Does anyone know if the LG 47LH5000 and LG 47LH7000 work fine for Irish DTT.

They're both MPEG4 and get great reviews, just not sure about MHEG-5 digital text.

I've read in this thread that the LG xxLF7700 range works fine (and include a Freesat receiver).

    Thanks

Just bought this is in DID for 525. They matched Powercitys offer for same telly. Spent a LONG time looking at tellys before taking the plunge. Have to say im chuffed with the telly. Highly Recommend.

Really happy to discover that we can receive the 5 DTT channels and the quality is very impressive. Epg is nice too...... Have the freesat via the Humax HD receiver and BBC hd looks great.... Based in Laois. Didnt realise we would get the DTT channels down here.

We got a technika 19in with freeview from tesco but no MPEG4. Sound only on rte, tv3 & tg4. We're returning it so now the hunt is on for a replacement with MPEG4 capability. Anyone have a 19in with MPEG4 or advise a suitable set.

    Thanks

    Joe

An LG LH2000 or a Samsung 19B450 will have an mpeg4 tuner afaik, wouldnt be too concerned with brand or anything at that size though

    DVB-T (Terrestrik) ja / HDTV (MPEG4 / AVC)

Yep, that would work with our DTT no problem! :)

Its the mpeg4 bit you have to look out for and this clearly has that!

Has anyone used the new text service on the DTT yet? If so what is it like.

There was a screenshot showing this on Boards some time back although I can't find it now.

With the Digital text the screen is split with the television picture still on screen on the right and the text on the left - white text on black background. Not all pages on analogue text available (yet anyway).

You can see example at 2.37 on this video:

Mayo can you tell me if all the pages are update i heard these are only test pages

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,634 ✭✭✭Mayo Exile

Did a quick comparison between the analogue text and the MHEG5 text pages and the news, sport and business sections seem to be the same. So this would indicate that the MHEG5 text content is being updated at the moment.

However as you say it's still only a test and can't be relied upon. In the past I've noticed sport not being updated on it.

How do I know my signal strength?

    vince
i have never tried it but i think it would be through the recorder and then on to the receiver with the aerial. i have a 6900 technomate and you can record through the scart or you can record on a usb stick and then transfer to disc with computer.

  • Registered Users Posts: 90 ✭✭patrick whitty

    techique
if you have a sat combo receiver it will give you signal strenght. the irish dtt is now 91%.

Was in Arnotts today & saw the Phillips TVs on sale, the graphic coming on every 5 minutes was showing Riks TV, TDT, DVB-T, evan DVB-C and also MPEG4. The young woman in the shop seemed to be well versed on Irish DTT and the TV said MPEG4. Now the TV price info didn't say anything but still, that is an example of how it should be done. Thumbs up to Arnotts! Any the young female assistant was a friendly, nice person. If only I wanted a TV, this is where I would probably buy it, even though Arnotts usally means expensive.. but in TVs they seem the usual prices of any bricks and mortar store.

I guess the young woman was quite attractive.

Hehe..well she wasn't like really gorgeous, or giggly or anything. She was cute enough, like she wasn't unattractive either though. She just was friendly, knowledgable. I'm very easy pleased lookswise regarding women. Personality affects attractabliity too. But to the point was Arnotts Electronics it would seem seem to be at the top in terms of DTT knowledability. Philips seem to be aswell. But passed Gallagher TV and not seen it switched on any of their tv sets.
