Bought a KTM strada 3500 three weeks ago. Today I upgraded my wheels, putting on a lovely blingtastic set of Mavic Ksyrium SLs. Stuck a set of gator skins on too for the autumn.

Where'd you get the Mavics? I thought the 2013 models weren't coming in til next week, and my local shop told me there's none left in stock. Although it's the Ksyrium Elites I'm waiting for.

You're right. Got the 2012s. 13s will have mostly aesthetic changes I'm told and be pricier. I prefer the bling red too. Think the new ones are due to be white. Bought mine in tribikes in Limerick.

Hmmm ok. The Ksyrium Elites 2012 models were €530, but the 2013 models are €600. AFAIK, not much difference with the rims themselves, but all Mavic wheels will now come with a set of Mavic tyres and tubes - so not too bad a deal.

Tomorrow is payday, but I think my paycheque's already spent. Front light for the winter nights arrived today, Moon 300 X. Aldi today for rainjacket, rain leggings, winter leggings and socks. And now I've just ordered a rear light for the winter, a new chain, and chain cleaner. Add to that the winter jacket and arm and leg warmers I ordered at the club kit night on Tuesday...

At least I remembered I had that spare cassette before I bought a new one!

New shimano freehub body for the good wheels, along with an ultegra chain and cassette and new headset bearings. The LBS was very competitive so went that route. Unfortunately I got chatting about an adult bike for my eldest daughter (she had justifiable bike envy for her younger brother's Islabike) and it looks like she will fit an extra small. Whistles on his way to the poorhouse...

Got an oversize handlebar mount for my ageing GPSmap 76CS, so I can now log my spins, and maybe even give Strava a go. Not exactly elegant, but if it works there's always the upgrade to something newer and lighter.

Snap on the tights! Got a DHB gilet as well.

2nd pair of Roubaix tights from DHB - the previous ones were the "Race" which felt thicker but are in fact the same density as the Vaeon - brilliant kit for the money. Tights and gilet came in handy this morning, loving the gilet in particular. Also picked up a gore baselayer (non-windstopper, but very comfy under merino) and a Smart 1/2 watt rear light from them which is excellent.

Bit the bullet on a Campag winter jersey at CRC as well, which at €60 was a bargain - looks like it's well reviewed so hopefully will be here for my weekend spin.

In the market for a decent pair of waterproof gloves and a 2nd pair of overshoes, but better let the dust settle on the credit card first.....

I'll try these out tomorrow morning, going for my first 100K+ spin.

    Hi Mickey,

They are great, I like them. Only a small bit bulkier than your summer shoes and not much heavier. Warmer for sure, but with very good breathability and with no ventilation holes in soles, so can be used almost all year round here (sadly).
The water resistance is also a lot better than a combination of summer shoes with good overshoes.

    nice, how much it cost?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 504 ✭✭✭Muckers

Not too much left out of 2k unfortunately. Needless to say my online purchases will be quiet for a while. In fairness to the lads in Bike hub, it's the cheapest price I could get either in a shop or online. It is cheaper on Bellatti sport but 23% will be added at customs
