Just got my IST pass letter few days ago!

I know I'm getting ahead of myself but....

I'm getting kinda concerned in the back of my mind about the Push Pull...

Im about 5ft8/5ft9 and quite small framed at 10 stone.

I've been hitting the gym this past year,

So I would like to think I'd be able to pass it, Im able to chest press two 24kg d'bells and deadlift around 90kgs...

Anyone able to give me any indication from that how much more work I've got to do!!!

    Cheers Folks!

A rowing machine will work both muscle and cardio, so should help you out also.

    Nail. Hit. Head.

If everything runs smoothly for you, and you ace the AC, it's still the guts of a year before you'd be doing that test. Plenty of time to bulk up and improve fitness. Being enthusiastic is good obviously, but don't be losing any sleep about it mate.

Dont hold me to it but I'd imagine you'll be fine. Its only the small light ones struggle with the push pull. Now I'm not saying you're a fat giant :D but it would tend to be people smaller than yourself that will struggle.

And for those smaller and reading this and now panicking - dont. I only said struggle, not fail. Its mostly technique but obviously the taller and heavier you are the better. If you're wee then try to build up your bulk and muscle because its that bulk that is going to help.

But as has been said - you're miles off from that. Once you get into Garnerville you'll have a go on the push pull early on and if there are any problems the PE staff will help you out with a plan to get you on track.

Considering you have only just got your IST results in then I'd say Double Oh Seven isnt too far wrong in saying you could have the guts of a year to wait. Infact, with vetting to go through you could be waiting longer!!

Do you not have to do a fitness test before that though if they decide at your medical it's necessary due to your bmi? I know I'm also getting ahead of myself here but it's just I'm quite short and have a bit of extra weight so bmi worries me slighty, I had been going to the gym to try and shift it but lost motivation for a while...but now it's back! I'm quite strong for a woman anyways, but being short again would concern me for the push/pull, and I don't exactly want to add any extra weight with muscle for my bmi... hmm conundrum! :D

Sorry, I never took into account those that would have possibly have to do one for the medical. I suppose just cross that bridge when you come to it. There are plenty of small people who have passed it so don't be stressing yourself. Until you know for sure just try and put it out of your head.
