Nope, theyre pretty unbelievable numbers alright

It was great watching so many top lifters at one comp - the heavies and middleweights both came down to the final deadlift, which doesn't happen too often.

Ouch dude! I've had Planter FAA-SHEE-ITE-US since Friday, hoping to run again on Wednesday. I wore runners that wore too small three days in a row. GRRR!

Never had planter fascitis. If its at all niggly do not run through it - you will end up like me. Out for WEEKS. GRRRRR

****ing body. Doing eccentric exercises for it out of my ears.

Thinking of selling my weights and joining a gym. Anyone know what kind of money would I get for my set?

    2*20kg (Irish lifting tri grip)
    2*10kg
    4*5kg
    4*2.5kg
    4*1.25kg
    4*0.5kg
    2*dumbells
    barbell

This is all 1" equipment, couldn't afford the olly set :(

Keep it, you might want it again in a couple of years. By then it'l cost way more to replace. I'm using mine as counter-weight for assisted pull-ups at the mo.

That was my first thought, but its going to be hard for me to get money for gym membership any time soon. Also since its a 1" bar it will only take up to 120kg on it, won't be too long before I'm squatting and dead lifting more than that so if I'm setting up some sort of home gym in the future I'd have to move onto an olly bar anyway.

Check these places out, there's other gyms also doing pay-as-you-go around the city/country.

The ones near me for example do a lunchtime special for €5 (ish). You'll get most of your lifts (squat & bench) overwith on one day. Back and shoulders on the next. Cardio could be done at home. It's a start.

    Physically? or rated to 120kg?

I have had 111kg on a HOLLOW argos ezcurl bar which is rated to 60kg, it did start to bend the day I put 140kg on it. A solid bar can take a hell of a lot more than the ratings, they are taking into account severe abuse, people throwing down bars, and bars being dumped down onto pins etc. I have had ~150kg on my solid bar and I think there was barely a bend on it.

This is an interesting article I saw on another forum about olympic bars breaking http://www.ivankobarbell.com/PDF/How%20to%20break%20An%20Olympic%20Bar.pdf

It might not, Mickk was talking about the price of steel being due to come down a while back, he is still €2/kg and I got mine for €1/kg when he started up the shop. I know steel prices dropped a bit in the last year for stuff we get in work.
