    STILL the VRT hurdle

(I wonder if Revenue's OMSP standard applys to their House tax estimate as well - They're wildly optimistic with the OMSP - €2k for a 93 Panda :P:P so why should anyone believe their house valuations either :mad: )

    or classic bargain http://cars.donedeal.ie/for-sale/vintagecars/4822147
I know where I'd be spending my cash, I honestly don't understand how people can see a pile of rusty crap and put huge valuations on them just because they are old.

That's it in a nutshell  Mind you I might chance one of these as it's bigger , both red, both in Donegal - they must love R18's up there :p:p

I seen that and assumed it was the same car with a price reduction! what are the chances? I think the dashboard in the dearer one is worth the extra 250.

€2k is the minimum OMSP for any car <30 years old. For a Panda, you could certainly challenge the VRT rate of 36% by using the fuel consumption to determine the actual CO2 figure.

I agree that the €2k minimum OMSP is a crock designed to deter importation of older cars though.

    Not your ornery onager

Maybe one of our 'cash strapped' ( except for councillors expenses ! ) councils would be interested in this for their fire chief

The seller's using auctioneer type wording but like a purple house for sale maybe IF YOU CHANGE THE COLOR back to it's original the yoke might sell :cool:

That LS gets a lot if stick but I honestly really like it.
I'd even consider buying it if I can secure a new job.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,358 ✭✭✭kev1.3s

I don't see much wrong with it either, if I were in the market for a ls I'd go and view it anyway.

Cheaper if you just spray the lower half for a more authentic two tone anyway.
    I wouldn't bother though.

I wouldn't either there's plenty of them in various shades of dullness, at least that one stands out from the crowd.

I knew it before it was red and had silly wheels! It was a bucket then!

Yeah, not into the wheels on it.
Could have had the electrical issues sorted during its restoration, still worth a look if someone can bring an electrical mechanic with them.

    Restoration ???

    Electrical mechanic ???

That car was tarted up and needed new modules when I last saw it!

Well that's not why you said, you said it was a bucket so I presumed the paint job was part of of a restoration.

And Auto Electrician is what I meant, long day.

No, it's logbooked as a Lexus and the number is quite low in the year so not an import.

Just the shape of the number plates throwing you off I think.

Still a bit dear for the banger racers I'd imagine, but probably it's best use at this stage!

......beautiful cars, I had a '68 myself. If they are restored properly, and this one is, then its an investment. They are possibly one of the most difficult Mercs to restore properly.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,499 ✭✭✭Capri

Not sure if it was Eamonn Andrew's W109 , I seem to remember him in a pale blue one and a dark metallic green one - can't be clear on the reg's tho'

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,358 ✭✭✭kev1.3s

And that is one of the reasons for the prices of these cars ;).
