I ask because I was talking to a priest the last day, and he didn't seem unduly concerned about the recession. When I asked him why he felt that way, he said "wolves at the gate bring the lambs to the shepherd".
Makes sense to me. Why should he be unduly concerned?

wolves (worry about money, job, life in general) at the gate (of the mind) bring the lambs (people) to the shepherd (the Church/God; it's ambiguous)

But have you ever heard a priest actually talk like that?

The metaphor has a somewhat Biblical sound to it.
