Dow Jones just went above 20000 for the first time ever. Will it hit 30000 under the trump presidency?
As for BOI, it looks seriously undervalued compared to all other Banks in the sector. The banking sector itself looks like the most undervalued sector out there at the moment.
Expect BOI to hit 30p soon, and go a lot higher
That's what we like to hear!!

I just sold, that's the confidence I have in them to go higher.... I'll buy again possibly when they drop down to 0.22 or 0.23 in the next few days or week.

Ha, well they are definitely sold. When they drop like they have been doing for the last couple of months I'll buy again. They have been fairly cyclical recently o.22 or 0.23 and then back to 0.25 ish 0.26 on this occasion. It's been working well for me recently.

Yes but the book value from the Balance sheet is excessively harsh, the reality of its loan book is far far better than what is been stated. Plus the amount of bad loans now is below 7 bn.
New lending of €6.9bn, up 14% on H1
2015 Growth in core loan books of €1.1bn.

what are you thining of a possible share price by end of this year december 2017?

bank of ireland is below where it was three and a half years ago , it was shorted to an inch of its life post brexit , the property market is incredibly strong right now so this will help its loan book

banks are the most difficult of sectors to analyse however , very few in europe are above book value and banks in ireland are unique in that they cant foreclose on mortgage defaulters like in every other country

Cantor Fitz reckons a target price of 27.2

There is a detailed analysis here:

In February 2007 it reached 18.2 billion at 18.80 a share.
So around 60 cent a share brings it back to its 2007 price level.
However the share price is to be restructured which should lead to a reduction in market volatility.
Multiply whatever your holding is in Euro by 2.4 and that should give you the 2007 market capitalisation or close to it.

Why compare to 2007? It is not the same bank having sold off BIAM, ICS, a lot of its loan book etc

While I agree, there's a lot of people out there that think there 10,000 shares in bank of Ireland that they bought at 9-15 cent a share will one day make them millions, not realising the amount of share price dilutions.
Dare I say, some will have woken up this morning thinking they've just one the lotto, only to realise that they have 30 times less shares.

The reason why I compared to 2007 was to give an insight as to where it's value could go, given where it was at its boomiest. Personally it'll be long and many a day before it reaches that level

If I had 6 shares in BOI last week do I have one share in new BOI this week - https://www.rte.ie/news/business/2017/0710/889021-bank-of-ireland-shares/ - or did I have to opt in for that?
The share price of BOI (http://www.rte.ie/aertel//desktopxhtml/142-1.html) is at 0.25 but this article - https://www.irishtimes.com/business/financial-services/bank-of-ireland-s-new-share-price-set-at-7-38-1.3146999 - would suggest the new price is going to be 7.35. How are these related?
Clearly, I'm confused. Any light on this would be appreciated.

30x0.25 is just over 7 euro. It's a guide price so the market cap stays the same. The actual share price is whatever people are willing to pay

    Ok
It does seem to be the Case that 6 shares have now become 1 anyway.

They are performing a share consolidation. Meaning for every 30 shares you own it will be converted into 1 new share priced at around 7.35

    Current Price * 30 = New price (roughly 7.35)

If you have less than 30 shares or have a number of shares not dividable by 30 then you will receive cash for the remainder.

Thanks, I see the 30 now in the article. I'm not sure where I got 6, I thought it read 6 but clearly not.

I had a small amount of shares but increased this to 1500 recently in anticipation of this consolidation. Degiro have carried this conversation out without a problem. I now have 50 @ 7.38.

Got 2 letters today about the shares.

Both were to the value of 1000, bought at 30c and 10c roughly.

No of shares, 111. Example of share price 7.2490. Est value of shares, 804.64

No of shares, 355. Est value of shares, 2573.40
