Sounds like mincing to me! :P

Tonight is the last night of my relationship with the evil tobacco plant. I can do the distance required in about 26 minutes right now, but from what I've heard the course there is much harder than road running, and I'd rather not leave it to chance!

Does anyone know what the course at Garnerville is actually like? Is it a mix of gravel and tarmac, or is there some rougher terrain? I'm going to upgrade my running shoes before I go, and it'd be good to know which ones to replace.

i just go for nike air trainers. they look great and feel comfy no matter where im running! just dont get them wet or they squelsh. i know a cure for that too:P

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 507 ✭✭✭bc84

i use adidas bounce, really good for running in, light airy aand comfy. they packed in about half an hour before my half marathon when i was doing my warmup, shock absorbers cracked :( gona invest in a pair of asics i reckon this time round, proper running trainers.

need to remove the finger large portions here, havnt ran a yard in 3 weeks since the half marathon. training starts this monday again. gonna aim for a 4, 6 and 10 miler on monday, wednesday and friday and thenn il alternate my strength training on the other days.

    well thats the plan.....

i thought you were on the bacardi n red bulls again. then i just googled asics:P

thats some money for a pair of gutties. im gonna have to lend money off the family to invest in all the stuff i wont be able to afford everything. hate working part time:mad:

went out running this morning. but my mid week antics held me back. i could taste the red bull i had yesterday morning. and it was just red bull!

do you run first thing and on an empty stomach? or what do you do.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 507 ✭✭✭bc84

i used to run on my lunch hour at work but it got to the stage where i could only go so far because i only had an hour to get ready, stretched, do the run, get back and ready for work again so i usually go before work now about 6.30 or so.

yeah i would have my breakfast when i get back, proper sports people will tell you you shouldnt be running on an empty stomach bla bla bla but it works for me so in my opinion its whatever works for you is best. i've been running properly for a few years now so if your wanting to know anything gimme a shout dude

smyff, go onto birmingham runner or start fitness on t'internet, they do last years asics at good prices, you can also get new balance, saucony, mizuno, they are all decent runners and will see you throught most terrains when training! go get your gait assessed at up and running in belfast so they can determine exactly what type of shoe you need... i need a stability shoe as i over-pronate! wearing nasty nikes caused me proper foot and knee pain!;)
