The dog recently licked me in the face to wake me up one day and it scared the crap out of me, another time there was a spider on my leg, bbut I am sure these are tame in comparison to the folks out there experience.....care to share?

Pictures and crudely drawn artists impersonations welcome

    PS, it's been a slow day :o

Yeah I've had the dog thing happen to me before, only she didn't lick me. I opened my eyes and literally less than a centimetre from my nose was hers, and she just STARED at me. It was like she could see into my soul, and let me tell you, if she did, she certainly disapproved.

She did that nearly every single morning and it shook me every time. I never understood it. Was like waking up to a Gremlin.

Thinking someone was breaking in - very scary.

A good few nights/ mornings I have woken up to spiders/ rats/ serial killers/ cats attacking me. It's also known as the DT's - super scary.

waking up inside a horse's sawn-off head that had been placed in my bed overnight. Very wide neck which fitted over my own head.

the smell, the heat, the horror....

a bat crawling across my duvet right on top of me. It was in my grandmothers house at least 15 years ago. They found a nest of them under the floorboards that day.

Same thing happened me, I fell back asleep after a while then felt something land on my face, didn't know what it was, opened my eyes, everything was black! I thought I'd gone blind! Turns out the dog just found a sock under the bed and had dropped it on my face, probably wanted me to play.

I've woken up loads of times with my dog stairing me in the face.
The worst though was one morning she actually crawled onto my face and i woke up not being able to breath thinking i was blind. Once i realised what was going on i just moved her and laughed.

    A ginger

I stepped over her and headed for the shower hazily recollecting the night before and wondering how I would get rid of her. Thankfully I heard the front door closing shortly after.

    Forgot one.

Woke up in the middle of the night to a storm. A proper midsummer Canadian one, not some dinky little Irish storm. Thunder loud enough to deafen you and make your stomach turn upside down and lightning making the world visible for miles. I had an old tree outside my window that my mother was convinced would get hit by lightning and come crashing down on me in my sleep.

Its branches cast shadows on the ceiling, like old, gnarled hands and demon faces on the walls. Without the lightning there was complete pitch black darkness. No moon, no stars. I couldn't see my own hand in front of my face. I got up and stumbled my way to the light switch, only to find the power was out. I went for the door, but for some reason it was stuck, something was holding it from the outside.

So, like any normal 18 year old (at the time) I went back to bed and hid under the covers, as you do.

    Then I heard it.

I had this old wooden bedframe, the headboard was massive and about three feet high of solid wood. It was faint at first, but I could hear nails slowly, slowly scratching their way down the headboard. They came down to what would be about an inch above my head and I sprang out of bed, my heart pounding in my chest, about to burst.

I tried the door again. It was still being held closed from the outside. I couldn't force it open. I was freaking out. I heard it again. Nails, hard, against the headboard. I waited with my hands covering my eyes, fingers parted-- looking but not wanting to, as you do-- for the next lightning strike to reveal the nemesis I was now trapped in the room with.

I hadn't long to wait. A strike of lightning went off, and I was faced with two sets of pitch-black, vacuous, soulless, evil eyes...
..of two fúcking house mice who decided my bed would make a nice warm place to rest.

I tried to open the door again, and this time it swung open with ease, and I was faced with a hulking black shape, emitting a low, menacing sound from the depths of its very soul, its eyes flashing red in the lightning. I nearly jumped out of my skin, sure I was now face to face with my reaper and bound for the deep, dark recessions of hell..
...before I realized it was my 100lb black German Shepherd angry at being disturbed from her very comfortable rest against my bedroom door which I previously couldn't open.

I didn't sleep at all that night. :(

yeah what is that???? It feels like an invisible person is holding you down or something, thats happened to me too.....freaky!!!

For a while I thought the house I was in at the time was haunted.
Then I slowly realised it coincided with me trying to drink my own body weight for the previous three nights.
So now I have found a way to solve that little problem if I have had a session.
On the Monday night I go for a long walk, when I get home I have a really hot bath, then I drink two or three glasses of wine really fast & off I go to the land of nod.

Someone on boards posted this years ago, thought it was great

Woke up once and was convinced someone was breaking in, could actually hear voices down stairs, a different time I could see a face in the bedroom freaked me out.

One of the scariest thing was work up from a nitemare and was actually fighting something in the bed, freaked the **** out of me I was kicking, punching and shouting even though I'm not at all aggressive.

The scariest, was one night my daughter came into the room and tried to wake me (prob wanted to get in the bed she was only about five at the time), I woke up and saw this girl with ling hair partly covering her face, all I could think was $hit thats the girl from the ring, I instinctively swung my foot out, hoping to kick her in the face, luckily I realised what I was doing before sending my daughters head smashing into the wall.

I fell asleep in the cinema the other night when Angels and Demons was on. The missus woke me up and I got the fright of my life because I thought it was still on.

Woke up one morning after crashing in a mates house, unfortunately I had had, ahem, a few drinks the night before and was certain the next morning I'd crashed elsewhere...to see that I was sharing a bed with another man was a little scary alright. Felt a bit better when I realised I was actually sleeping head to toe and that I had made some miscalculations in my hungover state. That and of course the fact that it was indeed my mate in the bed and he's just not that into me! :D

as said sleep paralysis. when you go asleep your brain kinda paralyses your body.

for some reason or another when you wakeup there is a delay before the brain un paralyses your body.

When i was younger i used to get up in the middle of the night, grab my duvet and sleep on the floor in my parents room. One night i got up, grabbed the duvet, opened the door too quickly, hit the hoover that was kept behind the door always plugged in, set it off and woke up standing in a puddle.

Scariest thing I've ever woken up to was a wall. I woke up facing the wall and for a split second I didn't know what the hell was going on, then I turned around, and all was well.
