southeast, local flooding with 20-30 mm possible. More of a showery outcome elsewhere with about 10 mm. Highs near 17 C. Winds southwest 30-50 km/hr.
FRIDAY ... Occasional light rain, turning cooler, highs 13-15 C. Winds light southwest to west becoming northwest by late afternoon, some clearing late in the day for Atlantic coast. Rain will clear east through Friday night, 5-10 mm likely.
SATURDAY ... Fresh and breezy, mostly cloudy with a few showers mainly confined to north by mid-day, lows 7-9 C and highs near 12 C.
SUNDAY and MONDAY will turn warm again with highs possibly reaching 18-20 C in some parts of the inland south. This warm spell may turn wet for a time around Tuesday but warmth will continue into Wednesday and possibly Thursday before a general cooling trend for the second week of April.

TODAY ... Very mild, showers through the morning, turning to heavy rain by afternoon to overnight hours in parts of the south and west. Total rainfalls 10-30 mm by Thursday morning. Highs 13-17 C, but temperatures will tend to vary more with sky cover than region to region (dropping back somewhat in heavier rain). Winds south to southwest 40-60 km/hr.
TONIGHT ... Very mild with some further rain although trending to drizzle and fog away from the west coast where somewhat heavier rain will continue at times, lows 10 to 13 C.
THURSDAY ... Some heavy rain likely in Connacht and parts of the inland southeast, local flooding with 15-25 mm possible. More of a showery outcome elsewhere with about 5 to 10 mm. Highs near 17 C. Winds southwest 30-50 km/hr.
FRIDAY ... Occasional light rain, turning slightly cooler, highs 13-15 C. Winds light southwest to west becoming northwest by late afternoon, some clearing late in the day for Atlantic coast. Rain will become heavier in Leinster by afternoon and evening before clearing east through Friday night, 10-20 mm likely there.
SATURDAY ... Fresh and breezy, mostly cloudy with a few showers mainly confined to north by mid-day, lows 7-9 C and highs near 12 C. The afternoon and evening may become quite settled but mist and fog could drift inland over parts of the west and northwest.
SUNDAY and MONDAY will turn warm again with highs possibly reaching 18-20 C on Sunday, 14-17 C Monday in some parts of the inland south. This warm spell may turn wet for a time around Monday evening or overnight, but warmth will continue on Tuesday with highs 17-20 C and into Wednesday (18-21 C) and possibly Thursday 6th of April (18-21 C) before a general cooling trend for the second week of April.
My local weather on Tuesday was very wet, breaking the daily record set 61 years ago with over 30 mm in the bucket by midnight. The high was about 10 C. Meanwhile, a storm brewing south of Bermuda could have some tropical characteristics but whether it gets an official designation or not, the main point of interest with this is eventual phasing with a weaker low off New England to become a powerful snowstorm for Newfoundland around this coming weekend. Otherwise the weather coast to coast is fairly bland and temperatures have dropped back to near normal values except for a continuing warm spell in the southeast U.S. where highs are running 5-10 degrees above normal (near 27 C in places).0 -

TODAY ... Very mild and humid with scattered showers developing, one or two could become thundery in the central counties by afternoon. There will also be some pleasant sunny spells in some places, highs 15-18 C. Average rainfall by this evening about 5-8 mm, locally heavier though. Moderate south to southwest winds at times 40-60 km/hr.
TONIGHT ... A band of heavier rain will develop and move near and possibly over the southeast coast, also some outbreaks of showery light rain further west, fog developing in valleys, and lows 9-12 C.
FRIDAY ... Outbreaks of heavy and possibly thundery rain are now indicated for Leinster during the day, and it may be partly cloudy or even sunny further west, but with a risk of scattered showers by late afternoon. Highs 12-15 C. Not as windy but a gradual shift from southerlies to westerlies likely.
SATURDAY ... After the rain ends overnight, clearing during the morning and sunny by afternoon in most places, isolated showers continuing near north coast, lows about 5 C and highs about 12 C.
SUNDAY ... Hazy sunshine in south and east, fog or low cloud at times in parts of north and west but also some hazy sunshine at times, warmer. Lows 4-7 C and highs near 18 C except where sea breezes from south to southwest intrude.
MONDAY ... Increasing cloud, chance of showers late in the day, continued rather warm, highs near 17 C.
TUESDAY will see clearing and continued warm temperatures, and WEDNESDAY to FRIDAY are looking very fine at this point, with high pressure overhead, slack winds and warm sunshine likely, could see readings between 15 and 22 C depending on wind directions in slack sea breeze conditions. The warmer readings appear most likely in west Munster and Connacht. Probably frost-free although one or two of the usual spots in Connacht could see local frost, with a large range in temperature expected from early morning to mid-day.
FURTHER OUTLOOK calls for a slow deterioration of the warm spell and eventually much cooler by the second week of April in more of a northwesterly flow with temperatures falling back to around 10 C daytimes and near frost at night.
My local weather on Wednesday was overcast with occasional light rain, some clearing late in the afternoon, and highs near 12 C. The powerful storm I mentioned yesterday is taking shape now south of Nova Scotia and will bring blizzard like conditions to parts of the Atlantic provinces by Friday night and Saturday (northeast winds 100-150 km/hr expected in southeast Newfoundland).
Remnants of that low will be involved in the Monday evening frontal passage but it will be much weaker by then (also the core of this storm will be near Iceland so just a glancing blow for Ireland).0 -

TODAY ... Heavy rain clearing north and east before mid-day, some clearing then a few widely scattered showers developing as somewhat cooler air seeps in from the west, partly cloudy to sunny by afternoon in most places but isolated showers, or light rain under low cloud, near northwest coasts at times, with highs reaching 13-15 C for most, temperatures falling off to near 10 C in the northwest by afternoon.
TONIGHT ... Occasional light rain or drizzle mostly confined to northern and some central counties, cool with lows reaching 3-6 C south and east, 6-9 C west and north.
SATURDAY ... After the rain ends overnight, clearing during the morning and sunny by afternoon in most places, isolated showers continuing near north coast, with highs about 12 C. Moderate west to northwest winds backing to southwest by evening, 30-50 km/hr.
SUNDAY ... Hazy sunshine in south and east, fog or low cloud at times in parts of north and west but also some hazy sunshine at times, warmer after a rather cool early morning. Lows 4-7 C and highs near 18 C except where sea breezes from south to southwest intrude.

By FRIDAY this warm settled spell may at least begin to cool down to more average April temperatures although it could remain sunny and pleasant enough at 14 C.
FURTHER OUTLOOK calls for a slow deterioration of the warm spell and eventually much cooler by the second week of April in more of a northwesterly flow with temperatures falling back to around 10 C daytimes and near frost at night. However, this change may take most of the weekend of 8th-9th to complete. It's a situation where Britain may get into cooler northerlies first as high pressure weakens but remains close to Ireland partially blocking the colder regime for a while; eventually, this will change to a more widespread northerly period with high temperatures falling back to 8-11 C, also frequent showers some becoming wintry on hills. This colder regime looks like it wants to dig in for about a week and may still be ongoing by the Easter weekend although we could hope this will prove too pessimistic closer to the time.

TODAY ... Partly cloudy with some widely scattered showers, becoming more confined to east-central counties by afternoon. Some parts of the south could have a dry day and where it does rain, average amounts only 2-5 mm. A rather cool westerly breeze, sometimes northwesterly, at 40-60 km/hr, but the sun will feel warm especially out of that breeze, with highs 12-15 C.
TONIGHT ... Some clearing, mist and fog patches, rather cold with lows 2-5 C and isolated frost in parts of the central counties and Connacht.
SUNDAY ... Hazy sunshine except for some persistent low cloud near some western coasts, warming up during the mid-day and afternoon to reach highs of 16-18 C.
MONDAY ... Variable cloud, a few showers becoming longer intervals of rain by afternoon and evening, rather windy in the northern counties (SW 50-80 km/hr), breezy further south, morning lows about 8 C and afternoon highs 14 to 18 C with warmest readings inland south.
TUESDAY ... Morning showers and gusty winds will tend to ease quite early on for most, persisting in parts of north Connacht and west Ulster to mid-day. Gradual clearing is likely across the south with some pleasantly warm temperatures developing there. Morning lows will be 5-7 C and afternoon highs will range from about 17 C in the inland south to 13 C in the north.
WEDNESDAY to FRIDAY currently looking settled and rather warm away from any locally cooling sea breezes in a generally light wind field. Some guidance keeps a moderate westerly flow for the north and restricts the light winds to the inland south. Other guidance suggests all of the country under a very slack wind regime which would probably be somewhat warmer for the north as a result. We'll split the difference at this point to suggest highs generally 15-19 C in the south, 11-15 C in some sea breeze zones and 12-16 C north. It could end up near 20 C in a few favoured spots. The east coast should avoid dramatic sea breeze cooling so long as the flow has some westerly influence left, at worst a weak sea breeze might keep things a few degrees cooler within 1-3 kms of the Irish Sea; this pattern favours stronger sea breezes in the north, northwest and parts of the south coast too. Nights during this settled spell could produce local frosts in the inland south or even further north if cloud is not too widespread, but there will be readings closer to 5 C under persistent cloud at night.
The further outlook is definitely colder for parts of the mid-month period but there is currently some hope that the warm, dry interval next week could hold on through the weekend of 8th-9th April before that colder air begins to push south.

TONIGHT ... Cloudy intervals, some fog or mist developing, lows 5-7 C except for some scattered colder and possibly frosty conditions in valleys in the inland southeast.
MONDAY ... Variable cloud, a few showers becoming longer intervals of rain by afternoon and evening, rather windy in the northern counties (SW 50-80 km/hr), breezy further south, afternoon highs 14 to 18 C with warmest readings inland south.

Winds will be generally light and variable although tending to westerly 20-40 km/hr across parts of the north.
FRIDAY may continue about the same but with stronger sea breezes likely on the east coast as the wind gradient becomes slack enough to permit an east wind to develop. So in that case Friday may be warmer in some western counties than the previous two days, and cooler in the east.
WEEKEND OUTLOOK ... Turning colder in stages, largely dry and with some sunshine both days, as winds turn first to northwest then later to northeast. Highs about 14 C Saturday and 9-11 C Sunday. Increasing risk of frost by Monday as considerably colder conditions develop. This cold spell may be broken briefly later in the week then resume for a few days. Too early to speculate on the Easter weekend in this rather uncertain pattern.
My local weather on Saturday was overcast with a few brief brighter intervals, low cloud hanging onto the nearby slopes, and not overly warm at about 10 C. The spring here continues to be very backward compared to most years, and blooming is at a very early stage similar to what we had in late February last year.0 -

TONIGHT ... Rain gradually ending over west, partial clearing by morning, winds veering to westerly 40-60 km/hr. Rain rather intermittent over east will gradually fragment to a few light showers. Lows 5-8 C.

The further outlook has changed a bit for the better with less indication of cooling before about Tuesday of next week now. The warm spell may continue through Sunday with slowly increasing west to northwest breezes and clouds encroaching on the northern third of the country. This will bring temperatures back down to low teens in the north but it may stay 15-18 C in the south until a front and unsettled weather move in around Tuesday. There will be several days of considerably cooler weather in a northerly to northeasterly flow just before Easter; confidence becomes very low on what happens after this colder turn (which in itself is not really nailed down yet).
So in general, I'm thinking it will be a reasonable dry spell for the north and east this coming week, once today's front has moved past, and quite a pleasant warm and dry spell in the south and parts of the west.
My local weather on Sunday was cool but sunny with a lot of cloud banked up against the mountains to the north of us, and the appearance of snow falling above 1200 metres; the high closer to sea level was about 8 or 9 C.0 -

TODAY ... Cloudy with sunny breaks developing mostly in central counties from about Clare to Meath, probably more cloud to both south and north of that zone until afternoon, then some breaks developing in most other counties as well. Temperatures will respond to any sunshine so expect readings around 12-14 C under cloud but 14-17 C where sun breaks through. Winds generally light to moderate westerly except moderate to strong westerly near north coasts where some passing showers are still possible. The southwest may see some "virga" at times this morning as a very weak upper air disturbance drifts overhead; moisture is limited with this feature but rain could try to fall through dry layers closer to the ground, the result is called "virga."
TONIGHT ... Cloudy with some clear intervals mainly inland south and central counties, lows and temperatures in general will respond mainly to clear or cloudy skies more than varying region to region, and there will be local frost under any clear patches (lows 1-4 C) while readings will tend to stay around 5-8 C under cloud.
WEDNESDAY ... Partly cloudy, pleasantly mild for most, highs 14-17 C. There could be some low cloud near some northwestern coastal counties with patchy drizzle but hopefully this will remain offshore. Light winds will allow local sea breezes which will tend to keep temperatures closer to 14, but parts of the inland south and central counties could have enough sunshine to allow warmer readings of at least 17 C.
THURSDAY ... After another partly cloudy night with local frost under clear patches, morning lows 2-5 C for most, the day will be a mixture of cloud and sunshine with local sea breezes cooling coastal locations (12-15 C) but some inland areas warming to the 17-19 C range.
FRIDAY ... Sunny intervals, local sea breeze cooling but generally quite warm especially inland west, morning lows
3-7 C and highs 15-20 C.

THURSDAY ... Rather cloudy away from the south coast to start, then partial clearing to a mixture of cloud and sunshine with local sea breezes cooling coastal locations (12-15 C) but some inland areas warming to the 15-18 C range.
FRIDAY ... Sunny intervals, local sea breeze cooling but generally quite warm especially inland west, morning lows 3-7 C and highs 15-20 C.
SATURDAY ... Increasing cloud west, sunshine at times further east, rather warm, southerly breezes and some coastal sea breezes likely, highs 15 to 18 C.

TODAY ... Stubborn cloud may begin to break in a few parts of the south and west by mid-day, and the only breeze will be some type of sea breeze as the centre of high pressure is now overhead. High temperatures will range from 12 or 13 C under cloud to 15 or 16 C with sunshine.
TONIGHT ... A few more clear patches will perhaps lead to fog and/or frost in some inland valleys with lows 1 to 4 C. Cloud over parts of the north and east will keep lows up around 7 C.
FRIDAY and SATURDAY will both bring more sunshine each day, until at some point skies should be just about perfectly clear. This will increase the temperature range with morning lows falling to about 2 to 6 C in most places, but afternoon highs could reach 17 or 18 C with some local sea breeze cooling to 14 C. If any cloud remains, temperatures will be held down to about 14 C also. But it appears likely that sunshine will begin to dominate by Friday and should be quite widespread on Saturday. Light winds on Friday and southerly breezes 20-40 km/hr on Saturday.
SUNDAY will see variable amounts of cloud from an advancing weak frontal system with 3-7 mm rainfall potential from passing showers. Winds will pick up to westerly 40-60 km/hr with some stronger gusts possible in exposed coastal locations. Morning lows of 10 C and afternoon highs near 14 C.
MONDAY will bring variable high cloud and a few isolated showers, highs near 13 C.
OUTLOOK for next week is for mostly cloudy weather with passing showers on a few occasions, near normal temperatures (highs 13-15 C), then by Easter weekend it still looks rather unsettled and winds could pick up further from west to northwest with temperatures possibly falling off to highs near 10 C. However, guidance is showing a split in opinion on the Easter outlook and there are some suggestions of a more settled outcome with slightly milder temperatures.
My local weather on Wednesday was overcast with some light rain, and highs of about 10 C. Widespread severe storms rumbled through the eastern U.S., to be followed by breezy and cooler weather for a couple of days (at the Masters golf tournament, expect strong wind gusts and highs near 17 C). The weekend will see much improved conditions there (sunshine, highs near 24 C).0 -

TODAY ... Cloud will be rather stubborn in parts of the north and east but sunshine should begin to develop in at least the south and some parts of the west by late morning or early afternoon. Highs will reach about 16 C where the sun breaks through, and will remain in the 11-13 C range under any lingering cloud. Very light wind gradients will allow local sea breezes and even some sea fog to make inroads in a few parts of the east and south coastal districts.
TONIGHT ... Clearing except for some coastal fog, inland fog patches may develop towards morning as well as local frost in valleys. Lows 1-4 C for most in the south and inland central counties, a few places under cloud will remain milder at 7-8 C.
SATURDAY ... Sunny with a few cloudy intervals for some, and sea fog possible near east coast and outer south coast. Warmer for most, highs 14-17 C and perhaps a bit higher well inland. Highs held down to about 11-14 C in some sea breeze zones.

TODAY ... Sunny and warmer for many today, although cloud may hold in a few parts of the northwest and Ulster. There could also be some low cloud or sea fog drifting into a few parts of the south coast. GOOD FRIDAY ... Showers pushing south, colder again, as winds veer back to northwest, morning lows 4-6 C and afternoon highs 10-13 C.
OUTLOOK for EASTER WEEKEND and BEYOND ... Not much change is expected in this rather cool but bland weather pattern, both Saturday and Sunday are looking partly cloudy and rather cool with highs 11-14 C, morning lows both days 2-5 C. Temperatures will continue in that range to mid-week; there is still a chance of considerably colder air arriving during the week, although some guidance is downplaying this slightly, showing the coldest air heading a bit further east into Scotland and northern England instead. This may not be resolved until the weekend.

MONDAY ... Occasional showers, turning slightly colder, temperatures steady in the range of 9 to 11 C.
OUTLOOK ... Rather cold mid-week, with chance of slight frosts inland, highs only around 10 C. There may be more sunshine than in this current spell, however. This cool, dry spell could last for about a week with slight variations, and perhaps a bit warmer at times at least in western counties, but no real change of air mass is indicated, and when it turns cooler in Ireland, it will turn very chilly in Britain and nearby parts of western/central Europe; some parts of the continent could have a few flurries in the mix but it looks likely to remain quite dry in Ireland and western parts of Britain closer to high pressure. Eventually that high rebuilds further west and allows a more variable regime to begin, but nothing overly warm is indicated to near the end of the month, would expect a lot of days with highs in the 10-15 C range for the rest of April.

TONIGHT ... Occasional drizzle or light rain in north, becoming more cloudy in the south but still clear enough near south coast to allow some frost inland south, lows will vary from 4-7 C north, to 1-4 C south (although milder near some coasts).
WEDNESDAY will feature a little more cloud in general with the light rain making some further progress south before fragmenting and dying out during the afternoon and evening. Still a bit of sunshine in the mix for the south. Highs 11-15 C.
THURSDAY and FRIDAY are expected to bring partly cloudy to sunny conditions, some fog or frost possible overnight into the early morning hours, lows -1 to +4 C and highs 11 to 15 C.
WEEKEND OUTLOOK ... Turning slightly colder with winds picking up from the northwest to north, isolated showers but some sunshine also, highs near 11 C.
NEXT WEEK is looking quite cold, some guidance says it will be cold enough for any showers to become wintry at times. This sort of 7-10 day outlook often moderates slightly closer to the time, but a lot of very cold air has been moving south over continental Europe so it would only take a slight westward shift of the upper level pattern to include Ireland in this colder scenario. At any rate, temperatures seem very likely to be at least 2-3 degrees below average next week, and highs could be near or below 10 C. There will also be some frosts on most nights.

THURSDAY to SATURDAY will continue in a similar pattern with some sunshine each day, cloudy intervals, and highs 12 to 15 C, overnight lows continuing rather cold in the 2-5 C range for most.
SUNDAY will turn somewhat colder in the daytime with more cloud and isolated showers, as winds increase and turn northwesterly 40-60 km/hr, lows 3-7 C and highs 10-13 C.
NEXT WEEK is looking very cool for late April, highs may be only 7 to 10 C, and overnight lows could be cold enough for significant frosts especially inland, with lows -2 to +3 C. Some wintry showers may develop in a few places but this cold spell looks mainly dry and there could be some sunshine each day.
The cold will begin to ease around the end of the month and it may then become considerably warmer around the first of May with highs recovering to the 15-18 C range.

TODAY ... Unseasonably cold, some sunny breaks, but rather widespread wintry showers developing, heaviest in Connacht and Ulster, some snow possible although hail, thunder and sleet more likely, and moderate northerly winds 40-60 km/hr. Highs only 5 to 8 C for most.
TONIGHT... Continued very cold with some clear intervals and a widespread sharp frost likely, as wintry showers become more confined to higher parts of the northwest, lows reaching -3 or even -4 in parts of the inland south, southeast and midlands with a sharp frost in sheltered locations. Sunny intervals with some isolated showers, rather wintry on hills in parts of Connacht and possibly around Wicklow, but most places will likely avoid these and have a dry if quite cool day with moderate north to northwest winds at 40 to 60 km/hr, highs 8 to 11 C (warmest near south coast).
TONIGHT ... Some clear intervals with patchy frost in the inland south, mostly cloudy further north, cold with lows between -2 and +4 C (mildest in west and north).
THURSDAY ... Partly cloudy, isolated showers, still rather cool but not as breezy, highs about 10 C.
FRIDAY ... Intervals of cloud and sunshine, some more persistent cloud near Atlantic coasts with rain at times by evening there, morning lows -2 to +3 C and highs about 11 C.
SATURDAY ... Some sunny breaks in north and east, mostly overcast for south and west with rain edging into parts of Munster. Lows 3-6 C and highs 10-13 C. Moderate southeast winds will develop during the day.
SUNDAY ... Periods of rain and misty or foggy on hills, raw east winds in parts of the north and Leinster, veering to westerly across the south with partial clearing by late in the day. Temperatures steady 8-10 C so rather raw for the last day of April.
MONDAY ... Intervals of cloud and sun, a few passing showers and turning warmer in southerly breezes, highs near 15 C.
OUTLOOK ... A few warmer days (perhaps Bank holidays should be mid-week?) and pleasant sunny intervals during the first week of May in a southeast flow off the continent, highs 18-21 C. This spell will perhaps last for a while except for some variations in temperatures as pulses of somewhat cooler air mix into the flow, and east coast likely to suffer from sea breeze cooling, but in general the weather will be considerably warmer than this week.

Severe storms are developing in the Great Lakes region and may bring some tornadic storms to Illinois, Indiana and states between there and the Gulf of Mexico along a cold front that is making very slow progress east (not expected to reach Toronto for example until the weekend).0
