    I'm not sure. Perhaps they wern't experiencing their own past lives but just past lives of others, similar to the way the cylons project their own imagined environment onto what's actually happening. Maybe they're recieving visions similar to Roslin. We know that Saul sees 6 as Ellen sometimes so I'm not 100% sure we should trust the flashbacks.

    Then again like I said maybe having different actors portraying younger or older versions of Saul, Tyrol and Ellen was too confusing and the same actors were used to make it simple. It just seemed odd...
