not necessarily, cydia used to save SHSH blobs for newer firmwares so if you saved them for say 4.1 and went to 5.1 you would more than likely have them for everything in between

use redsn0w to jailbreak it and install the ipad baseband and then unlock with ultrasn0w from cydia

jailbreak done via redsnow like you advised and the ipad base band and cydia installed all good, but when i try and use cydia i get
network error
unable to load the certificate for this server is invalid you might be connecting to a server that is pretending to be cydia.saurik.com which could put your confidential information at risk

i tried doing a second jailbreak to re install cydia but no joy ???
help please

Restored it and it's now iOS 5.1.1.

1. Backup your iphone from iTunes.

2. Download Absinthe and run it.

3. Follow the instructions and you have untethered jailbreak.

Also as a reminder, when complete make sure to backup your SHSH Blobs using TinyUmbrella. This will allow you to downgrade to 5.1.1 for any such reason in the future.

You can't downgrade using tinyumbrella on ios 5 anymore because you need an APTicket aswell as shsh blobs.

That iPhone 4 can't be unlocked now unless you use a gevey sim or get the network to unlock it

No there's no way to unlock it. You can't hacktivate it on ios 5 either

Are you trying to download a premium theme? Not everything in cydia is free

nope,its literally everything!..even cydia says packages need updating,and when i click to update them,it gets an error code saying that they need to be paid!..i cant download anything!

I have a iPhone 4 with no SIM cards.
I don't know the GB size or what network it's locked to.

How can I find that info?

settings/General/About

scroll down you should see Carrier o2 or what ever iphone is locked to.

If a version number after O2 10.0 example is displayed

The Iphone is Unlocked to any network.

It won't say anything in carrier if no sim is installed and it will still say meteor for example if a meteor sim is installedif it's locked to O2. The number after carrier is only the IPCC version and I don't think it has anything to do with if the phone is unlocked or not

Theres no SIM, so I can't do anything.
It just keeps asking me to activate and insert SIM.

Whats the name of thr cydia app that remembers your sources and installed tweaks ETC?

Im on 5.0 but want to get the new podcasts app which requires at least iOS 5.1, before i update the ios over the weekend & rejailbreak id like the same tweaks & themes etc to be saved.

There is an app for that, isnt there?
