Does anybody know a place where one cant get toric lenses (lenses which correct astigmatism) cheaply? I've tried Daysoft, whose prices seem very competitive, but there website says: "All daysoft lenses are daily disposable lenses. Wear for a day and throw away. Please note that none of the lens brands below, including daysoft, correct 'astigmatism' which requires specially made 'toric' lenses."

The last set I bought toric lenses in Specsavers it cost @ €55 for a single month. That's not sustainable for me. On that point, if I just got the ordinary lenses from Daysoft what would I lose? (what, in other words, do the toric lenses do in layman's terms that make them so expensive?)

I wear purevision torics, which you can leave in for a month. Last purchase from getlenses.ie as with everyone else :p

    These ones: http://www.getlenses.ie/purevision-toric.html
Works out at e46 for 3 month supply. Use the discount too of course.

No way should you buy your lenses from specsavers, so expensive. Just use them for eye tests.

In answer to your other question: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toric_lens

+1 to all the Daysoft recommendations. I'm a happy customer for many years with no issues with my eyes.
Every optician you ask will find fault with buying online. What else can they say when they are charging you so much more.??

I would recommend Biofinity as well I have been wearing them for years without any issues. Always order though visiondirect.com they have a 25% discount on first orders using code 25NEW. Works out at €85 for 12 months supply of monthly lenses delivered.

I wear acuvue advance for astigmatism and they come in at 96 euro for three months. They are two weekly disposables though, so you need to factor in cleaning solution too.

ps toric lenses are more expensive as they correct astigmatism with one prescription across and another one down, afaik.

    Hi Lads.

My daughter wants to try out Contacts .

Her eye test results are ,
    R / -4.25 ,
    L / -3.25, cyl 0.50, axis 15 .

I have looked at Getlenses and was wondering if these are the same Biofinity lenses mentioned above http://www.visiondirect.ie/biofinity-toric .

I note when using the drop down boxes for selection that the Cylinder and axis sizes are not the same ratings as my daughters eyes ( Cyl lowest number is 0.75 and the axis number is either 10 or 20 ...no 15...

    Any advice lads ?.

    Thanks.

Get her fitted by an optician and then go on line and do your buying !

Yeah, you don't "just try" contacts, you have be be fitted for them by an optician first and get a prescription. They need to measure your eyes.

visiondirect.ie is the old getlenses.ie, which had the same referral system and code. My code is:

    1616242B

You get 10% off by using it.

I have ordered from them (both visiondirect.ie and getlenses.ie) several times and all is perfect, no issues at all.

Gettig fitted for dailies in a few days. Am I better to get these online?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 12,468 ✭✭✭✭OldNotWIse

Wow, looking at those toric lenses that can be worn for 30 days continously - seems like madness :(

Are they better quality than dailies though? They seem to have received good reviews. After 17 years in two weekly disposables, I am switching to dailies (to only wear once or twice a weeK) because my eyes are showing signs of wear.

I saw this site advertised on pigsback.com the other day, if you're a member there's a clickthrough for piggypoints. They seem to offer a large range of contact lenses.

    www.lenson.com

(no connection to pigsback or lenson)

    Has anyone tried lenson.com? Their prices for solutions seem very competitive;

They're charging €45 for 30 Acuvue for Astigmatism dailies. I got my dailies with Vision Direct and it was €29 for a box of 30.

It's solutions I'm looking for atm, not lenses. Their price is good, so I just need to know if they are reputable - any experiences?

Well hopefully my post will be of benefit to other people on here who are buying lenses :)

So I've been using daysoft daily disposable lenses for the last 3 years without issue. Was about to order another 1 month supply of daysoft silk but the price seems to be have gone up a fair bit. 1 month supply is €14.98 now (including delivery).€29.96 for a two months supply..

I know that's a lot cheaper than most opticians charge but does anyone know an even cheaper option for similar lenses? I got an eye test a few months ago and my eyes haven't gotten any worse so lense power would be the same.

I currently pay Vision Direct €60 for 60 disposable lenses, I've astigmatism so they're specially made.

Is there anywhere that do these cheaper? €1 per lense is a rip off.

I pay 60 euro for 30 pairs, but I thought that was reasonable as they are the acuvue moist for astigmatism.

    Same as that.

My cousin in the US pays $25 for 30 pairs. Like us, he has astigmatism. We're been ripped off over here.

I'm the same as you, they were great for so long and never had any problems with the regular or silk lenses. I think it was a VAT issue were they had to up the prices.

Ordering from Vision Direct today. 10% discount ends today. But want to find out about Aura ADM dailies. Never heard of them and they are only 9.98 per packet.

Where does the cousin get the contacts, as I'm going to the US for a few weeks and I may pick some up while I'm there? I bought contacts in the US about 10 years ago and they were significantly cheaper than what we paid here at the time, but I've recently looked at a few US places on-line and I was surprised, now their prices seem to be more expensive than the Irish prices, but maybe I'm not looking in the right places.
