If you wait until its next birthday :)

Always liked the 504 myself, my grandfather had a few of them. Or the 604, the only car that depreciated over 90% of its value in just 4 years back in the 80s

I remember some of the government ministers had them.

604's were popular with anyone who had some other a**hole to foot the depreciation bill. :pac::pac: i.e. Taxpayers.

Here the seller's 'legal terms'

    HAVE A NICE DAY :D
I do agree it's a bit ugly but it's such an interesting shape and such a big, rare beast I'd love one to float around in. Would be less of a brick in a better colour.

    It'd be the first thing I'd undo anyway;

    Ode To The Motorist

“And my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, generates funds to the exchequer. You don't want to acknowledge that as truth because, deep down in places you don't talk about at the Green Party, you want me on that road, you need me on that road. We use words like freedom, enjoyment, sport and community. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent instilling those values in our families and loved ones. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the tax revenue and the very freedom to spend it that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise I suggest you pick up a bus pass and get the ********* ********* off the road”

Ah come on. :P In fairness I've never seen a car trailer with those hamburger lamps on them (they're a massive 140mm diameter). However I've seen plenty of commercial trailers with them, so I'll describe them as "Hella Hamburgers" :pac::pac::pac:, not because Hella alone make them, but it just rolls off the tongue better!

He could of saved a few bob extra using proper car trailer tail lamps for a fiver...
    RCT450.jpg

Or he could have gone retro and got some Rubbolite 38s, aka tit 'n' pie lamps.

    Agree though, it's an abortion.

    Most Pugs are ugly -
Wrinkly and spade-faced, Pugs are some of the most comical canines on offer. But their absurd attributes make them prone to health issues. Those bulging eyes? They have a tendency to pop out after an enthusiastic neck squeeze. Those squished faces? A recipe for respiratory disaster.

Are those the reverse lights beside the plate?

I'm a big fan of modernising and improving vehicles, this is neither.

surely something could be created with LEDs that would improve the look of the car.

Like the Chinese give a f**k what anyone thinks. Terms like 'intellectual property' and 'copyright' are not in the Chinese language!

So we can have SOME 'personalised plates' after all ;) MIN 1 comes to mind also .

Re the Chinese, they produce some BMW (X5?) clone where you buy a (Dongfeng) and as they put the plates on it, good ol' Wang Li next door is fitting an 'aftermarket' BMW grille and badges to it. Been going on for years with m/cycles bearing 'HONGDA' or 'KWASAKI' badging. In some ways who's to say they're wrong when you consider the 'new' Mini / Beetle etc cashing in on nostalgia by whacking up the profit margin compared with a Golf on which it based. The original Mini / Beetle were cheap and cheerful basic cars.

That Cherrywood meet up will be on next Sunday I'd say, nice just to have a quick get together without any Joe Public and their brats around pawing the motors

    One for sale http://cars.donedeal.ie/vintagecars-for-sale/for-sale-limited-edition-tickford-ford-orion-1989/8213714

    Never came across these before

    http://www.aronline.co.uk/blogs/cars/ford/escort/tickfords-ford-orion-1600e/
In 1989, the Escort and Orion were coming to the end of their production run, and Ford wanted to send them off in style, as well as introduce a new halo model. Taking its inspiration from the Cortina Mk2 16ooE, and intended to sit in the range above the 1.6i Ghia, Ford turned to Tickford to build a limited run of specials.

The Ford Orion 1600E started out as a 1.6i Ghia built at Halewood, and from there they were shipped in batches to the Tickford site in Bedworth for their interior transformation. The Orion was originally available in only two colours Raven, a blue-black metallic and Mercury Grey. Later a small number became available in Diamond White.

Every car was trimmed in soft Shadow Grey leather, and came with front sports seats specially developed for the model from those fitted to the Escort XR3i. The standard Granada Scorpio steering wheel was treated to a leather rim, and the gear lever knob and gaiter were also leather.

A fillet of American Cherry wood veneer was placed on the fascia ahead of the front passenger seat, and matching wood veneer cappings were placed on each door trim panel to complete the ‘mini limousine’ effect. The original build schedule was for 1500 cars being built between October 1988 and July 1989, but this was not quite reached.

Between October 1988 and February 1989 the first 1000 were produced, but a number of these had to be recalled to rectify a paint problem caused by fall-out from a nearby factory, which in turn led to a hiatus in production. The remaining 498 cars were built in June and July 1989.

Nobody knows at present how many of these cars have survived. As with any limited run car, the prices demanded for the Orion 1600E will always tend to exceed those of the 1.6i Ghia, due mainly to their rarity value.

    But it's an '83
Put it on ZV plates and most all AGS members wouldnt know it's not NCT exempt. ;)

PULSE does know. All it takes is one Garda to enter the license plate and you're looking at a confiscated car, a €1,500 fine and penalty points. No thanks.

These fellas are set for a price rise. €11k (ish) seems a good price. Such a cool car.

I always liked the Plus 2's. Lovely shape. That one looks particularly well sorted and the colour looks just right.
On a separate note, looking at it there on the old F plate, I somehow cannot picture it looking as good on multi digit ZV :(

True, but I've done approx 10k in the past 12 months in various cars that didnt have nct/doe without detection. Driving right past AGS TC and all.

I think until there is adequate policing especially outside of dublin, the rules will continue to be nigh on meaningless.
