Light snow at ballyhaise according to met.ie
At 1C at the time and 2.7mm i would say more wet than powder. As this is an unmanned station.

Ballyhaise is automated, yes likely to be actually snowing, but it isn't a human observation
Must use a temperature threshold for snow reporting. More of a mix of snow than rain i'd say though at that temp but exact temp and DP be nice instead of rounded up text on the site as it can make a difference to distinguish between the two at certain temp values.

Yea real heavy the size of the flakes are amazing, some 2"' in size. Still pelting, cars turning white along with grass now, I'm shocked.

The met got this rightly messed up

Lads - enjoy this while you can! Frontal snow in October is a very rare event on this island. Could be a long time before this happens again!

Also, I imagine we will have some very low maxes today due to lack of sun. Mothmans site is only recording a max of 4.7c so far.

snowrabbit must be hopping now:D how high up are you again, supercell?

Still shleety and wet here, i want some puffy flakes!

Snowing in Ardee, Co. Louth for at least the last half hour, probably longer. Nice big fat flakes too, none of your skittery ould mini-flakes :D It isn't sticking but it is mighty pretty looking in contrast with the autumnal colours of the trees. Saw some cars driving in to Ardee from Collon direction, snow on roofs and bonnets.

If only it would stick - my wee girl still hasn't seen snow!

Still coming down in naas although the sky is brightening up a small bit, I don't remember snow in October before.

Ballyhaise, same temp and humidity, but calling it light rain at 12z.
more than 6mm there past 2 hours, I'd say most as snow.

At least the temp and baro are dropping like a stone anyway. Hopefully a bit of snow later - not that it'll stick or anything.

I'm thinking of moving to Siberia :D
