    Not all lecturers use SULIS

We used it for first semester, so far 5 lecturers have explained in each seperate lecture this wonderful new thing called SULIS and no-one bothered to say we've been using it for 6 months:mad:

Failed maths repeating in august....and this was the semester i was going to take it easy?fml:(

Anyone register, get the confirmation email, but did not get added to Sulis within the 24 hours? :/

SULIS didn't update on Monday night, it should update tonight so you should see your modules on it tomorrow (well, today but yeah).

Ugh. 8 projects this semester. Worse still, most of them are group projects! Probably being anti-social, but this is generally how I feel about group projects.

    With you there...

My overall hatred of people doesn't contribute much,
But past experiences where people can't do the simplest of tasks without messing something up backs up my feelings.. :P

On that note, does anyone have experience setting up QT with Windows? I've got the basic, but if I try to build, it says there's no compiler. Used to Java and gcc with Ubuntu so never had to do C++/C on a Windows machine before.

Maybe try downloading Visual Studio 2010? (The C++ one if there are different types). IIRC that installed C++ compilers on my machine. Not 100% though.

I'm actually trying that now. Would it make a difference if it were the 2012 version?

    Probably not. A C++ compiler is a C++ compiler like. :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,324 ✭✭✭chrislad

And working. Needed the 2010 version. The 2012 is very much geared towards Windows 8 dev, rather than C++ in general. Either way, I'm up and running so now I just need to learn the language!

Hey just want to ask two lil' questions.:) My travel card is out of date since Christmas and I'm heading up to Dublin by train for the soon, so my question is can I just use my UL card to prove I'm a student? I'd really rather not have to renew my travel card.
Also, is the 20 euro deal to Dublin still going? I know there a bus from UL to Dublin for 20 but I'm on co-op at the moment so living at home. Thanks!:)

I always show them my student ID, no bothers at all. Likewise on Dublin Coach and that.

The security guys hunt anyone talking out of the library then have a nice oul chat amongst themselves :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,060 ✭✭✭Jikashi

Worst is when there's a meting in the board room on the first floor of the library, after which the attendees pile out roaring and laughing and having a damn afterparty in the middle of the floor, nonplussed as to why every person with notes or a laptop at the desks are staring at them

    Dear Residents,

It has come to my attention that food waste and rubbish is being discarded out of kitchen and bedroom windows on the river side of your apartments. From tomorrow, each time any food or waste is discarded from any of the blocks, that particular block will be fined with a community levy which will be withdrawn from your deposit at the end of the academic year!

Refuse bags are available in reception and bin compounds are clearly visible in the village.

Should anyone have any information on those throwing out waste please contact reception in confidence if you wish.

    Kind Regards,

FFS. How depressing is it that a bunch of 17-22 y/o's have TO BE TOLD not to dump food out of the window onto the ground?

    I mean seriously!

SAA have had my grant cheque since the 17th of January and are still yet to deposit it. Fucking ridiculous how shit they are.

I usually ring up my co.co and get it sent directly to me but didn't get to ring them in time this year with being on co-op.

I've emailed them but I'm afraid of telling them how I really feel because I wouldn't be surprised if my cheque got "lost"

Campus life really need to be more selective about who they put in campus accommodation and a lot sterner with regard to anti-social behaviour. A specific dean needs to be appointed who can deal with muppetry fairly and swiftly. Basically a type of Judge Dredd. One or two warnings then you're gone, no deposit back.

You can see on the SAA site when your cheque should be processed.
Looks to me like everything received on the 17th January has been processed already, even taking into account the need for people to register in Week 1 before getting their cheques.

The comment about 'losing' the cheque is ridiculous, frankly.

When I was applying for my grant,
Had to send in the same piece of documentation 3 times,
Because they claimed never to have gotten it...
In the end it cost me the difference between a half grant and a full grant,
And I'm more than entitled to the full one,
Only thing is it was so late on in the year,
I was lucky to get anything at all...

New course this year though so not entitled to a grant,
Makes it all so much easier :)

Did ye get the email about what security are planning to do from now next week? Checking id cards every weekday after 5pm and at the weekends too. Think it is fair enough.
