It was on the radio this morning, it seems RTE are axing the Seoige show, what'll the two of them do now? :)

Bloodbath! Or so said the Star (I think it was), slightly surprised RTE managed to screw up a cheap mid afternoon slot during recession

They can put on dark green velvet dresses and show people around Bunratty Castle - maybe the tourists would appreciate their smug smiles :D

Interestingly, RTE said they'd be working on some prime-time projects with Grainne in the Autumn, and that they were 'sure they'd also be working with Sile again in the near future' ;)

It's probably not a big surprise - what with the 60 odd million they need to save. Half of that is probably saved on the daily hair and make-up bill.

Wonder if they have plans for the afternoon show - sheena ain't presenting it now, and blathnaid has her bullying scandal. What'll happen there?

I wonder if RTE have some sort of overall plan for the stations - ala with Kenny going, X person will move here, Y person there, etc. But then again, that's probably giving them far too much credit for forward planning.

It's going to be Diagnosis Murder, Murder She Wrote and The Father Dowling Mysteries from now on

Good riddance, neither contributed anything worthwhile.

Seoige put on far too much weight to even warrant watching the show with the sound off.

You think putting Lorraine Keane in the Seoige slot (ooooh matron) will change this? ;)

Isn't the Afternoon Show rumoured for the chop too, what with all the rumours going around about behind the scenes?

Hopefully this will be replaced with some quality daytime TV - I suggest an Irish version of The People's Court, it would be amazing!

It would require a change in the law first I think.

My mother will be gutted, but if this brings Murder She Wrote back to my screen then I don't care. I do think Jake and the Fat Man deserves another airing along with Barnaby Jones.

Say it ain't so, I like Prime Time now and then but I'd stop watching it once and for all if they put her on it or her sister

I think Grainne would be very suitable for Prime Time, I don't know why RTÉ keep putting current affairs presenters into Light Entertainment.

Imagine RTE News on Two with the Seoige Sisters, that grump old fart on TV3 wouldn't stand a chance :)

This is going into an afterhours retro discussion! I always thought Remington Steele was a skit on all of the other 80s privated detective shows like Hart to Hart and Murder She Wrote. It was very funny, one of the best comedies from the US, totally underrated IMO. (In saying that I haven't seen it in 10 years so I could have a different opionion if I saw it now).

Repeats of Live @ Three anyone or 12 TO 1.

It always struck me as exceptionally dumb to have two live afternoon shows back to back that were basically clones of each other with different presenters.

It was just stroking the egos of the Seoige sisters to give them there own dedicated show with their name on it, as if they couldn't mingle with the other afternoon show presenters.

I think it was more, all we need to do is to delete and oshea and we get seoige.

The two shows are far too alike, I think keeping the Big Bite would have been a better option but it didn't really suit daytime TV.

The used to have Live @ 3 and 12 to 1 running at the same time.

Thats a shame, as far as afternoon shows go, I think the Seoige one was far better than the nauseous Afternoon show. I can't stand sarkey Blathnaid and all the rest of the paff on the show. Ah well I never watched either show really but I do think the better one is getting the chop.

I always taught it was such a naked display of the nepotism so rife in rte (and Irish journalism generally). After an exausting search the length and breath of the country they decided to appoint the stars sister. Was there really no-one else suitable!!

What's this bullying scandal? Sheana has been off with vertigo for the past few weeks. Don't mock, folks. It can be very very serious indeed if you're suddenly took queer over a lit cooker during a live cookery segment. Or nutted by a vicious redhead.

Seriously, I'm fascinated by Sile Seoige's eyebrows. They don't match and look as if they are stapled on. Anyone think the same, or should I see a therapist?

Cant say I've every noticed her eyebrows - maybe give the old therapist a shout just to be safe, like?

Also don't think it's much of a loss

I dont know what all the fuss about cloning humans is about. Grainne looks like an attempt at cloning humans from robots to me.

Seoige and the Afternoon Show are simply different shades of beige. Even when the economy was good there was never any justification for having both shows. RTE needs to leave the specialisation in fluff to the hacks in Ballymount

i can't believe the amount of disappointment that seoige's been axed!
it made my night when i saw it on the news! the two f them are the most patronising people on the tv, am so glad we don;t have to look at their face anymore. stick them back on tg4 where noone will see them, that's my opinion.

I think there is a certain amount of sarcasism on this thread.

I could be wrong. I know I am looking forward to Lorraine Keane taking over.*

    GOOD!
    Its rubbish!
Its a waste of the older sister who at one stage was quite good but seems to have gotten caught up in the "im famous" Irish z list rubbish

Hopefully its a sign that the muppetery programming decisions of the past
are a thing of the past

OOH he was on big brother give him a show

ooh she has a sister give them a show

ooh she was on podge and rodge and they are funny on their comedy chat show SO she must be funny too, give her a comedy chat show thing

oooh aaahhh that was on BBC could we make a cheap version with some nomark outta the glamour mags?
    etc!
