Hey, just rang Julie Ann Ennis, the marketing officer for DC121, to ask about some stuff.

She said that there are no optional modules anymore on the course.
Apparently that was in the letter we got from the CAO a few months back  can't say I remember it!

Oh, and the timetable should be up by the 7th, I'm assuming thats for all courses (but even that will still be provisional for the first while)

And here was me worrying about whether I was gonna do physics or electronics!! :pac:

There was 2 before in first year. They are now gone with the course restructuring.

You get choices in 4th year though.

Did you find out what the modules are anyhow? Are there any non computing topics any more?

And FYI its CA rather than DC121 now that you're in ;)

the new layout seems good. more computer orientated and with a choice for second year.

anyone have any more opinions on this course?

when is the final timetable arranged?

aye, either her or shiofra - they're the most helpful staff you'll find in the school, they actually listen to students!

They try to keep pretty consistent but no matter what it says, things will change in first few weeks of the semester.

friday is a good day and monday start at 10 seems ok..
24 hours a week, suppose i shouldnt complain.

24 hours a week seems like torture.
By the time you get to 4th year you will be down to 6 hours a week.
Anyway most of you will not reach double figures for hours a week and when most notes are on moodle there is really no need to either

still find this hard to believe its fine to miss so much time :/

Believe me, college missing time isnt that big a deal. Well in my english and media course last year it wasnt anyway. As long as you go to labs and tutorials and the notes are online theres not much point in lectures IMO. Dunno how its gonna be in this course though so il go to lectures for a few weeks to sus it out.

Everyone has such good intentions going in but the same pattern always repeat itself. The majority don't attend more then half I'd say

I am sure that people who tend to attend most lectures actually do better on average then those who don't but in my opinion has not much to do with the lectures and learning from the content but down to a demonstration of the motivation levels behind doing what is required. If they are willing to go to a 9am lecture even though it's raining etc then they are likely to put hours into doing a good assignment, not just studying for an exam the night before. It's all about motivation

Don't think we will need to do that too much in the first week, maybe go over and read through a few things but not full out study. (yet)

I have no idea how i would make a costume, where would i get materials? what would i do with them:confused:

....will the bar be open? (sure why not 10:00am is late enough to start)

doin well with the partin so far then /o/
carri - who gave you the campus tour?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 235 ✭✭Carri

I know html, some PHP, some Java, some Ruby...

I'm not very good at it though, but I try.

HTML is simple and quite straight forward, but some web designs require you to combine it with some other language for certain things.

    Anywho, I can't wait!
