I just went to the web page and did it from home yesterday evening.

My lab guy wasn't very helpful. Seemed friendly enough though.

Also DL'd openSUSE 11 to my laptop so i can dual boot.

AWESOME 2.5MB/s dl through wireless in the computer building labs!

Linux comes in different types, known as distros. openSUSE is just one 'flavour'. Ubuntu and Fedora and 2 other popular ones.

I recommend ubuntu. It is <3. But people will debate me on that.

Especially when ubunto happens to be the suck.

Go for Fedora. =] openSuse isn't too bad.

Fúck Fedora and it's associated yum.

Ubuntu is just so nice. and go team apt >_>

    Fedora 9

Or Ubuntu 8.04 with Gnome NOT KDE.. You use KDE, I murder you. :D

I use both. My little laptop has Ubuntu, my older wiser laptop has Fedora.

I'm open to everything much like the sources.. :P

If you're a linux newbie I'd say Ubuntu. You can grab it here, it's the one labeled "Ubuntu 8.04 LTS Desktop Edition - Supported to 2011".

Ubuntu is by far the easiest to use (and when you get more advanced with it, apt is just wonderful).

From what I've heard though, Charlie's telling people about SuSE, so OpenSuSE might not be a bad choice either. It's got some nice features. Just a little bit unstable.

Both have compiz, so are very shiny and pretty.

KDE is fugly... Gnome is, IMHO, the better of the prepackaged desktop enviroments.

That said, I'd go for something a tad more minimalistic...

[edit] A little more on topic, Nanaki and I are looking for another two members for the MT103 business game. Anyone interested? Drop me or Nanaki a PM or whatever.
